I love mine! One of my favorite fish! Mine has so much personality and builds caves in the sand constantly. He gets mad when I cover up the hole accidentally when vacuuming the sandbed. great video.
Very pretty fish. My new one turned the sandbed from brown nasty gunk to gleaming white within 24 hours. He does make a bit of a mess with the sand at time but nothing too terrible. Much better than having to aerate your sandbed manually.
I just got one of these for my 55 gallon reef tank. He is small, but I saw a larger one at my LFS. The larger was $30, mine is small and was only $12 at petco. Listed as Orange Spotted there… so cute.
See my petco had mine listed as a orange spotted shrimp goby & it was dang near the size of a baby & had a separate listing for the diamond goby & they look identical
Love your video. Very well done. I had a yellow watchman for over 7 years. I just got a diamond which I just finished quarantining today. He's already sifting. Hope I don't wake up to a mess tomorrow. Lol. Keep the view coming. I've subbed.
Your are right you have to watch your DSB life if you have sand bed cleaners, seastars, gobies etc. In the 75 gallon with my four to five inch sand beds I dont like the goby in there, but in the 55 gallon here which is not really a true deep sand bed for its about 2 maybe 3in deep and we clean that sandbed the gody has done great in there for years. We love him and dont want to hurt him. If you want to do the DSB you are right must keep life in it-lots of it, the goby might eat ones life=)
awsome goby. if anyone is considering getting one should make sure their tank is covered because they will jump out. also for smaller tanks they need to be fed beause they will starve only having the sand.
Thanks also for the great comment for one needs to always remember not all fish work in everyone's system. Still I hope you enjoyed the video on the DW Goby. PS my personal thoughts on the Deep Sand Beds are really leaning/changing to having them in the sump on the next setup and not in the main display....we need to create our dream tank soon I hope=)
Great video! I do like my sleeper Gold Head Goby. However, he makes fast work of creating piles and getting under the rocks. I "fix" the sand... he moves the sand again like a small bucket loader. lol.
I have always read and heard that a sand sifting diamond goby will kill a DSB because they prey on the microfauna and will disturb the bed's anaerobic bacteria which is the main purpose of the nitrate removing bacteria. Can you elaborate on this please, do you still have this tank setup? I am considering getting one for my 65 gallon 3.5 inch sandbed, and would like to gather all the facts and all the help i can. Thanks and beautiful fish.
Michael Holmgaard my scooter blenny and goby have been in the same tank for two year with no problems, not sure how the goby would do with a larger blenny though
i have 2 they seem to stick together i dont know what type they are they was just label as gobies one brown stripes and the other black stripes any idire what ones they are ??
Any reason he's not paired with a pistol shrimp? I would think doing so would give him a burrow under a rock to live in and not make him quite so paranoid to dig quite as much.
Thanks its a good idea you have, it is burrowed under the rocks and loves it little hole under them, it sure is a wonder fish to watch and enjoy and our sand bed looks awesome with him in there
Can they get stuck inside the sand bed. I had 3 gobies and they all disappeared. I thought they all jumped out and committed suicide, but never saw any dead fishes lying around. 🙁
I love diamond gobies! I miss having one, but I have too many chalices on the bottom of my tank and I don't want those million dollar rare chalices getting covered in sand!
ReefDVMs yeah he didn't make it. Im not sure what happened. I tested my water and had a pet shop do the same. Everything came back good. The only thing different is I started giving him sinking pellets ( I want be using that brand again). Anyways thanks for the video

OMG, finally i get to find out the name of this fish after about a few years! my local chinese buffet has an aquarium with this fish. thanks so much!

I have one that's about 2.5 years old now, 3-4", he's an awesome little guy!

Mine only stays in one corner of the tank. :( That area of substrate is spotless!
Great video! Will this goby be good with a Blenny? I don't know if they will outcompete each other for food :/ Thanks in advance :)
Michael Holmgaard my scooter blenny and goby have been in the same tank for two year with no problems, not sure how the goby would do with a larger blenny though
Very cool. Can you have a pair of them in one tank?
SantaMonicaHelp Assistant yes but they need a lot of sand for two
ReefDVMs Very cool. We got one at the office. Do you know if they would interact much with each other?
Nice, I really like mine too. LFS?
Does he scope up sand, swim up to the top of the water column and just release it right in front of the powerhead like the goldhead sleepers do?
Does he cloudy up the tank ?
will these fish eat food particles and other things in the sand bed? Also if i use life sand will they eat anything beneficial in that?
Railway sleeper goby is awesome to
what type of sand is in your tank? I am getting a goby and yours looks quite happy with the sand you have. :)
Great comment thanks

My aquarium has an SG of 30 would this be ok for him?
I love mine to they are a grate little fish to have in a reef tank
Any reason he's not paired with a pistol shrimp? I would think doing so would give him a burrow under a rock to live in and not make him quite so paranoid to dig quite as much.

I just got mine yesterday but I haven’t been able to see him sift sand yet :( he’s still really shy
Yea that’s how they are, but once they feel comfortable he will be out sifting a lot
Do they jump? Just worried because i removed my lid. I’ve heard that yellow watchman goby jump i wonder if diamond does the same
My huge diamond goby jumped out of my tank, my son found him dead on the floor. Get a top.
Can they get stuck inside the sand bed. I had 3 gobies and they all disappeared. I thought they all jumped out and committed suicide, but never saw any dead fishes lying around. 🙁
Ryan Bondoc they tend to stay on the surface, when they dig burrows they still stay on top of the sand bed...
Best info 👍🏼🌸
People get these & orange spotted shrimp goby mixed up alot& im one of those people
Love my Goby!!!
i lost mine because we didn’t have enough sand in the tank
Thanks for the video!
Will it be territorial to jawfish?
not sure?
I love diamond gobies! I miss having one, but I have too many chalices on the bottom of my tank and I don't want those million dollar rare chalices getting covered in sand!
have you every notice your diamond stop sifting for a day or two
yes i have and once it was not good=(
ReefDVMs yeah he didn't make it. Im not sure what happened. I tested my water and had a pet shop do the same. Everything came back good. The only thing different is I started giving him sinking pellets ( I want be using that brand again). Anyways thanks for the video
your welcome sorry to hear the loss but similar happened to u also
They can't go with pistol shrimp
Try to get them in a pair or they will jump non stop potentially forever
