  • In this video, you will learn how to test your starter real simple before taking your starter to the auto parts. you will learn all three steps: Solenoid, Motor and Overide Clutch testing. the goal of this video is for you to understand the function of the different elements that make up the starter and to help you diagnose starting problems with a more accurate approach. video done by Jesus Cabrera of Chabot College MCOM 61.

    I have used this video 3 different times in the last 6 months. I now find myself giving the thumbs up sign and pointing. I'm hooked!

    This is the best and shortest video that covers everything you'll need to know about troubleshooting the starter.. and the guy who made it thumbs up all the way - great job music and the mechanic are perfect and especially when you cut the music to hear the engaging of the components, very profesional. THANK YOU !

    Labeled all the posts on the solenoid - that was very helpful. Plus where to hook up the starter switch. Result was I got mine tested in about as much time as it took me to watch the video. Thanks!

    Great Video!! Busy fixing my wifes car and suspected the starter motor. After this video saved alot of money by testing and found that the solenoid was faulty and only replaced that.
    Thank guys

    This is probably the best tutorial for a starter that I have ever watch. Thank you so much. I took my starter in for repairs but it came back and the auto guys said there is nothing wrong with it lol. So now I know exactly what to look for. God Bless you guys.
    Thanks again

    Pretty good instructions for deaf people but for people with hearing, it's nice to hear a clear voice and hear starter motor noises, instead of having to mute and unmute when it looked like starter noise was happening. For the amateurs at least. :D

    it sounds like you are doing everything right. if your overide clutch test failed it just means your motor turns when you are trying to crank your vehicle but does not engage with flywheel. all you need is to replace the overide clutch and you got a working starter if solenoid and motor tests are good. You can replace the entire unit if you want, but i dont know if thats a better choice in terms of money. know what i mean.

  • @jc5645
    @jc5645  12 років тому

    hello ggoodan! thanks for checking out my vid. first of all make sure your starter is installed properly in the vehicle and that everything is in place. check for battery voltage. once is done and you have full battery voltage, then you probably need to test your ground and make sure you have a strong ground because what happens is that when you rebuilt something or swap your engine....forgetting to connect a ground terminal is very typical, so make sure you have good ground on the engine.
