You’re so right about “looking like a nucklenead” on UA-cam. It’s much more enjoyable to watch someone be their authentic self, even if that “self” is a bit of a goofball. It’s easy to overlook a bit of silliness from an earnest person. I don’t enjoy watching people put on an act for the camera. That’s why I follow your channel rather than other reptile UA-cam channels. I’ve never even considered owning a reptile but I love all animals and you make it so fun to learn about them. Keep on being your beautiful butterfly self Kenan!

I remember the day the Black Throats were hatching and you FaceTimed Jerry... They have definitely GROWN and watching their progress is such a joy. ! And... I agree about the knucklehead issue. It took me decades to get over being shy... now, I let my knuckle-head loose and life is so much better.

Chase has calmed down a lot in a very short time and is such a beautiful croc monitor. The black throats are getting big its crazy how fast they put on size.

How long do Croc Monitors get too? Also is the fully grown size dependent on the sex of the animals?
Ahh, Whip it, great little tune, remember it well. The lizards look great, and they are enjoying those wild rats. Kenan, always be careful about feeding wild critter, I remember a friend of mine who worked with the Audubon Society had rescued a Screech owl, a kid up the block found a garter snake and gave it to Bruce, he fed it to the owl and sadly the poor little owl died within an hour or so, apparently it had been moving through pesticides...sooo sad. Just want the animals to be safe as humanly possible. Thanks Kenan and Matt.
That tail snapping is no joke but a true, aimed weapon. Makes me imagine the huge sauropod dinosaurs, especially whip-tails like Diplodocus. And then there were the ones with hammer-tails, something even a T Rex relative would be wary of.

It's there a concern about wild caught rats being safe for the reptiles? Is there anything extra you do to make sure the rats don't have any harmful bacteria or parasites? I'm curious, not complaining. I love love the use of readily available food source for a pet.
I was thinking the same thing! I’ve heard arguments for both
He said before so pretty sure he still does it, wild game is typically(if your responsible) frozen for a time and thats supposed to make it safe. Anything live-especially wild-is rarely safe except for some captive raised bugs- even crickets are known killers. Hope that helps (:

Monitor lizards are so awesome
All of the lizards have gotten bigger. Besides slinky he's the only lizard that really hasn't changed much.

The blackthroats have the coolest enclosure (except Slinky's monster paradise of course) of all the monitors. That cave is awesome and I love the shape
I'm glad u mentioned the feeding portions. I saw a Utube video where someone force fed a snake not violently but it bothered me so much I'll never watch that channel again. So glad you feed how they would naturally eat.

I forgot to add the Minkman got rid of his argus. Turned out it was a girl and wouldn't be big enough for what he needed. It did capture a few rats before she was given up.

I wish UA-cam had been around when I had my 3 foot iguana named Reno. I had a 3" x 3" x 6" vertical cage for him indoors. My ex was afraid of him so unfortunately I had to rehome him. I have learned so much watching your channel.

Thank you for sharing this! BTW from what I've read about Lulu and her kind: these are not only the biggest-toothed lizards, but also probably the only land animal having cuttingly sharp teeth, which off course is far more familiar with predatory fish.

All you have to do if you’re going to move the animals and you know ahead of time is put some kind of a hide in there with a locking door a couple of days ahead of time so they get used to it and as soon as you noticed that they’re in there, then you can move the box and then they don’t get paranoid because so much work can be undone in one moment of having to manhandle them.
