It's a very common thing I call "UA-camr Blindness". A dev could make the shiniest, most obvious and even mandatory thing, and a youtuber will still be oblivious to it.
This wasn't made by one of the former KSP devs, this was made by THE ksp dev. HarvesteR/Felipe was the guy who tried to quit his advertising job to follow his dream of making a game about building rockets. His boss said no, then promoted him to head their all new game dev division and the rest is rocket science.
My cousin used to build RC planes (Think, 10 foot wingspan, gas powered B-17) and he had a game like this that he showed me. The player's POV stayed on the ground, though, where it would be IRL.
I fly RC planes with only 1 battery, the motor needs so much more power even if there where no safe-guards it would just stop working before the rest. Also said safe-guards make sure the plane is still controllable after the motor stops. Just saying. Thanks for sharing this, im looking forward to this game so much!
Dammit Splitsie! Stop showing me games I want! You’re making my wallet cry. Edit: I know the default keybinds match KSP, but you may find it a bit easier to control if you swap the Yaw and Roll keys, especially when you’re dogfighting with the rest of the crew. You’ll be using pitch and roll more often than yaw, so having roll more easily available for you should help.
I think I'd just get weirded out by roll not being Q/E after the many thousands of hours in various games (especially space engineers) where that's the case
This looks "not half bad". The physics model seems mostly sorted and the model building seems to be progressed a fair way. Content/mission-wise, it looks rather like a vertical slice of gameplay - with a long way to go. I think I can see where the progression part of the gameplay is going. Depending on the asking price when it goes into early access next week, I think I'll be giving this a crack.
#1- It's an early-access game, as such there will be missing features. This is not something you're allowed to judge it for. #2- Do NOT be a cheapskate. The asking price is more than fair, no complaints are allowed.
You could justify the control after the battery is dead by assuming it cuts power to the motors when there's still power for the control actuators. I wonder if the single player will be robust enough since I'm probably not going to do much multiplayer
A bit Janky...but looks like fun Janky... interesting to see how many people you could get in. Games like insane off-road started to get super funny when you get to 4 plus in there...ie. the can we all ramp together and meet mid air...can tank squash 3 cars...etc. Hard to have designing in multiplayer but this looks like it might work.
Wasn't this game originally called BALSA. Model club? and i also remember it having another name not so long ago too, wierd. Nvm, just seen further and as you said it was indeed the first version that was called BALSA.
yes, it originally started out as Balsa, but it evolved and was expanded enough to be worthy of a new name. It then became Kitbash model club, which (due to external factors) was finally changed to KitHack Model Club. We have really come a long way from the Balsa release of a couple years ago. We've overhauled just about everything.
That first rocket on the plane went about as badly as I could have hoped. So funny.
Splitsie not reading through the whole tutorial tooltip and wondering why things aren't going well is somewhat ironic as a tutorial-maker himself.
I always feel guilty reading too much when I'm streaming, I really should let myself slow down :P
@@Flipsie Maybe just a smidge, but I think it'll be entertaining either way
@@Flipsie should check out From the depths for this on a bigger scale ;) though this nice :D

I hedged my bets because I was only 90% sure that was the case - should've gone with my gut :D
@@Flipsie All good, I'd probably say the same if unsure. I just wanted to add onto what you said since the guy deserves it :)
If only there was a tooltip that said, Go to Vehicle 'F'...

I'd love to see thermal and ridge lift in this! also flying wings are a thing and super cheap :)
Someone in chat said that thermals were indeed a thing, or at least planned to be
That rocket was worth the wait.
Center of mass should be at the wing quarter chord location I believe. So 1/4 of the total wing’s width, from the front of it.
Correction, the center of lift is at the quarter chord point.
"Full force aaand... throw!"😂

@@Flipsie Fair enough. Might be worth the experiment though, since the game’s still so new.
IS it out? Is it OUT????
is it out???????
damm... not yet....
(snorting more hype and waiting) :D
15th April in the americas according to Steam. Early AM 16th April for those of us in "the @r$e-end of the world" - Only a week to wait!
This looks like a really fun game.
@38:00 "yellow submarine" :)

That makes sense, would be an important basic safety feature I imagine
1:03:00 Just add more rockets but to individual control groups.
The RBLF is not surprised that the Splitsie does not know what to do with a Battery. Not surprised at all… 😂😂😂

I think when you started your time trial at the end you didn't charge your battery first. You started at 80% charge
Legit hovered over balast thinking how make rocket go pfffft.
Rc gliders are generally really heavy with up to half a kg of lead in the nose.
Can you make "helicopter" style RC's or is it limited to just planes?
I'm not sure yet
