Lol. Thank you, I guess I'll take that as a compliment. 😂 Yeah I was kinda shocked HBB took his apart but he gets sent ALL the iems so it's nothing to him. The fact that he graced me with the other side of teardown is very appreciated.
One of the approaches of high-end low-series manufactures is to buy a bulk of off-shelf components and bin them for extraordinary characteristics. Then just sell off discarded units as usual ones. You could think about it as a form of QC. Where common office just QC-s for proper working components. And low-end not QC-s at all.
Hey Hi-Fri, been watching your videos a lot recently to understand IEMs better. Not too long ago i bought a pair of Let Shouer S12 Pros and ive been really enjoying them. But theres one tiny thing that bothers me and i cant really find the answer to that on the internet so i figured i ask you about it. So, when i wear the S12 Pros they sound perfectly fine and are really comfortable, now when i push the left IEM (no music playing, in complete silence) into my ear i can hear like a very suttle crackling, scratchiing kinda noise. Only when i push it in. Now im not too sure if thats just a hair inside my left ear touching the surface of the IEM, kind of scratching it making that scratchy, crackling noise or (ive read that online) it might be cables inside the IEM or a loose driver that moves around in the vacuum when i push my left IEM in. Now the internet made me unsure if my left IEM is faulty or not. If its actually something lose i might send them in to Let Shouer to get it fixed since i got a warranty on them. Ive swapped tips and that weird noise stayed no matter what tip i used (as said only on the left IEM). Sorry for my stupid question but id love to get an answer from you!
If the sound is balanced in both ears and sounds fine when listening to music they should be fine. It sounds like what you are experiencing is driver flex, which is less common with planar but technically still possible. But yeah if they sound fine I wouldn't worry about it. The reason you would hear a crackle sound when pushing on the iems is because the dampener is impeding the airflow and when you push the iem the temporary difference in pressure is pushing the driver until the dampener can relieve the excess pressure. This is a perfectly normal thing that I've encountered on many iem's. Now if it impedes the sound or you experience any changes in sound I would consider it a problem and ask for a replacement pair.
@@hi-friaudioman I've heard it happen on some of the S12 drivers tbh. Ill say a few things, they will replay static electricity super well.. which sounds like crackling. I doubt its that though. I've had a few drivers flat out die on me as well, those just distort. Im with Hi-fri, if it sounds ok with music, its a non-issue.
Thanks for the quick answers! The world of these tiny electronics really is interesting and im just getting into it. I remember reading about driver flex. I also didnt know about the whole airflow stuff going on inside of my IEMs, really interesting. But yea as you said its completely normal and as long as nothing happens i wont worry about it. Its such a miniscule thing if i stop being annoyed by it i will probably forget about it. And if something happens i got the option to send em back/get em replaced.
No it's actually super easy. Just buy a pack of these (2.5mm version) and put them over the hole next to the nozzle. Just make sure to get the multi-pack with different values. Y1-Y6. a.aliexpress.com/_mP9Mex8
Yeah I mentioned it in the title and yeah he made it pretty clear. You'll need some micro-needles, plenty of patience and some nozzle dampeners. He said 4.8mm but I believe he meant 4.7mm and i think 4.5mm might be the actual size. You can buy them on AliExpress, they come in many different sizes and values. I think he said he used 400 mesh. a.aliexpress.com/_mNBQtRY
Bro i was gonna ask to place xsl driver in Dm and graph it, so that Bruce can mod it and bring some DM magic to it( if possible obviously) it would've been a best budget iem 🤯 Anyways thanks for vid and keep up your exploration 🙌🔥🔥
Hmm..that DM internal. If the xsl manufacturer is smart enough to watch your video..we will have xsl x1 ultra soon and that will be an ultra hit even if its say 100 or 150.
@@hi-friaudioman I cannot believe how cheap the driver is and the price i got is from an ali reseller, i imagine it could go lower if you bought at volume. Mim were pulling in an insane mark up at the Dark Magician price, many thousands of percent.
I search info to this brand call xsl, and in 1998 its a PCB manufacter, and now dont have any contact, or web Page, i think its the tipical ilegal Ghost store, but have good quality, i buy his fake E5000
Well holy shit Hifri.. also HBB. We are kind of on the same page here. Amazing breakdown here bro. Thank you so much! I owe you big time for this one.
In my head, it is insane to see a DM taken apart like it is here. You DiYers are completely different beasts.

ohh so this is what that community post of yours a while back was about, glad to finally have a follow up on that 👍
do the blue IEMs sound better than the X-ONE in stock form? any noticeable weaknesses of the blue one?

can you recommend 3 or 4 way cross over Configuration?
Hello, any advice to help me open the shell?
fascinating & as I've long suspected about how corporate greed can destroy faith in hifi, thank you

@@hi-friaudioman I got the 3mm some weeks ago, aren't those suitable for the mod?
Did you see Michael's mod, and do you understand what he did? If I bought these, where would I buy a pair of dampeners of the correct value?

I hooked Michael Bruce up with the manufacturer so you will probably be seeing them very soon.

I think Michael Bruce is working on it.
It will be well over 500 Usd, me thinks.
Where's the Graph

clarification, you spoke to the manufacturer, not the seller XSL, correct? who is the manufacturer?
