Hey man! AMAZING work you do here in this channel! I am the one who sculpted and design this statue for Sideshow Collectibles. This Rancor creature was created by none other than Phil Tippet, the master of creatures and dinosaurs for Jurassic park. So, one amazing detail, the creator himself said that this version of the Rancor was even better in some ways than the original one he did. And that is huge for me as an artist . All things equal, $1300 is not bad. That thing is freaking insane. Just like darth maul, limited screen time, limited/no speaking parts and TONS of on screen presence.

It's made of Fiberglass ( just like the Venom bust you hated so much) So it's not PVC or cheap plastic! Here is what Wiki says ( for your info) Cheaper and more flexible than carbon fiber, it is stronger than many metals by weight, is non-magnetic, non-conductive, transparent to electromagnetic radiation, can be molded into complex shapes, and is chemically inert under many circumstances. Applications include aircraft, boats, automobiles, bath tubs and enclosures, swimming pools, hot tubs, septic tanks, water tanks, roofing, pipes, cladding, orthopedic casts, surfboards, and external door skins.
Pretty cool piece, a must have for any massive Star Wars fan! It's common knowledge that pvc is a better material for fine detail and don't forget, polystone is still a plastic based material, ( polyurethane resin mixed with powdered stone additives), alot of collectors talk as though It's marble! My main gripe with this piece is that It looks too clean, this is a hulking great behemoth that lives underground in Its own filth, this chap looks as though he's been pampered at a beauty spa! I love star wars, rotj was the very first movie I seen at the local drive-in theater when I was 4. Been stuck ever since. This piece definitely brings back memories.
When you did the height measurement, you said 29 inches or so. The moducase i have coming for this will allow 29.9” inside. Will i be safe to put this in a max140plus moducase? Thanks.

I'm a child of the 80s so not only did I have a few of the mail-in Star Wars figures, I also had the first store-available Star Wars toy which was the Rancor!
It looks larger than the example it shows on the site. It's a very clever design. If it's resin and fiberglass then it was probably rotocast. I believe it's worth the price. They could have added a bit of chain to attach to the cuff, and the mouth could have been deeper with the tongue a separate piece that snapped in for an added bit of realism. Still amazing.
This Rancor is such a beast. What a menacing looking creature. Looking at your assembly, where did you buy it at Akia. I would never would think you needed nuts, washers, and screws to put a statue together. It would be understandable if it were one of those large Transformers peaces, but a Rancor. I love that in the base with the all of the wast from what he eat before, you see the bone that Luke Skywalker grabs and stick in its mouth. Preventing it from chomping down on Luke. That is a well done and fenominal rendition of the Rancor. It is impressive and will definitely turn heads. Thats what she said.

I also had the Rancor as a kid, the Millenium Falcon and Darth Vader carrying case. Shit would probably be worth a few bucks now a days. Nice statue, the plastic is a bit disappointing but like you said, it’s probably the best route for shipping and assembly! I think I even had it’s master as an action figure too! Remember, to be like Luke, put the bone in the mouth! Cheers X!

Dang, this is one HUGE statue! Congrats, Mr X. I understand that SS went for a lighter material but PVC is a little bit disappointing. nevertheless, it looks really good.
The Regal Robot version in $3000, 20 inch tall but much more detail direct from the actual film prop. Also only a flat black base. Hand painted by one person, US based. 100 limited addition I think.

When i stare into his eyes 🥰 I remember Belial from the movie Basket Case, idk if it does that for anyone else. But this guy or girl is massive, the bone and skull did it for me and so did the mouth. It could’ve used a couple other hues in it but maybe idk. What do I know🤷🏻♂️ its a superb piece in my opinion again hes like a glorified steroids version of Belial from the movie basket case (hey that gives me an idea I’m gonna look for that or even an action figure of that movie) GREAT PIECE😁🤙🏽✌🏽
Literally one of the best characters in Return of the Jedi. The most recent sideshow Jabba the Hutt was a home run also. It would be so awesome to have a 1/6 scale recreation of the Jabba throne room scene 👏😎👍 great piece and another great video review Mr. X
Congrats amazing piece, yes it has a few flaws but where else are you going to get a Rancor in this size. Should become a Grail in the future. The Gentle Giant piece is still incredible so if anyone has that, don't sell it to get this, just buy this as well if you're a fan.
I agree it's a 5 out of 5 statue. Very, very nice statue. I just think the rankor should have been the same color as in the return of the jedi movie. He looks a little to pale but all in all that's a great statue.
I do really like the size of him That is the one thing that I worry about with this material cause it can make it look cheap and paint not show up great. It is cool as he'll tho and when your stepped away from it I'm sure you can't tell. Looks great enjoy 👍
Looks great! Rancor is simply one the most iconic creators in the Star Wars. Well, one of the advantages of PVC it doesn’t really break. Kinda surprised how you assembled it with screw-in pieces together. I think this will be sought after. It’s 1/4, right?

So I got my notification from Sideshow last week saying I'll be charged that crippling last huge payment on the 12th. I was super surprised to find out it's almost out. When was it originally supposed to be out, like September? So yeah, if it came out 12 months late that wouldn't be surprising. Anyways, to my surprise I have no idea there was already reviews of it, much less ppl had it in hand for over 2 weeks. Haha, man...they put me at the bottom of the list.
It is no less than spectacular! I see no faults at all, other than the black base, it´s perfect. The paint, to me, looks awesome. If it needed anything, then maybe a chain, as you mentioned, or maybe som more skulls on the ground (would have been cool as fuck if there were other skulls...maybe Jar Jar Binks (we all want that come on!) But otherwise I can´t see what would improve this magnificent piece :-)
Such an awesome piece. I would be slightly disappointed knowing I paid $1300 for a pvc (or mainly pvc) statue. It doesn't take away from how epic this is but I feel like a more appropriate price point would have been $900-$1000.

Is it really tan color or is due to your lights? In sideshow photos and preview from 2020 it actually brown.
