With the parts coming from so many suppliers, the concern would be where the bottlenecks might form. Take CPC for example. If it takes 12 minutes to press the largest parts, that would take one hour to make 5. Probably 4 to 5. Running three shifts would produce approximately 100 per day, 600 a week if taking Sunday off. That’s 31,000 a year if running full out in Italy. Multiple assembly facilities will quickly swallow those up. They better be planning on machining more presses. Those should be shipped to California and possibly elsewhere to cut down on the shipping costs. I’m sure that Aptera is already thinking along those lines. That’s why it’s called production hell.
When they get to 15,000 cars per year, half of what you calculated for maximum yearly for the major molded structural parts, they will have cash and investor interest and will be able to invest in more production tools.
At 50:11 you see a slide with all the other Aptera concepts. Steve, can’t wait for you to blow up each one and let us take a vote on the best design . Maybe you know a graphic artist who can enhance the images for clarity.
Good thought but in 1-2m just adjusting brightness & contrast in basic photo editing software, much clearer. Off-road 4-wheeler at bottom would be a winner if it could height adjust for conditions (lower for on-road travel).
Potential missed opportunity to go with SUNE?? Pronounced Sun E (sunny) or I guess soon. Tried looking it up and it didn't seem to have any results yet. Maybe they can still switch?
Chris seemed a bit nervous. He shouldn't have been. He did a great job as always presenting. They need to get their solar on every battery power vehicle that makes sense. Any battery powered equipment that spends it's whole life outside, should have solar to trickle/charge the battery. Aptera solar could become bigger the it's vehicle manufacturing if they can sell the benefits effectively.
Model Y is most popular, not 3. But why does he compare those 4/5 seat EVs to a 2 seat , 3 wheeled trike? They aren't in any way comparable except on price - the Aptera is very expensive for what you get.
I'm surprised to see that Canada, with a population of one tenth that of the U.S., only represents 4% of the reservation holders, even when combined with Mexico and the Caribbean for some weird reason (our economies don't really resemble each other). Reaching out to influencers/EV enthusiasts from Quebec could improve that figure, as Quebec is our second largest EV market, I believe. It would also, of course, help in France.
The marketing is all about sun and in canada we tend to have infrastructure for indoor/underground parking. Aptera is still a great vehicle. Europe has more population and has had more access to the prototypes. Concern over 3 wheels / snow is also largely untested.
Hi Steve, thanks for sharing this. I have a question that might be a topic for a future video. Aptera like Tesla and others are not offering a heat pump initially. My understanding is that it’s significantly more expensive than just an AC unit. Maybe you can ask someone who knows why that is. Or maybe there are other challenges to installing one.
Actually heat pumps are pretty simple. Just the AC in reverse. You can then use a heat strip for cases where the temp is too low. Thing is, reversing valves used to be hard to get during Covid (up until mid 2021) but for today, really easy and in plenty of supply. Even for the high quality ones that Aptera would use. I got that from my cousin that works in that industry today for doing heat pumps for EV's and other related industries. It is odd that they just didn't go the heat pump route but they also are not doing skin cooling right now. Seems to me they might be related.
“but they also are not doing skin cooling right now. Seems to me they might be related.” Maybe that’s part of it. Would make sense to scavenge the heat from the main cooling loop. Still I would be very interested to hear from Aptera. Not that it would make any real difference to me. Just curious.
I believe in an interview earlier this year Steve explained that designing a custom heat pump specifically for Aptera was too expensive and would take too long. But later cars may get one. I don't know about you, but I'd rather not wait. Also, I suspect the current HVAC system may work better for those us in more frigid, northern climes.
@@walterburt-oq8gw - The heat pump with heat strips would be better. Instead of just relying on the heat strip, you can use the heat pump when it's not as frigid, thus improve the efficiency. I do remember Steve backing off on the idea that older Apteras can be retrofitted with the heat pump.
you can do a "direct transfer" (trustee to trustee) from your current IRA to a new self-directed IRA at Equity Trust - ua-cam.com/video/B6FpAGR5iFU/v-deo.html . Preferred Trust is another company which Aptera recommends. Self-directed IRAs are only offered by relatively few institutions (such as these two).
Tiger Woods ended up being my crash test dummy. I bought my Genesis GV80 SUV in mid-January of 2021. IIHS did not complete its final crash of six GV80 test vehicles until Feb 24th, 2021. This was one day after Tiger's crash. So we do not need to wait for all the crash tests to be completed.
I suspect it will be less than expected. Autocycles tend to have low insurance rates, as I understand it. That may be inaccurate, but I have heard it or read it repeatedly. If Aptera hands out spec sheets with parts pricing and times that it takes to install replacement parts after an accident, I would suspect that the insurance rates would be very low because you can get the entire body for only about $3,800, according to Chris in a fairly recent video. This vehicle has far fewer components than even a Toyota Corolla or a Honda Civic. Can you imagine trying to get a quote on an entirely new body for a Camry? Or a Model 3? Laughing would ensue upon your inquiry. Couple years back I heard that you can take the entire car part in your driveway in 4 hours if you're handy with tools and have a couple of critical tools, like jacks. That is mind-boggling. It means it's an easy car to work on. Almost like working on a motorcycle.
@@chriseidam7319 It's a shame that insurance companies tend to write off Teslas so much in fender benders. I've known two people that experienced that and yet the damage was no worse than on a standard vehicle.

