    At the age of 63, I don't have many regrets in my life, but if I had a tutor of your dexterity and ability to conferce with other's, then my path and maybe a lot of my age would of taken different paths. Thank you for sharing your skills.

    Any reason for not putting flashing tape around the opening before fitting the window? Seems to be a big deal in the US but not so much over here. Top work as always Robin 👍

    • @olafbigandglad
      @olafbigandglad Рік тому

      Flashing tape really only works if the windows have a nailing flange.

    Nice job as always, but why rebate the template if u just had went up and down in the opposite direction with the saw?

    • @ukconstruction
      @ukconstruction  Рік тому

      Hi Colin, did you miss the part where I explain why I had to rebate the template???? it is because to reach the full depth of the blade and get through all the material then the motor housing needed to be allowed for in the thickness of the board that I used as a template....... Check the video back and to where I explain

    Great looking windows there robin. Who did final assembly of the windows? They looks good. I thought smart was the aluminium extrusion company but I wasn't sure they made the finished window I might be totally wrong. Thanks x

    that's a serious vapour barrier. Please can I ask what it is, other than black plastic? I'll be building a couple of garden rooms in the new few months and want to get the VB right. Thanks Robin.

    • @ukconstruction
      @ukconstruction  Рік тому +1

      There are numerous vapour barriers available from liquid and paintable to sheet membranes such as plastic, I sometimes use a full on technical breather membrane like I used in my pool (there is a video about the pool ceiling) or we use the standard green plastic membrane, however as I was using this building as the workshop while we where building our house I put a thicker plastic vapour barrier in to avoid damage while we where swinging loads of timber around etc!! That's the only reason.. oh and its not much more to buy than the thin green stuff

    nice job Robin, can I ask why didn't you cut a hole for the window when you was building the cabin and just cover it over till you was ready ?

    • @ukconstruction
      @ukconstruction  Рік тому +1

      Hi Stuart, I mentioned the reason why I did not do this at the time of design/construction in the video where I explained that we did not know exactly where we needed them, it's sometimes hard to predict exactly with a big building like this

    When your viewing the video before pressing play the text would be better with a different coloured outline as you cant really read it. Keep up the good work

    Nice work. Could you not of just made the windows to width from stud to stud to save all the extra work tho. Looks like it's only around 40mm or so difference. Love the windows BTW.

    • @ukconstruction
      @ukconstruction  Рік тому

      Hi Jony, the regulations for the minimum opening width of the window for fire escape purpose dictated the finished sizes, we need a clear opening of 450mm minimum to comply, and when you factor the frame into the setting out this means that you need to move over one stud

    i think you should have put the hose on as that dust has gone absolutely everywhere 😳
    really nice and simple idea though

    • @ukconstruction
      @ukconstruction  Рік тому +4

      I mentioned in the video why I was not planning on using the dust extraction because the hose would have hindered me and we where outside etc
