  • Hi Loves! Welcome to the safe space!!
When I was in school I had a really hard time grounding myself in order to focus. The school I went to at the time did not allow us to have or use fidget toys with us during class. If we brought them to school or we were caught using them, they would be confiscated.
According to research that looks into the use of fidget toys and their benefits for students who struggle with ADD/ADHD, the results show a 27% increase in academic scores for those students that were allowed to use fidget toys to help them focus. The scores were even higher for those who were also diagnosed with a learning disability. Despite the research results and the commonality of disorders such as ADD/ADHD, teachers and administrators still aren’t understanding the benefits to having fidget toys in the classroom. I am hopeful that that will change in the future, but for right now we need to get creative in order to stay focused. So this video is all about hidden fidget toys with everyday items you can use if you are not allowed to use proper fidget toys in class! I hope you guys enjoy this video! If you have any other ideas please feel free to leave them in the comments below and help some people out!! As always if there are any videos that you guys would like to see me do, feel free to leave those down in the comments and I will try my best to do them for you guys! I love you all, stay safe!!

Good luck with your channel! I agree with you regarding teachers who have no clue how to teach and/or deal with kids who find it difficult to focus in the classroom. Keep up the great work!!!

Thank you so much!! I am hoping that by bringing more awareness to all of this, it will make it easier for students struggling to know that they aren't alone and that there are things that help!

my favorite sneaky fidgets at school are: folding tiny origami paper cranes, beads on a safety pin, biting the cap of a ballpoint pen, kneadable eraser, fuzzy soft pencil case, flip sequin pencil case, doodling, soft ribbon, rubbing fabric (e.g. t shirt) against eachother and tearing paper into tiniest pieces you can
that's all i can think of rn that doesn't use stim toys, they are my special interest, so i do bring them with me everywhere anyway lol

Thank you so much. My son has a lot ADD/ADHD symptoms and gets in trouble all the time. He is allowed fidget toys but they all seem to make a lot of noise and ostracizes him from the other kids in class. I’ll be making him a fidget bag of things for school and one that is a little louder for home. Thank you so much!!❤

Wow….many of these I already use and have used since grade school. I was recently diagnosed with ADD late as an adult and trying to find quiet options as my coworkers are sensitive to noises. I use the candy wrappers, rubber bands, erasers, disassembling pens and reassembling pens, click empty mechanical pencils inside my sweater pocket, fidget with the folds in my jeans and roll the ends of my shirts. Thank you for sharing your ideas. I need to try the dice and marbles!!

I love the pop cap one and I suddenly regret not thinking to keep the best ones I remember from childhood. I think the best ones was a nata coco jelly jar cap, and a cheese spread cap lol just sharing. Nice video! I miss times just sitting in lectures, I kinda like it more than being left by yourself to work on draining tasks xD

Awesome video. I’m going for my diagnosis testing soon. I’ve definitely fidgeted with most of these before, especially the pen deconstruction.

Interesting! I myself also play with dices a lot especially the casino dices! they are beautiful and if you worry if its loud, you can always toss the dices on top of a book. Nevertheless, I will try on magnets and paper clips soon!

Thank you. Since students use fidgets mostly for fun I need to hide my fidgets because they are for anxiety and nobody knows I have it and I “self-diagnosed” but I know I do have it. So I’m scared to get in trouble but thank you!!

I don't have money to buy s fidget toy at the moment, so I was looking for a video or article that had a list of potential household items I could use as alternatives. Turns out I found the perfect video. thank you for making this! The peppermint one is my personal favorite.

I am OBSESSED with using dice/die(?Idk lol)
But you know what, I'm going to use actual sensory/fidget tools this up coming school year because I panic easily. I have anxiety and i cant control my emotions/panic easily. So if i get in trouble because i have fidgets in class, thats messed up. They were "banned" at my school because people in my grade were using them even though they ddint need them, and treated them like a trend. Sad.

I used to use a clicky ballpoint pen, on which, in the clicked position, the little clicky nub thing at the end would move and softly rattle when I tilted the pen back and forth. I did that, holding it close to my ear and no one ever noticed.

You're not stupid! Most education systems aren't set up for those of us with ADHD. It can be difficult to succeed in that type of system without the ability to do things your own way! More teachers should be understanding of that. But I'm so glad I was able to help!!
