It was better then Wilhelm’s plans to invade the US in the late 1800s. Concerned that the US would hamper Germany’s global influence, the Kaiser wanted to invade the US by landing troops on Long Island or in Boston, occupying New York, and marching to Washington to shell the capital. It was a brilliant plan, considering Germany didn’t have a navy capable of any of this.
Yes, and one of the promises the germans made to japan was to give California to them once they defeated the US. In WWll they had the same plan instead Japan would take not only California but also Baja California as well and make it into a Japan protectorate.
@@ericktellez7632 Gonna call bullshit on this. Japan had zero interesting in invading the United States. They admitted this, the US government even admitted they knew that too. The most likely Japan annexation of US territory if they could pull it off was to take Hawaii and even the Japanese doubted that. The entire point of Japan raging a war against the US was fear that the US navy while neutral would disrupt Japanese shipping lanes near US colonies and that Japan was hoping for a quick win over the US navy to force the US to agree to a cease fire on Japanese terms so they could continue to fight in Asia. The Japanese Army was built to fight USSR, the Japanese Navy was built to fight UK. Japan's entire war goals in WWII was what was in the west, never the east.

@Las Armas y Fatman German immigrants also made the USA a strong and powerful country in the first place and started the anti-slavery movement in the USA (in 1688 in Germantown, Pennsilvanya).
What's funny is that if Germany had not done this, America may not have joined World War I. In addition to the isolationist foreign policy, many Americans still regarded the British with deep distrust (heck, the War Dept drew up potential war plans against them as late as the 1920s). The "Special Relationship" is a much newer development than many people think.
Interesting to know Mexico at least looked into it. And that they knew Germany was probably only seeing Mexico as a delay to sending troops to Germany.
It's like asking someone with recent stab wounds to go fight a professional boxer There was just no way to win without falling apart because of the civil wars
Also, the entire population of Mexico in those days was only 15 million, compared to 92 million for the USA. American troops would literally have outnumbered Mexico by six to one. It would have been like if Belgium launched an attack on Germany.
I’m glad these leaders had common sense and actually saw a war would be meaningless and bring more bloodshed to a country that was already going through hard times

Wow..captured basically an unarmed ship international waters (They had a few 50 caliber machine guns) what a deal..still it the biggest ship in the North Korean navy...
Britain didn't immediately inform the US. In fact they waited over a month for 2 reasons. 1. They didn't want to inform the Germans they had cracked their codes. 2. The British didn't want to tell the US they were intercepting US transmissions as well. (Germany was using Swedish and American cables to transmit the message)
This is one of the 'might have beens' of history. There's a lot that Mexico could have done to hurt the United States. However, the United States was already expanding it's military for operations in Europe. The small Regular Army that pursued Apaches and Pancho Villa had already turned into The Army of The United States. As stated: Winning it would be impossible.

2: We will need an army to funnel in the United States which we lack numbers.
3: Even if we win, we need to occupy and control Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas which will actively rebel and the world except Germany won't agree to the Annex.

Interestingly the Zimmerman telegram also asked Japan to change sides.
@@Seriona1

@@ericktellez7632 No. The Japanese had zero interest in annexing anything in the US. I know research is hard for you and you can't read English. They did not have the ability to command or control anything inside the 48. Asia was always the intended target.

I don't blame them to be honest. Mexico was in no shape to fight the Americans whatsoever plus the Germans wouldn't have been able to help them out. It was quite wise of the Mexican government not to fight the Americans and lose even MORE territory to the U.S.

Literally no one in Mexico:
Germany: Hey wanna take some land?
America: Don’t try it
What's funny is that if Germany had not done this, America may not have joined World War I. In addition to the isolationist foreign policy, many Americans still regarded the British with deep distrust (heck, the War Dept drew up potential war plans against them as late as the 1920s). The "Special Relationship" is a much newer development than many people think.