Sounds like the 9 month time to production starts in August. That takes us to April 2025, then a 6 month ramp during which 6,000 Apteras will be produced by October 25, then full production after that. Is that what we heard?
@@shrimptopian3392 I think if you listen carefully, Chris said the capital will be deployed in August. I take this to mean the $65M will be in hand by then, by whatever debt and equity deals US Capital has in the works.
I have to ask… If, 2 years ago, they had all of the resources/connections to build the Gamma, why did they not use them, again, and have at least 1 set of Delta parts sitting there to expedite a Delta to replace Gamma once the BinC arrived? If they had even 1 Delta to test/demo now, which was a totally reasonable expectation, they would be in so much better position. So many open questions could have been answered.
The production vehicles are very different than the prototypes. They shifted gears to the pressed plastic body. They're working on a shoestring budget- only focusing on what gets them the next step down the path to production.
@ResidentNetizen That is NOT a shoestring budget especially relative to the cost of 1 Delta with BinC + preproduction parts. At the EVA event, CA offered they were “down to” $1.3 mil/month. As you have seen, there has been no greater value to the program than the Gamma. It’s nearly 2 years old and the vast majority of their positive press has come directly from that. The cost of an expedited Delta would have been trivial compared with what it would show and what they’re spending elsewhere. The impact of the delay in what it would have provided is serious. Remember, the meter is running regardless. They need to make it count every hour of every day. On the “only what gets them to the next step”, explain the timing of the Red Viking AGV purchase. On the shifting gears, again, when the BinC was released they had a year to collect the parts to go with it. All time counts, and, as you’re seeing, they are losing 6 months because they didn’t use it effectively.
It's not like buying stock through a trading account on publicly-traded stocks. You have to go through a process of getting identified and vetted. I figured give it nine business days to be safe, from start to finish. There is an IRA investment option, too. I'm looking into that for myself, a Roth IRA. I've already invested a little over $17,000 and if I can get it up to $25,000 I can get a personal tour of the factory.
I guess all the Launch editions will be wrapped the same color? I guess I don't mind spending the extra 5 or 8 hundred it'll cost to wrap it in something I design as soon as I get it...
If it cost $125,000 for each patent that would mean it cost $3,750,000 spent.there is also a bit of a concern about Chinese wiring systems since they are the main source of issues in the Chinese cars. In the supply chain, motors are still not listed?
I am not worried about that. You CAN get high quality product from China, you just have to pay for it (and do your own QC). You only get what you pay for, and I bet that the Chinese auto manufacturers are paying bottom dollar.
I would like to ask Steve how the views on his channel are proceeding ? Have the views on Aptera Owner's Club been steadily going up or declining ? One, two, and three years ago I watched everything but I am just losing faith in Aptera. I wonder if I am alone or I am a growing sector ?
@Sondan1988 Aptera desperately needs a fully finished Delta PI or 3, fully tested and positively reviewed by respected third parties to get in the game here. Their expertise is in selling the story. They’ve got to get it all the way out to the point where the product sells itself based on its merits. The original “first few months of next year” PI schedule was great because of all the summer (sun) to come. Fall, not so much. I thought your question was insightful and great Steve answered it.

