“Ork psychology, it’s like “I don’t want this bullet. Here, you have it!” Holy crap I love this kid, he’s actually pretty funny.
I stopped the vid for 5 minutes to laugh to that joke. It was unexpected, smart and amazing
ork players are just always happy thats how it always is and they are dangerous!
Two orkz are in the middle of a Waaaaagh when one is hit in the chest with a bolter round that miraculously doesn't detonate. The ork who was shot removes the round and turns turns to the other ork, saying "Ah, zog, I didn't want no humie bullit, Oi'm too busy krumpin'! 'ere, you take it." The second ork takes the bolter round, and it detonates in his hand, killing him instantly.
¡Jajajajajaja!

SOME BODY
god emperor Farquad
Im gonna guess its Rimmer's speach on waxworld from Red Dwarf.... this man knows his brit coms :)
"Choose one of your units to be my target."
"I choose Makari."
Smart young man.
I like to imagine that the Dark Angel survivors were looking at this little green creature with utter dejection. James won the battle and left with the Dark Angel's pride.
Omg that little pause where they hugged and the "Thanks for playing with me"
Aw my heart. Aww my poor heart
I love Nick looking at the camera like "you seeing how cute this is????"
@@Speedbob2438 I was more suprised not seeing that permant affective grin on his face, but I think that is just me.... too much for me.... but nice to see him be normal
fr i wish my dad wasnt such an alcoholic piece of shit, would have been nice to have this kind of relationship
Such wholesome moment.
Chris didn't make a mistake when he thought terminators were 2 wounds, the Orks just beleived they were easier to kill.
“Belial trips on his cloak and falls on his face” deserves to be on a shirt and made into a TTS skit!
Abso-bloody-lutley
It’s a tragedy that TTS is no more.
@@jonathantheslowTbh I never found it funny or engaging personally
Does it explode? Yes! Nick out of no where: YAAAAAAAAAY!
Gotta love those explosions.
As a dad that's gotten his wife and both kids into the hobby - this episode is my favorite to date.
That's awesome 😎
Wish I could get my wife to the table. She is very supportive, however. I'm lucky that way
Have y’all done a 2v2 before?
With your wife and family, what armies do they have?
you must be rich
Dude has no clue how lucky he is to have such a cool dad
I hope that our little one, almost 6 months old, will perhaps also be interested in this hobby and model making. ok if not ok too. But hope dies last😁
For those of us fortunate enough to know him, Chris really is a top rank human.
I reckon based on their interactions with each he probably does! This one really tugged on my heartstrings lol. My son is 6 and ive just unpacked all my 40k stuff after 25 years and im not sure which one of us is more excited about it lol
Unless your eyes were shut, you could clearly see how happy they both were. He definitely knows how lucky he is
Yeah. wish i had a dad
Love how you guys didn’t talk down to James just becuase he’s younger, I often see younger players being talked down to but you guys gave him the respect he deserved. Great game and I hope both players return some day, it was a great battle that was super funny
Cheers to all the mini-wargaming dads out there, you're rocking it!
Spoilers:
It is a fathers greatest joy to watch their sons surpass them. I think everyone was a winner in this one. Including the audience!
This has rapidly become one of my favorite battle reports of theirs.
Hahahahaha yessss, I was cheering for the lad the whole way through and it came down to that last clutch roll........ I was worried for him after his secondary choice bit him in the first turn (honestly I think against MEQ that was a pretty gnarly tactical error) but it worked out quite nicely for da boyz.
18:49 that random hug is everything. Everyone deserves love like that.
This is awesome I’m 15 have been playing since I was 9 and I absolutely love ORKS and this guy takes a similar list to what I take! Just so awesome to watch very relatable honestly hope we see him more a WAAAAAAAAGH!
Orks and Dark Angels are my favorite factions. I’m playing both sides so I always come out on top
Big Brain Palpatine play.
“Why would you tell me that?”
I prefer Salamanders in terms of lore but I love that dark green and white color scheme too!
Can't wait to watch this! Let's go ladz! It's time ta Krump some beakies!
"If I win, he has to paint his own models"
That sounds like a victory to me. Building and painting is the best part!
But from the sound of it, kid seems to have not been painting so it's gonna be a pain for him to screw him the model colors
But that didn't happen and I suppose he now possessed kill team and Necrodum
A win-win situation!
