    Nice work! I currently have a complete five speed swap for a 190e. Is that a dual mass flywheel from a 190e four cylinder? Trans number 717.413 I also noticed you used a 6 cylinder flex plate for the timing tabs. Did you need to use longer bolts to make up the difference? The transmission is getting bolted to a m104 3.0-24. Also what type of clutch did you use?

    • @martinpik1
      @martinpik1  3 роки тому

      I took spacer ring out to compensate for flex plate while running stock ecu have now removed it completely and run trigger wheel on the front
      I’m running standard Sachs 190e clutch holds up well as long as you don’t launch it and take it easy
      Flywheel is is standard m102 single mass very early type which has no timing pick ups at all

Which 4 set of bolts do you have the engine arm mounts attached to as Ive been told to have them on the back 4 but its not currently working or did you have to modify the sway bar at all?

    • @martinpik1

      Hey mate go stand alone ecu,
      The 190e trans will bolt to the m104,
      You’ll need to redo sway bar if you don’t have a 2.6 190e along with different engine mounts

    hey man! little late to the party but im doing the exact same swap in my 2.0l w201 but i have some problems an i think you got the answers, or atleast your car seems to have the answers lol. i just got my engine and gearbox in after doing all the wiring. the first problem is that the engine is to high up. i think its the engine "pillows" thats the problem after some research, i hope so atleast. what engine pillows do u use? maybe a link would be nice if u have one. moste people use 2.6 pillows but there is like a 100 diffrent types and brands for the same engine.... my second problem is that the engine is very close to the radiator mount, like 5cm between them. i only have like 2-3cm in back though so im starting to think that the 104.990 is longer than the newer ones. the people iv talked to says that its not though, but you have WAY more space than me so maybe im right? that problem i think i can solve though, just wanted to see if you maybe have some more knowledge or a fix for it:) thanks in advance, really hope you see thisXD

      @LoffeSvensson 3 роки тому

      o shit haha, i should have watched the entire video first hahah. yeah i see which type of engine pillows that is and im pretty sure that you dont know what they are cause it seems as you havent changed them hahaha. im really impressed on how you havent even drilled out the spot welds for the upper radiator mount and still got the engine in haha. im gonna use a 722.6 gearbox and it would had been a pain to get in from under the car in my tiny ass garage so i hade remove it. will install it with 4 bolts instead. im gonna try buying some engine pillows that look like yours and hope for the best. if that doesnt work it must be my engine mounts. i bought my engine mounts from "kangarooteam" and they say that they are a copy of the w201 2.6 mounts but modified to move the engine 15mm back but maybe i just got scammed haha. If you have some input on how far back the engine is im still intrested to hear about it. maybe you have a insta or someting to get in contact? and btw this video is golden, it has helped me more than any other person has, even though its not about what i came for haha. thanks alot:)

So the first question: do you think i can do this too? Or is it too difficult? If not, i should consider looking at another car or just save more money. The second question is, at the end of your video, it looks like the hood/bonnet wont fully close, is this because the engine is not mounted yet? Or do you have to adjust some things inside the engine bay? Thank you in advance and really nice work and explanations!

      hey mate your English is fine, the engine swap is pretty straight forward hardest part is the engine management, a lot of people will tell you to get a different car but in my opinion the 190e is no different or harder to mod then any other car biggest issue is supply as it is very hard to get mods for Mercedes Benz so I resort to either making things my self or scouring eBay for specific parts, at the end of the day I find it more rewarding this way as not many people will have something as unique as a modified 190e,
      with the bonnet everything fits under to the hood it is very tight but definitely fits, the Kangaroos team make a lot of parts to suit the 190e and would be the best place to start unfortunately shipping to NZ isn't worth it, if you can find all the parts you want to put into the 190e then defiantly go ahead with it as its a very rewarding experience and you do learn a lot by doing it,

      @@hellothere8845 place it onto crank shaft before putting flywheel on you will need to remove some spacer rings and cut the ring gear off of the flex plate
      You want the flex plate to sit flush against flywheel so some grinding of flex plate is required
      This all depends on what pick ups are on your flywheel as there are different ones my one was out of a early 190e which had the pick ups in the distributor
