  • We recently took the new Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid priced at RM136,550 on a road trip from Kuala Lumpur to Penang Island. Toyota claims it can do 4.3L/100 km but it has a smaller tank than the Perodua Myvi....how economical will it be with 3 passengers and cargo?

Just bought this car. I have been using it since last March & I get about 22-23km/L with mixed usage between the highway, city, and heavy traffic. Always keep the RPM Indicator optimally around ECO and Charging, occasionally in Power when using the cruise control.

I have been driving this car since Friday (3days) . Superb vehicle and excellent fuel consumption . Having an electronic brake is irrelevant. The push foot parking brake works just fine . The fuel tank capacity is more than sufficient for long rides. Immediate indication of fuel savings. Toyota vehicles are very very reliable . I have been driving only Toyotas for decades. The best second hand value car. Just got an excellent price for a 12 year old Vios.

@@aryliciousxd2478 I have now driven 800 km with this hybrid. It’s giving me 4.8 litres per 100 km or approximately 22km per litre. However, I have kept my speed about 80km per hour with controlled acceleration. There is a power mode which gives amazing acceleration where the dashboard screen turns red. There is also the normal mode and eco mode. Almost all my driving is on eco mode in urban settings. This is excellent value for money over the long term financially even after considering the extra RM 8000 paid upfront. These are the basic facts based on my own experience and does not consider any personal likes or dislikes.

i`m not very impressed with 7.3liter / 100 km these are numbers can be reach by many none hybrid cars and it is far of the claimed 4.3L/100km
    7.3L / 100km = 13.7km / Liter
Also you say 1 quarter tank left from 36 liter = 9 liter
with that 9 liter it shows you a range left of 93 km
This means the last quarter tank gives you a range of 93km which is roughly 1 liter to 10km
    Which is really very bad

I think UMW Toyota should have chosen marathon city driving to showcase the hybrid system. A recent test by Taiwanese journalist driving the Altis Hybrid for 8 hours around Taipei City and the FC was 21km/L ~ 4.8L/100KM. The hybrid strength is regenerating during slow moving and braking which highway driving not able to do. Even my 2.5L non hybrid Toyota also did a 6.7L/100Km on highway from KL to Penang, so UMW could have shown the value of Hybrid in city driving instead.

With the GR Sport version, it feels more powerful with hard acceleration and the growl of the engine sounds normal and not so loud in comparison to the hybrid. I have a regular prius at 200,000 miles it had never needed a repair. At 201k it needed around $1k of repairs - it's uncredible. My previous car (a buick) had to be junked at 140k miles and numerous repairs.
