    Nearing the end of the Second World War, the situation in the entire European theatre was chaotic. People went missing, never to be found again, others purposefully disappeared. We’ve all probably heard of Nazis fleeing to Argentina to start a new life there or about Operation Paperclip, the secret program to recruit German scientists, engineers and technicians. Now, it is a bit more likely that you haven’t heard of the most senior Nazi that vanished in the wake of the Second World War: Heinrich Müller, also known as Gestapo-Müller. Presumed to have committed suicide or killed during the final days of the Second World War, a series of events and KGB defectors in the 1960s suddenly cast much doubt on his fate.

    Born in München, Bavaria in 1900 Müller volunteered for the German army in 1917, during the last year of the First World War. He served as a pilot with distinction earning the Iron Cross decoration. Following Germany’s defeat in 1918, he joined the police force of München. The years of the Weimar Republic were incredibly tumultuous with violence from communists and right-wing extremists alike. The police were, in theory, supposed to maintain peace and order. But Bavarian police were notorious for collaborating with right-wing paramilitary organisations. Müller rapidly rose through the ranks as a competent and ambitious policeman. Because of police protocol, he could not join any ideological or political movement, and he wouldn’t until after Hitler came to power.
    In 1929 Müller was promoted to secretary of the ‘Politische Polizei’, a department of the Bavarian Police that was solely responsible for combating communist organisations. Following Hitler’s power-grab in 1933 and him becoming Führer in august 1934, Müller joined the Schutzstaffel, more commonly known as the SS. This elite force was the principal agency of security and surveillance within Nazi-Germany. As you can imagine, a man such as Müller with adequate experience prosecuting communists was a valuable asset to the organisation. The SS leadership recognised him for his efficiency, diligence and dedication. After joining the SS, he transferred to Berlin. There he started working for the Geheime Staatspolizei, or Gestapo. The literal translation of this body was the secret state police. It had been created the year before under supervision of Hermann Göring. In the next several years, the Gestapo would grow out to be one of the most efficient and dangerous intelligence organisations the world has ever seen.
    Müller quickly rose through the ranks of the Gestapo although he only joined the NSDAP, Hitler’s party in 1938, because not being a member prevented him from rising as quickly as he wanted to. Besides that, he also served as commander of the Sicherheitsdienst, which was the intelligence department of the SS.

    So the senior Nazi who had knowledge of and access to the forgery operation the SS ran AND who happened to be a skilled veteran pilot, disappeared at the end of the war. Furthermore, this guy made it his career to find people who definitely did not want to be found. Is it possible he learned what the best methods of hiding were during his time as head of the Gestapo?

    My pet theory is that the body in the grave (as suggested by another amateur historian) is actually Hermann Fegelein's. His body was never found, but the morgue attendant apprently said it was a Gruppenfuherer's uniform with no decoration and the man was shot in the back. That would match some of the stories surrounding Fegelein's death. Then Muller, or one of his men just slipped his ID into the dead man's pocket and off he went. It wolud be interesting if they could exhume the body and do DNA testing.

    I follow a treasure hunter from Mexico that has a channel here on UA-cam using a metal detector. He had heard a legend about a Nazi soldier that had showed up after ww2 and had moved into a shack outside of town in the middle of nowhere and only come to town a couple of times a year for supplies. He went out to the site and actually found Nazi coins which confirmed that the tale was true. He's probably one of these war criminals.

      The fact that numerous people were killed by the Gestapo, I would have assumed he had all of their background information and could assume many people's identities. Those who likely had few relatives or friends and who had an established paper trail could merely have fake papers made to fit him. The invading forces would have to use the German's identification documents when they took over.
      I somewhat suspect the rumors were fake rumors created by the Soviets in order to cause chaos and see if the wrongful information reappears somewhere indicating they had a leak or spy somewhere. If they tell one of their operatives that this guy was working for them and Western intelligence starts trying to find out if it was true, then they know they have a problem with that operative.

      @HoH  3 роки тому

      HoP videos take well over 10 hours to research because I use multiple books (and actually read them all). It is why the series has lasted for over 6 months and I have actually been working on it since June 2019 (!).
      These videos are a bit easier. I usually read 2-3 chapters of books on the relevant subject and then spend another few hours writing the script. Recording & editing takes around 8 hours per video. In short: it's far from cost-efficient but I really enjoy this as a hobby and potentially something bigger in the future.
      Yes, I have a degree both in History and in Political Science.

    Martin Bormann was the most senior Nazi to disappear after the war. He was named as Hitler’s successor in Hitler’s last will and testament. He was sentenced to death in absentia at Nuremberg. His escape was covered up with a carefully “discovered” skeleton that Martin Bormann’s own family refused to take custody of. When Adolf Eichmann was captured by Mossad, his oldest son traveled to Germany and attempted to surrender Martin Bormann’s whereabouts to those in charge of the Bormann Manhunt. They stonewalled Eichmann son and sent him back to South America. Look into the Laurence De Mello UA-cam Channel for more on the cover up. As for Gestapo Muller, he lived to be 92 years old.

      @@sirstephen9825 actually it wasn't confirmed, the bones that turned out to be Boorman's were dumped at sea by the Germans after doing the analysis,and there was evidence of red clay on the bones that isn't found in Germany,there is strong possibility he ended up in Argentina, and died there. If it was on the level,whu did they dispose of the bones? My guess is because it would be embrassing that Boorman escaped, as many did, was never found,and also that groups like the Red Cross and the Catholic church helped him escape via the so called rat lines.

      @@sirstephen9825 Yes,that isn't in dispute. The question is were the bones in Germany the whole time ie since 1945, or had Borman gotten to Argentina and died there decades later? The report mentions the bones were encased in a red clay that apparently is found nowhere in Germany but is common in certain parts of Argentina. One of the suspicious things is the Germans after analyzing the bones didn't save them or bury them,they dumped them at sea...why? On the show Hunting for Hitler they couldn't understand why unless they had something they wanted to cover up. Among other things,bone analysis could tell them how long the bones had been buried, if he had died in Berlin in 1945 they would show different decay then if had died decades later in Argentina.
