File a complaint with your state insurance board. Unfair business practices and trying to force you to drop coverage.

Never let insurance companies or assessors on your property unless you are there to walk with them. You have no way of knowing who they are or what their qualifications are to make these kind of judgements unless you're there to ask the right questions. I've been through a few of these inspections on my daughters home and in my case found that these people had zero knowledge of construction, didn't even know the current code requirements, and did most of their inspections by simply walking around the house. What they did know was how to make sure they were paid for being there.

They are corporations. They make money. A certain political party allows corporations to run the country. These corporations need government oversight. A certain party does everything they can to remove government oversight. All this make sense? It should.

I would try changing car insurance and bundling in your house, that would probably work.

The insurance company is trying to drop you for some reason. Some bean counters have changed criteria and it sounds shady. As suggested maybe state insurance board could help but not hopeful as they could be in someone's pocket. Discouraging world sometimes.
Yeah after going through this it's obvious to me that the insurance companies are completely against these old houses. Which is a shame. They are obviously solid along with character. Good news is that we won this battle today!

It's a pity that being over 100 years old, you can't get a Historical society to help designate the house/ root cellar on a registry somewhere. Then the insurance companies might back the h** off.
Good news is that yesterday they FINALLY approved it!

Another case of a company too big to care about its customers.
I was in the ER hospital for 3 days & 1st. of America charged me a $25.00 late fee & until I paid $25.00 I couldn't have a C/C. In the long run, I had to cancel an appointment the next day as I had no cash money.
I'm 91 years old.
I wish this country could go back to the 50s. That's when people cared about kindness.

Hi CJ insurance companies are the ones who run the country and gov doesn't want wood stoves or pellet stove stoves or oil furnace or gas furnace. Sorry your getting the run around. My son and I both use pellets. He was told to replace his heat source or they won't insure. Best of luck and have a nice safe Thanksgiving to all of you. ❤ prayers

I think by the time I've watched this you guys have gotten certified & most of the problems have ended. My 2 cents on the root cellar is wipe it with some wet mud as much as you can. It will darken all that mortar & help moss grow on it making it look more natural. Love Ya Bud, Dirty Jersey out!!

Yeah Dave I brought up the same thing to my auto insurance company and she still acted like that wouldn't be good enough for them either.

I hope everything works out soon. When I first moved into my house I had Farmer's insurance and we had the same trouble a year later. We ended up getting different insurance.
I'm past that point of getting anyone now that I'm a red flag of getting dropped
