Evil is based on your actions, and not your reasoning. You can blah blah blah for hours about why you are troubled and broken, but when you're killing innocent people you are evil. Literally almost every evil villain has their "reason" for the things they do, or raised a certain way. It's their actions what makes them villains. Saiyans in general are a evil race they are warriors that didn't mind killing and taking from others. There are levels of how evil you can be.

As time went on Vegeta became more ruthless to the point he didn't even mourn his parents' deathes and was uncertain of the fate of his brother Tarble until they reunited later in adulthood! The loss of his homeworld & people did affect him its just he suppressed his emotions for most of his life until he was dying on Planet Namek during which he revealed how much he hated Frieza for the Saiyan Genocide & his life of servitude under the murderer of his people! Bulma & Trunks provided Vegeta with a family even though he was initially against the idea of fathering a child with an Earthling yet his love for Bulma lead him to enter into a relationship with her knowing full well that they could produce hybrid offspring thanks to the existence of Gohan! Vegeta's battle with the Z Fighters also lead him to lose his tail and access to his Great Ape form while also granting him a Zenkai Boost that allowed him to surpass Cui & Dodoria in base form (as his Great Ape form had a power level of 180,000 as his base power before invading Earth is 18,000 & Great Ape increases power level by 10 fold)! Goku also proved that one could achieve SSJ without being ruthless as Vegeta and the Saiyans believed (its the main reason why Vegeta failed to achieve SSJ on Namek as he was still too ruthless, as the more gentle hearted a Saiyan is the more S-Cells they accumulated as their power increases through training, Zenkai boosts, and/or potential unlocks!

Being evil was what they were forced to be. He never had a chance to be anything else. But once Frieza was defeated by Goku. He saw a way to turn his life around free from Frieza.
Vegeta grew so much as a character, watching him care for Future Trunks, to the point he was willing to die just so he and Mai would survive… amazing character development
His value of strength also changed when he learned ki sense and how Krillin getting stronger by having his potential unlocked. Then seeing how strong Piccolo got made him realize that they have something he didn’t have.
Honestly I think it was when future trunks died in the cell games. Prior to that Vegeta(my favorite character) had a tendency to let his pride and ego get in the way of everything. He was still stubborn and ignorant until the moment trunks died. He had a huge hiccup in the Buu saga but he ultimately came back to his senses when he sacrificed himself for his son to live on.
As time went on, he had many times to wish for immortality or something selfish, but he never did, and not once did he wished something from Porunga or Shenron after Frieza's defeat.

My take on it is that he was never truly evil but a product of his environment. First, his father, then Frieza, both indoctrinated him to be evil. That programming was extremely difficult to undo. When he let Babadi enpower him that was the last part of his indoctrinated evil side fighting desperately to gain hold again and when Vegeta sacrificed himself to try to stop Buu, he failed at destroying Buu but destroyed the last part of his evil side. Really wish they hadn't disrespected him so much in super.
Bulma "accepting Vegeta for who he was" after he gloated about killing a village of innocent Namekians who didn't get revived and marrying him is so ghoulishly out of character. Never been able to get over that, even as a kid when Vegeta was just the "cool guy" in my mind

To the point we get a view of baby trunks being born and vegeta holding him and watching him as he grows and even seeing how stubborn vegeta is, but yet we see how much he cares for him at the same time. This is a breaking point for vegeta whereas he feels he should have been more caring for his only son and now the boy has lost his life. NOW we see something terrifying stirring up in vegeta to the point where even whis feels this could be a big problem BEFORE we even see vegeta change. We get a quick view of bulma feeling something happened to trunks and crying her eyes out. Then we see vegeta began transforming. But this transformation is so powerful that whis even shows up to create a barrier around vegeta so he doesn’t destroy the planet. @kerryprice1414 The manga is the real version. We don't know how Vegeta fell for her in Toriyama's writing. They interacted only twice in the manga prior to baby Trunks. Maybe it did go the same as the anime, considering that Bulma helping Vegeta was in the Kakarot game and Toriyama worked on it.
Disagree it was partially because of them. it mostly had to do with Cell being a bigger monster. What happens when a bigger monster comes in terrorizes another small monster. He sees himself and decides not to be a monster anymore.

@kerryprice1414 The manga is the real version. We don't know how Vegeta fell for her in Toriyama's writing. They interacted only twice in the manga prior to baby Trunks. Maybe it did go the same as the anime, considering that Bulma helping Vegeta was in the Kakarot game and Toriyama worked on it.