That’s the KEY question…. not only if shares will be diluted then but will shares be created for the US-Capital deal thereby diluting/devaluing current shareholder investments. Hope I’m not delusional trusting Aptera genuinely values our early support… they’re certainly in a position to borrow for a large portion of funds needed.
So people are being asked to park their IRA’s here. To me, that’s a serious ask. On due diligence: Chris mentioned 9 startups… What’s his success rate been? On Aptera, how much has he personally invested in actual dollars? People compare things. I think Musk went all in with his Pay Pal $170 mil. on Tesla. What’s CA’s comparable commitment here?
More importantly, why do you care? It is up to adults to make up their own minds about investing in a unique company building a unique vehicle. Personally, I would never invest in an IRA in the first place. I invested a small amount in Aptera that I can afford to lose, because I believe in what they are attempting to build. @GullWingInnmoclips In my own case, it’s “If you see something, say something”. I see crowdfunders who are taking people’s money on the premise they can become manufacturers. Dating back years now, and as pointed out then, they have not followed the path one needs to follow to be successful. It’s just that. Perhaps a needed reality check as a hype antidote. You do tend to lean into personal attacks. Perhaps offer up your best justification why all the parts weren’t sitting there to complete the BinC upon arrival? Perhaps explain why a promise of “PI’s completed in the first few months of next year”, which was an achievable expectation now inexplicably blown out to the fall is “no big deal”. I say anyone who’s good would not have blown that. Would not make yet another pitch while sitting in front of an apparently untouched BinC. You’ve got maybe a dozen people who are trying to say “maybe consider this” and maybe, just maybe, our comments have some merit, and we might save a few some money. I totally respect your right to invest in something wherein you believe in the cause. I will suggest that the average fan has absolutely no clue how much work is actually remaining compared with how little had been done. If you’ve been led to believe a high quality finished product is just around the corner from a soon to be viable enterprise, great. I’m saying they haven’t even begun the process.

I have a bad feeling that Aptera is going to ditch the in wheel motors and go with conventional electric motors with drive shafts. It is concerning that no mention of Elaphe in a long time ??
I seriously doubt they will change the drive line like you say. True that there's been little mention of the motors as of late. I think they've got that part buttoned down.
Good catch…. but highly doubt considering such a fundamental change. As Chris said deals with suppliers is in progress and guessing they’re not committing publicly to Elaphe either get better terms/pricing or genuinely consider another (of 6+) in-wheel solutions.
You do understand that they released this video right on their own investment portal for all to see, don't you? At least they put some more numbers out there so people can weigh the progress being made. However the number one metric is, how many PI builds are complete by fall and how many by end of year. 65m won't build the first 5000 but it may build the first few hundred which leads into the 185m for that 5000+ The number one take away, yet again they showed nothing being done with the PI body they have on campus - nothing at all. It has been there a long time surely by now they have something to show for it
They've got this thing together buy buying expensive parts from other companies. It's a great way to make a few prototypes but it's not going to scale profitably. Zero vertical integration. Of course they are hoping for more cost efficient suppliers but that's a pipe dream - these will cost 40 k just to build, what are they going to sell them for?
Ha Ha another clueless post. I would venture a guess by your posts that you have absolutely no engineering R&D experience and certainly none in vehicle R&D. You appear as a jester among the knowledgeable on this channel. For the sake of your own self esteem, either research and post facts of stop posting.
I'm wondering if they already have the frame there. I see to his right that there are a number of suspension parts on the floor. Why would you do that unless you have something to bolt them onto? Plus the HVAC box is done as it's sitting to his right. With it being done and I guess they will install it today. Note to Chris, take that stuff off the floor as they are a tripping hazard for the people doing that wiring harness on the bink. This is why repair shops get into trouble by placing parts like those on the floor. One friend of mine broke his tailbone as he stepped on a shock that he left on the floor. That HVAC box needs to be on a work cart too. I'm just looking out for the safety of the Aptera employees.
Highly conceptual level with no detailed substance. Did not live up to its billing. So unimportant that the Co-CEO chose to attend something else. Confirmed that Aptera does not have the $65M to fund production. Nothing on the schedule or process for U.S. Capital to provide funding from an as yet to be defined campaign on a schedule that fully supports currently published, forecasted delivery. Did highlight all that yet needs to be done to get to retail production/distribution. (A lot) As usual, an overly optimistic schedule for retail delivery. Probably another kick the can down the road. On the positive side, admirable progress on a shoestring budget. Remarkable how that can manage so cost efficiently.
"Confirmed that Aptera does not have the $65M to fund production. Nothing on the schedule or process for U.S. Capital to provide funding" Specifics of deal expected in a couple weeks (per Chris in this presentation). So yes, not a done deal yet… those details will likely influence crowdfunding this month (b4 June 30 close).
Still no funding definitive. Just a vague guideline of PI program finished in 2024 and hopefully start manufacturing in 2025. Nothing definitive. About finishing PI programs in 2024, the chances are slim. Not even one PI shows up in Carlsbad yet and there are 16 to be built. There are a lot of rigs and instruments needed for these tests. It is now June, only six months before 2025. If CPC has all the press molds to make parts, why is that no PI showed up in Carlsbad? And when will they? My prediction: PI program will not be done way past half of 2025 and manufacturing will not happen until middle 2026, if that.
It’s a stretch to even call these PI builds. Production Intent builds use the parts from the production process and are generated by a manual test run of the production line. These are going to use parts manufactured by a different small-run custom fabricator and be fully hand built. It’s just another prototype. I also wouldn’t be surprised if the produced only two prototypes instead of the planned 16.
@@mitchbarber4748 - They will do 16 because they are required to crash test 3 of them. So that means, they will have 13 to do all of the durability and even the winter testing.

