  • A podcast documentary describing the magnificent life of Richard Beauchamp, 13th Earl of Warwick (1382-1439), written and produced by Adam Busiakiewicz & Aaron Manning.
Friend to Henry V, tutor to Henry VI, Richard Beauchamp can be considered to have been one of the greatest knights of Medieval England. A hero of Henry's campaigns in France, his extraordinary life is captured in the famous Beauchamp Pagaent, held at the British Library in London.
Alongside Richard's pursuits as a knight and courtier, he was also a significant patron of the arts. The outstanding Beauchamp Chapel, attached to St Mary's Collegiate Church in Warwick after his death, remains one of the most exquisite examples of Medieval Architecture to survive in England.
Adam Busiakiewicz and Aaron Manning are historians of Warwick Castle and its Earls. For any further information please get in touch: a.busiakiewicz@live.co.uk / warwickhistorian@gmail.com

@@TheLadyPlantagenet because old bones have DNA that can be replicated.

@@NinjaGrrrl7734 no, as in how would she/he have access to the bone dna. The government doesn’t just dig up dead earls and tests their bones on people’s whim.

Richard II s mental health issues must have helped bring on theWar of the Roses, encouraging power hungry and already powerful dukes like Lancaster, Henry Bolingbroke who became Henry IV ... they were honing in on the opportunity. many weak kings in this dynasty like King John, Henry III, Edward II, Richard II, Henry VI...one after the other, and quite recently, in the previous dynasty, William the Conqueror s sons William II and Henry I , and cousin Stephen were considered very poor kings as well...
with all the powerful wealthy dukes and other nobles of strong character hanging around in the wings through all these reigns, it is no wonder there was constant fighting as many nobles probably thought that they could do better ...
it is no wonder that when the Tudor dynasty took power, Henry VII was considered a bit paranoid and prone to removing or cutting the power of nobility and other royalty... and he was followed by Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, who also seemed to understand maintaining control
