    My mouth literally dropped during the first scene 😱 she's so big now!!! And I agree with others here that it would be nice to have updates on her growth! She was so lucky to have found you!

    Oh goodness, she is so adorable. I thought she was cute when you first got her & she was so tiny but she is even cuter now. I love the 2 paws holding the food while she eats. I am so surprised that none of her "roommates" have been stuck with a quill. And I think it's great the Chilipepper trims the quills & maybe makes her a little less prickly. Great work with her training & socialization.

    I'm so happy all your bucktoothed buddies are getting along. It must be really comforting knowing they've got that non-human social life. I'm trying to get my parents to get another animal after they lost their cat because I am pretty sure their dog staying at home during the day is really lonely.

    I'd love a video of the entire rodent squad hanging out together, just watching them all hang out together in their "natural" habitat, even if it was just like an hour of unedited video, just watching the animals do what they do

    They all grow up so fast. ~sigh~ She's so cute, and I love the way she holds her food as well. Those cute little paws! I always look forward to your videos. Studying cats of all sizes (and the occasional coyote project) is the path I chose, and it makes me happy, but I do really love watching your animals, how they interact with you, and actually learning a great deal as well. It's been a long time since I finished grad school.

      Jessi answered this question earlier on! She said: "Not really. They pay attention when Kizmit rattles her tail and they move away before she feels the need to be more pushy. She keeps her quills laid back when she's just hanging out so they they don't hurt them when they snuggle up together."

    Looking at her here is so odd: I know the size of an adult crested porcupine so she looks tiny, but at the same time she's grown so big since her first video so she looks huge! xD Baby porcupine in a quantum state of bigness.

  • @SlyPearTree
    @SlyPearTree 7 років тому +1

    I did not realize that she would grow to be as big as you tell us in this video. Because of your capabilities and mission their must be an adult size limit to the kind of animals you can harbor. I do realize that size it not everything, each animal is an individual and might behave differently in captivity than most of its specie. Did you ever got surprised as to how well or badly an animal adapted to live in your care?

  • @cathy6828
    @cathy6828 7 років тому +1

    she totally missed a piece of food next to Jessi's foot, right before the end of the video 😂😝

  • @Quietwing
    @Quietwing 7 років тому +10

    Are Kizmit's quills sharp to the touch or does damage only happen if they're pressed into skin? Would it hurt if she accidentally backed up into you or one of her cavy friends?

    • @mortal-enemy
      @mortal-enemy 7 років тому +11

      You'd have to actually put your finger to the tip of a quill and apply pressure for it to hurt you, or accidently hold her funny while carrying her. It's pretty hard to accidentally get hurt when just chilling with a porcupine, and she'd probably have to charge you/the other animals to hurt them, which she'd warn you about well in advance as she got grumpier and grumpier. Their quills are sharp, but not razor sharp. A bit of pressure has to be applied directly to cause any injury. Just like how you can touch the tip of a knife normally and not get hurt. It's only when you press down that things get painful!

    you know, I always assumed porcupines were small. the first time I saw one in the wild, I freaked out. I was driving in the upper parts of Wisconsin, when one walked in the middle of the road. I had no idea what it was. IT WAS MASSIVE! I slammed on the brakes and waited for it to cross. IT WAS AMAZING! after I got close enough to see what it actually was. Zoos do not do animals justice. I had no idea.