I cried a little bit at the end there. The look of joy on both Father and Son's faces at the end there. As his Son holds the Victor shirt and the pride in the Father's face. Right in the feelings man.
It was a great moment in studio for all of us too!
You all have really created an amazingly unique battle report channel. Thank you so much for your combined efforts and tedious work! Hope y'all never stop!
This kid is awesome. He definitely has “big waaagh energy”
Get this kid and his dad more on the channel! An amazing change of pace to your games. This was awesome! PLAY ON!
As a 40K enthusiast with a 12-year-old son, I can certainly relate to the joy one gets from tossing around some dice with your boy for an afternoon.
Never seen battle report with this feeling . so warm and smiling while watched.
Hope to see battle report like this video again. Sooooooo Niceeeeee
Me too :)
I loved how this teen opened up and became more comfortable and open throughout, best vid yet
SPOILERS
Makari fails his 2++ in Dark Angels Turn 4 at 37:57
From this point on Makari should lose the Suspiciously Lucky special rule and would have actually died in Dark Angels' Turn 5 shooting! Meaning a win for Chris!
Fantastic game however, thoroughly enjoyed watching both players do their thing!
Yes but they forgot and still gave him the win.
To be fair there's a lot of rules they whiffed on so it really doesn't matter, like for instance denying attacks by removing casualties isn't something you can actually do, since all attacks on the same unit go off at once regardless of weapon options so you can't remove models to deny further attacks. Also the game would have gone very differently if they had remembered that termies are 3 wounds not 2, but he took a fair few advantages of the bent rules whilst the orks didn't on anything else so it balances out.
Yeah my friend has orks and as soon as makari fails that save he's pretty much dead.
@@captainweekend5276 Are you referring to the Trukk charge into the marines on the container ?
@@radekpazdera4560 No, I'm referring to at 10:05 when he removes two marines after the nob with the power snappa attacks to deny further attacks from the orks. He does a similar thing later with his terminators. In practice the attack can be made as long as it was in range when the attack was declared, even if casualties are removed, it works the same way for shooting too. It's probably one of the rules that people get wrong most often without realising they've been playing it wrong. If you want to look it up it's page 73 of GT 2021 "Note that all the attacks you have declared are always resolved against the target unit even if, when you come to resolve an individual attack, no models in the target unit remain in range (this can happen because of models being destroyed and removed from the battlefield as the result of other attacks made by the attacking model's unit first)."
This was such a fun game! I love the combination of tournament grinders and just some good old fashioned tabletop games as well.
Each episode gets better and better, you guys are doing incredible work!
Dark angels should've won this one. The first time Makari fails a save roll, he looses his 2+ invuln. Still a great game though
I was wondering if anyone else was going to catch that
@@RisonAz same lol I was like lol what. Didn’t pay much attention to it cuz it’s more of a friendly match
@@tidal_overdrive536 he didn't had the +1 st on charge so they were not playing orks 9th
Also fuck that rule
and orks 9th in general
@@maxmaxmax5359 The dakkajet had 36 shots which means they are playing the 9th edition codex. The +1 strength doesn't matter a lot of the time since they Deathwing units have permanent transhuman so it would have only come up against the phobos units.
That is the power of the RNG.
Well if this doesnt just tug on the ol heart strings! I'm in 40k heaven right now as recently ive finally got back into the game. Started a pretty nice size Blood Angel army when i was 12, which was 26 years ago, and quickly realized it was next to impossible to play then as there was no one to play with for me back then. Life goes on, and only recently unpacked everything and realized some friends also play! On top of it my son is 6 and is totally stoked about the game and ive got him started on an army of his own!
Love hearing these kind of stories. I hope you and your son really enjoy yourselves.
Can't wait for this guys , much love to Play On team al the way from South Africa keep on doing the great work !!!
The old episode with Chris Jones is still my favorite on the channel. Love to see the man back.
A super nice game - another wonderful production. Sad that Makari after the FAQ no longer keeps the 2+ invuln when he has failed it for the first time.
Suspiciously Lucky: This model has a 2+ invulnerable save. If an invulnerable save made for this model is failed, this ability has no effect for the rest of the battle.
Ugh, I hate that change. Let him keep his lucky 2+ invuln!
