- Go take a look at my build on the Rockboard Board Configurator:

I've been gigging with the Darkglass Microtubes Infinity for a year now and it's probably time for me to finally build a board with it. I usually use a combination of other pedals with my Darkglass drives and I've always wanted to use those with the Infinity as well. This board is compact, light and gives me all the tones that I rely on to produce a great show night after night!

Hi! My name is Paajanenae and I've been in the musical instrument business for more than seven years and counting. I'm bringing all the knowledge I've acquired about gear and tones to my reviews in an effort to help you find the right gear and make informed decisions on those. My main instrument is bass and I'm always looking to improve my tones and push the boundaries of modern bass tones, but I can handle myself around guitar too.

That board configurator is a genius invention!
Looking awesome Paj! \m/
Thanks! 🔥
Awesome pedalboard man🔥 btw, what specific sound did you like from pd7 in the signal chain?
Thank you so much for your video. I was ready to move on from pd-7 till you showed it’s still good booster clean.
The PD7 is actually a very bad pedal and you should definitely ship it to me so I can dispose of it properly 😍 ehm 🤧
@@Paajanenae really? It’s seems limited but cheaper to keep her
@@straightface60 Hahah seriously, I love that pedal! Gives all my tones a bit more brightness and clarity
I think I already have four 🌚
Very cool pedalboard, indeed ... the powersupply issues, I can totally relate: My infinity stops working when I use my Line6 G30 (which I basically always do, wireless ftw) while everything is connected to a Harley Benton powersupply. I now daisychain my G30, the infinity and my compressor to a 1spot powersupply ... this works surprisingly well so far.
So if you have a darkglass digital pedal (adam, infinity, photon) and are using a second high ampere pedal on the small harley benton powersupply, your infinity may shut off (dg support says that the smallest harley benton cannot provide the full 500 mA on two outputs)
Yeah always make sure that your power supply matches the pedals you're using!
Awesome tone my guy
Oh and the tuner is included in the Darkglass pedal right? Saves a spot. Great tone man
Yes! It's what makes this board possible 😎
That was my only negative, but I guess I didn't realize all the Darkglass pedal can do. @@Paajanenae
Will be more awesome if you have some space safe in front of SS compressor for a wireless pedal👍
Why leave extra space when you can just build a new board once the time comes to go wireless? 😍
Nice tone! did you upload the settings in darkglass suite ?
Thank you! I've got a few tones in the Suite and those are still what I'm running in the Infinity, with only minor EQ tweaks :) I plan on doing a deep dive into this board and Infinity perhaps during Christmas to fully optimize my tones for this.
You are one of the best bass inspirations for me on UA-cam especially tonewise. My current pedalboard consists of : Ebs Multicomp ( I use it on multicomp Mode on utility level settings with comp 2 o clock. Then instead of Pd7 I added TC electronics spark boost ( I use it on clean Mode on gain at 0 level at utility , bass and treb at same settings with you on the video sometimes i boost the trebs to flat depending on my pickup selector, then Mxr M89 with gain at 0 tone almost all the way up 5 o clock clean at flat and utility level and I still have B7K for the main course. I know you mentioned about the Microtubes Infinitys clean parallel signal option in the related video.
I have 2 questions If you do not get bothered
1) For live situations do you also use the parallel output to mixer to split the signal to clean on the mixer and normal output from directly to the cabin or do you also use heads?
2) For home practice or recording ( this video is an example ) , do you also split the signal regardless of Microtubes Infinity's splitting the signal option.
I pretty much never split the signal in any way 😄 Live the FoH only gets the mix ready signal with all my processing and the same applies to most home recording. If I record something for an album I use an external pedal to split the signal before my board to get a dry DI, just in case something happens and we need to reamp or something.
@@Paajanenae If you do that s the right way dude 🤟
love the tone. Do you connect direct in FOH with this pedal board? or do you do one signal goes into an amp and the other goes into FOV? Or do you use a FRFR speaker?
I connect straight to FOH via the XLR out! Sometimes in practice sessions I've connected one of the 1/4" outputs without cabsim to an amplifier and cab, but that hasn't really worked for me.
Awesome review, and brutal tone. Have you tried the Skarbassone yet ?
Thank you, I have not. I've been trying to stay away from trying new things for a while now 😄 Pretty happy where my tone is at currently