Wish 2 needs to get them back to having built full mules so that all of the systems were proven before releasing the BinC at which time preproduction. parts were also released. Wish 4 would have been to actually prioritize the manufacturing you are supposed to be doing, recognizing the skilled team you will need, and getting them started in support of this chart. Wish 5 would be to have all the real vendors have all the data they need and confirm they will happily provide all parts in support of schedule and cost.

Chris seemed a bit nervous. He shouldn't have been. He did a great job as always presenting. They need to get their solar on every battery power vehicle that makes sense.

Seems to me they might be related.”
Maybe that’s part of it.
You’re right. I just re-watched the vid by Tailosive EV where Chris A. said it would be several million to develop a heat pump system for Aptera.
Many companies try to hide what they have on the road. Aptera be like....

you can do a "direct transfer" (trustee to trustee) from your current IRA to a new self-directed IRA at Equity Trust - ua-cam.com/video/B6FpAGR5iFU/v-deo.html . How much do you expect insurance will cost?

I have to ask…
If, 2 years ago, they had all of the resources/connections to build the Gamma, why did they not use them, again, and have at least 1 set of Delta parts sitting there to expedite a Delta to replace Gamma once the BinC arrived?
If they had even 1 Delta to test/demo now, which was a totally reasonable expectation, they would be in so much better position.
So many open questions could have been answered.
"I have to ask" How much are you paid to troll Aptera?
The production vehicles are very different than the prototypes. They shifted gears to the pressed plastic body. They're working on a shoestring budget- only focusing on what gets them the next step down the path to production.
@ResidentNetizen
That is NOT a shoestring budget especially relative to the cost of 1 Delta with BinC + preproduction parts.
What is the last day the average individual can invest .

No way, they wouldn't be able to put a motor in front. There's no room there. There's not much room in the rear either.
The vehicle doesn't have the space for conventional electric motors.
They might change suppliers if Elaphe doesn’t work out, but they will definitely do in wheel motors.
100 countries have pre-orders.......what a nightmare will be the legaility of whether or not the aptera can be used in each country.
You do understand that they released this video right on their own investment portal for all to see, don't you?
At least they put some more numbers out there so people can weigh the progress being made. However the number one metric is, how many PI builds are complete by fall and how many by end of year. 65m won't build the first 5000 but it may build the first few hundred which leads into the 185m for that 5000+
The number one take away, yet again they showed nothing being done with the PI body they have on campus - nothing at all. It has been there a long time surely by now they have something to show for it
$65MM gets them to a rate of 6,000/year or 500/month. It doesn’t get to a ‘total build’ number as you suggest.

Plus the HVAC box is done as it's sitting to his right. With it being done and I guess they will install it today.
Note to Chris, take that stuff off the floor as they are a tripping hazard for the people doing that wiring harness on the bink. This is why repair shops get into trouble by placing parts like those on the floor. One friend of mine broke his tailbone as he stepped on a shock that he left on the floor.