@@robertcapestany6019 I don't know why would they even do that. He's a grot, how many time can he even fail his save?
Was this match recorded before or after the FAQ change?
@@xenoblad I'm not sure what they mean about "after the FAQ", that's the rule as written in the book, the FAQ doesn't change (or even mention) the Suspiciously Lucky rule.
@@KingBobbito oh so the son accidentally cheated? Cuz he kept using the 2 up invul save after having Makari fail one invul save.
What a fantastic game in so many levels i hope both return for more battlereports
That young man seems so happy, level headed, and well mannered. Kudos to his dad and this was awesome to watch!
Saw this episode early and folks, you do NOT want to miss it! It’s one for the books 📚
I’ll drink to that! 🍻
Currently am and - could not agree more, was a wonderful watch late as I am
Worthy of the Black Library.
Thanks, gentlemen, for bringing a family oriented match to video. This is an awesome video just because of the premise behind it! Also, because you guys do such a great job on filming and editing.
In a few years, I want Nick vs one or both of his boys (with the marines their dad won for them).
"I don't want this bullet, here, you have it" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
One of the best episodes you guys have done in a while, what a great game! I hope to have sons to do this with someday!
Dayum... James is raised well and he is such a funny dude allready. "Some of you may die..." and "Here, take it"
Also no one says it... but both armies are green.
Also I can't wait for "Wife and Husband Warhammer 40k!" as the next episode.
I wish my dad and I played these games together. This was amazing to watch, I hope you keep playing together!
I was practically yelling at my screen that termies were 3 wounds the entire game, playing termies with 2 wounds was a real player in this game.
@Monarch Miniatures that’s what you get for being heretics.
He propably sticked to the lore and played them as chaos
@@joshuagraham5422 are Dark Angels terminators chaos-affiliated? Was this a Fallen Angels force?
@@jamescox4638 it's a dead dark angels meme 😊
I love these two and the energy they bring. This was such a fun battle report to watch and having on new people really helps you appreciate the normal cast a bit more and how much better they've gotten by playing on camera. You could see it in real time with these two that by having the cameras and crew there helps you pay better attention to your plays. You can tell by how many times these guys forgot something and caught it later cause they weren't as used to playing on camera and where thinking about it. Really makes you appreciate Tak Tycho and the gang all getting better because of the show. Absolutely loving these lately guys and I can't wait to see what else you come up with.
It always makes me happy to see father’s getting their sons and sometimes daughters into the hobby. If I ever become a dad, I’m going to be that dad
Great job, everyone. Special props to James for braving the cameras. Must be intimidating, but you did great!
Just come across this episode and it's already my favourite. I love the rapport between father and son here - it's both how I wish my dad was with me but mostly I'm heartened to aspire to this being how I would be with my children. Genuine fun, respect, and love between these two - Chris has done a superb job and I can't wait to see more of James who is already a terrific human.
Wait so you're telling me there's two James Jones and they both play Orks? AMAZING
What an absolute blast to watch! What a Waaagh! Proppa krumpin proppa dakka! Makari at the end! So many great moments!
Awesome content - and when they hug in the middle, as a Dad to two young kids that was amazing and something to strive for with my two.
Thanks for the amazing content!
I for some reason really enjoy the fact that I'm watching a Father and his Son
Man, this battle was awesome to watch.
Made me cry a couple times.
That's one lucky dad, and a lucky kid.
Awesome!! Reminds me of when I played on the kitchen table with my Father...now Im doing the same with my son's!! Great stuff guys!!
One of the best games I’ve seen you guys post.father and son stuff got me in the feels. Great game to watch.
That was an epic finale!!!! Well done boys
This is officially my favorite battle report ever. Thank you, Play On you guys are the best, and as a dad of a child growing up with an ork army, I look forward to that day when he tables me.
It brought a tear to my eye to see him having fun with his dad. Hearing how proud he was of his son beating him was great. I really liked this episode.
Man love to see a dad loving his kid!!!
As a father myself who has a four year old already showing interest in daddy's Necrons and got my wife into playing Blood Angels, this episode warmed my heart greatly. Well played to both of them.
gorgeously painted Dark Angels army, and the Son of Orks has very Orky potential
This one was specially beautiful to watch. I hope to be able to recreate something similar in the future with my own child (I will also be playing my own Dark Angels!).