@@Paajanenae Yeah, there are limits to one’s bank account .. :) Followed you with the board plus pedals. Sounds awesome, but as I read good reviews on the compressor of the Skarbassone, swapped my hyper luminal compressor with it. At first sight, sounds amazing, but get the impression that the tone gets a bit too overcooked. Had to lower the volume as it was just too strong. Need to finetune it a bit… :) For people who don’t want to spend a lot of money on the infinity, this Skarbassone seems a good alternative, if you don’t need a DI out ..
@@bartjans221 Yeah my impressions from watching the SkarBassOne wasn't really great for my uses but I'll need to try one out at some point to be sure! Seems like a neat one-stop-shop though :)
I am getting the Infinity soon and your videos have been a good guidance for this! Thanks for the thorough reviews =) After watching this one, I was wondering if we couldn`t use the Infinity specifically as a booster in one of its 6 presets? I have a Boss overdrive ODB which I was thinking about getting rid of after getting the Infinity, but in case the Infinity can`t do its job for booster, do you think I could maybe use it only for this purpose?
I'm not entirely sure what you mean as a booster here! If you're running the Infinity to some other amps then sure you can set one preset to be a bit louder than the rest. In my use the PD7 is not a volume boost, but a pre-gain tone shaper :)
@@Paajanenae Sorry yes, I meant literally a volume booster in case I'd like the bass to stand out a bit in some parts. So it's doable then =)
@@fredericoaragao Yeah definitely! I sometimes use a bit cleaner tone with a slight boost for one section :)
If I could ask another question :) I have been playing with the Microtubes Infinity with a headphone and it sounds really good. However when I tried playing it connected with an amplifier, somehow I couldn't get any distorted sound, even though the volume and EQ worked normally). I don't know if I did something wrong in how I connected the cables. If I'm using the infinity as the very last pedal of my pedalboard, do I just connect one of its outputs (right or left) into the "input" from the amplifier? @@Paajanenae
@@fredericoaragao You've probably got the settings in the app mixed up! There's different options in the app on which kind of signal is fed to which output and those are really helpful :) maybe check those
Great sounds and vid, got me kinda wanting to try a pork and pickle.
What pickup position were you using on the Dingwall?
It's great when paired with a brighter distortion! It's a bit too dark alone to my taste. I was using the neck & bridge in parallel on the Dingwall ✌️
@@Paajanenae sweet! What mode do you find yourself preferring on the Infinity? Just snagged an old Darkglass b3k with boost 1 and 2 settings, its killer so far.
Also curious to the one good sound you’re referring to from the Ibanez pedal?
I tend to only use the B3K mode full band on the Infinity, but with this board I think I'll need to start experimenting more with the other modes. The clean tone for example could be a bit warmer and cleaner for some sections.
The only good sound in the PD7 is the clean mode with Attack off.
@@Paajanenae Im surprised that you're not using the attack on the clean mode, but your tone still sounds great!
Though i am interested how the attack would sound with a dingwall, would you ever do a demo of the pd7?
@@babkakiepskagamestv Thanks! The Attack ruins the sound, it boosts treble from way too high and cuts out a lot of the good middle boost this pedal gives. Middle is where the definition in your sound comes from, without that it's just pick scraping and mud 😄
Hey Paaj, I can see the pork and pickle with gain at minimum, what is it ading to the signal chain, is it like a second boost on top of the PD-7?
Even with gain at 0 it doesn't fully clean up! It also has a limited headroom which adds this "squish" to the tone that makes it feel like its super loud
@paajanenae surprised the Hyper Possum didn't make the cut! Or does it get tacked on when needed?
The Hyper Pozzum is not something I use daily in my current modern metal projects, but I do grab it every time I need some extra hair to my tones!
I’m super new to pedals but isn’t the DI for the Infiniti best at the end of the chain if you’re using that plug at your gig?
Yes, that's why it is at the end of the chain 😄 The signal with pedals always goes from right to left
@@Paajanenae mind blown.
I recently remembered you demonstrating how the infinity sound gets punchier with the other distortion pedals in front, so I just tried that out yesterday with my B3k in front of the infinity and BOY that was an upgrade to my sound :)
Glad you liked it! Stacking dirt can make all the difference :)
THAT is my dream Dingwall...sigh....
Time to go for it B)