I am just starting into Warhammer 40K and I have to say this video almost had me in tears with how close the two are. I have 2 young boys and I am hoping as I learn this game as they grow they will also so we can do things like this together. Amazing match and great respect for you both.
This is a great idea for a series! The next generation of generals!
I love how you guys go the extra lengths to maintain lore faithfulness by USUN PROPA ORK WORDS
Great match guys
As a dad myself with an 11 year old getting into the hobby I loved this
Dude! PLEASE do more of these! This was so heartwarming to watch!
This was a wonderful episode! Love the pair of them so much. Seeing a dad and his son playing something as fun as Warhammer together makes me wish I had kids.
18:50 is so heartwarming it made me tear up!
I do so hope my kids will want to play with me when they get to the age of 6.
this match was awesome.
James was hilarious to watch play his line about Ork psycology was great.
I loved the heartfelt speech at the beginning. Made me really want to watch.
1:50
"My dad has been playing since prehistoric times."
Him: "YOU DARE INSULT ME BOY!?"
This was just so cool to see. Father and son, at war on the tabletop. Awesome.
That dice box makes it so much better to watch.
In the grim darkness of the far future there is only… wholesome tabletop.
This is the most wholesome game of 40k I've ever watched.
You can see it in the father's eyes... He loves to play to win but so happy and proud to lose.
That was a great game, with great players, great armies, and a great board. Wonderful watch.
This one was a special one to make. Glad you enjoyed it
I almost cried at the end, it is in good hands!!! 🥲👊🏻💥❤️
This really proves that, while I am in constant awe of the editing, commentating and production value, what really makes or breaks a battle report for me is the folks playing.
I couldn't take my eyes off the vid once it started, because these two seem to have so much fun doing this!
Hope to see them on the channel again sometime.
This was a great match, and I love how it ended (also the ork psychology “I don’t like this bullet, here you have it” cracked me up)
I love the armies we see on this channel! Also dad saying “I can’t even with you“ made my day
I really can't even with him some days LOL
Play On you guys never dissapoint. The BEST production quality. JT always killing it with the commentary. Props to this wonderful father and his son. What a great game to watch!
Fantastic game. Thank you playon!
So wholesome to watch, I hope to do stuff like this with my kids when they're older. More of this, please!
James is such a treasure XD He seemed a bit uncomfortable at first but when mans found his groove it was a party all day. That was a great game to watch and a great vibe between father and son, well done all around o7
I think this one was the best battle report you guys have done to the day. Amazing game and amazing opponents
Damn get these two back for another game! Fun and funny as hell
As a dad of a one year old, this episode warms my heart!
That was a great game! I love seeing something different, and a family battle was so good.
The banter between these two is just wonderfull!
Definitely one of my favorite you’ve done. This one was great
Well painted armies and ace video work as always.
Love the old school 2nd Edition era gretchin.
We painted 96 in total. NO MORE!
@@chrisjones8577 - it was worth it, but I totally get that it is not a labour of love you would want to repeat.
He is so right with his comment at the end, you can play 40k with your young kids and make the rules so everything is a 3 up and then add more complexity as they grow odler.
Best episode on the whole channel, what a heart warmer that was
30:36 does nick just always know when an explosion happens? Does he just teleport there? 😂
Wish I had this connection with my dad. Excellent and wholesome game.
The hug at the end (wipes tear helmet from eye lens)
They were so cute to watch together and that hug in the middle and the end just really got me. Hope they come on again!
And I just thought, they could bring Chris Jones back...
And you delivered, nice!!!
I've been dying to get back on their tables for a game! 🤣
Fantastic battle, great attempted comeback by Chris.
*But something to note about Makari!*
As of the latest ork codex, *Suspiciously Lucky* (makari's 2++) is removed upon first fail, meaning that you technically have to go roll by roll until the first fail, at which point all following saves are made on his normal 6+ save. This game was even closer than you thought!
This was epic, I want to play like this with my son! Thanks for a great show Chris, James, and Play On, this was so good!
Would love to see the father and son duo again, they were fantastic!
Absolutely love your battle reports the energy and effort that go into them is off the scale. This however was probably the most wholesome battle report I have ever seen. Can't wait for the next one.
