For all of these shots the usual choice is an overstable driver. I am no expert on tomahawks and thumbers as I almost never throw these shots. With that said: For me personally I always use an overstable fast driver for spike hyzers. For a grenade I use an overstable disc when I want it to go as straight as possible. When I want a grenade to move a bit to the left in the air (I'm right handed) I go with a neutral midrange or putter. My best advice however would be to try out the different shots with different discs and see what works for you. / Johannes bit.ly/47CrPnG
With a grenade, if you use the grip that Kevin Jones uses it hurts way less. It feels really weird but it works. What you do is you put the disc between your index finger and your middle finger and then with your thumb you pinch your index finger against the inside of the rim of the disc. Scott Stokely has a tutorial on how to use this grip on his channel.
Yes, this is the way to do it. You get the grip on the rim from the index finger but the strength from the thumb. Could be an idea for a short video demonstrating the alternative grip Johannes & co.
Thank you Jonathan and Johannes for all the work and time you put in entertaining us and growing the sport with your light-hearted spirits. Much appreciated and much love.
And to add to already all things important said: Realizing there are none-pro players trying to improve their game/understanding and explaining it "us".
Another disc golf video that ended up making me laugh out loud multiple times. That's why Jonathan and Johannes stay my favorites! Comedy, Editing, Golfing. All 5 outa 5 boards!!
Are we getting to the point to where tutorials slow down and we get more course vlogs?! :D Also, can we to a video on the disc design process with Tomas? I want to get super nerdy with it.
Hmm I don´t know. If we can make them interesting enough. But we still have plenty of how to videos we wanna make :). Yes there will be in the future for sure. /Jonathan
@@Latitude64 I'd be keen on a video like this similar to Simon's Tilt but more techy. Get Thomas to teach Johnathan how to make his own signature disc 😀 Decide on a disc type like neutral fairway driver. Choose the shape and key dimensions. Make a prototype 3d print? Try it out. Make some tweaks. Viewers might invest to make it into production 😀
Jonathan quote; "I don't even like my thumb anyways." Me; busted up laughing. :0 for real though love your guys's videos, I rarely like videos on UA-cam but I've liked everyone you guys at put out. There is a million videos you guys could make that would help any disc golfers out there, I've been playing for years now and I'm constantly updating and improving my game. One video I haven't seen you guys make yet is a forehand video I hurt my elbow not too long ago so I had to relearn forehand throwing. Keep up the high-quality work you guys are doing great that's what sets you apart.
Got Latitude 64 commercial before Im watching this video. I think Johannes and Jonathan has already won me over after watching so many videos and a bag filled with Latitude discs.
These videos get more and more amazing every time you guys upload, thank you for the laughs and the tips ,I'll be playing at shady oaks later ,gunna try some of these
These videos are amazing. I love how you guys are now doing different throws. Like the rollers and now to throw over stuff. I think that you could do a video on how to get a disc to skip properly.
I played my first ever round of disc golf 4 days ago, I loved it! I immediately went home and straight to UA-cam. After finding your channel and binging the disc golf basics playlist, I was able to shave 9 strokes off my game on my second go around today! I absolutely love what Jonathan and everyone else is doing with this channel. Thankyou guys for the amazing content :). -Colton
Guys, you're the BEST! With winter sneaking up on us, maybe do a "what to think about during fall and winter", what to pack and what not.. and how does it affect the discs? Keep it up ❤
I've loved your videos ever since Jonathan was learning how to pronounce "disc golf." You've come a long way and you're such a genuine, likable guy. Love your dry sense of humor. Don't ever change.
I e been disc golfing for about two months, at first I found chasing the discs EVERYWHERE was great exercise. I wanted to throw better so I started watching you guys and I have learned a lot, while being entertained. I have to say, I like your accents very close to my German relatives accents makes me miss them but reminds me of them at the same time.
Thomashawk......hahaha! Love it! Great video, these are shots a lot of people could use to help them lower thier scores with these trouble shooting or scramble game type of shots! 💯👍👀📹🦄⛓️
Normally I wait until I'm told to like the video, but when Jonathan asked "what do you think man, woman, child?" I cracked up and had to smash that like button
Nice job again! And yeah! You have to try these... and find out what works and what definitely does not! My shoulders are in pain even at watching these ;)
yet another throw to practice during field work! great work guys. i would like to see you guys discussing about the metal game of disc golf next if possible!
I play a lot of woods golf, and I use tomahawks/thumbers more than the others. I don't use them to get over trees though; putting that much height under them is uncomfortable. i use them for hitting higher gaps while scrambling, or tracing specific flight paths. If I'm going over something very high I'll probably go with a spike hyzer or grenade. Sometimes I find myself in a fortress of bushes and the only way back to the fairway is a small gap 15' or 20' above me. Tomahawks are perfect for that situation.
forehand spike hyzers are a thing you can do. As a forearm only player, it feels much more natural than a tomahawk. Feels like a golf swing, you lean forward a bit and throw to your lead shoulder with a super late release. Doesn't work when you're right up next to some tall trees but it gives you good height with some decent distance. If you have enough space you can turn it into a hyzer flip with the right disc and angle.
No, thank you guys! I'm ordering my first starter disc set this week! I just wanna give both of you a big hug. Your videos always make me feel sooooo good.
I finally got myself latitude 64 plastic! Loving the discs so far guys! Also ordered the luxury e4 bag. Can't wait to get out on the course! Keep great content and products coming guys. Cheers!
I love these videos. You guys really have great personality and the format is extremely informative and easy to follow. Thank you for providing such great content.
There is a pain free grip for the Grenade! It looks funny but I think it feels fine. Scott Stokely teaches it and probably a lot more people so it shouldn't be hard to find.
Not only does it feel good, you gain much more power. I love using the Tilt for Grenades. If you through the Tilt for a grenade, you can use a horizontal throw and it will quickly turn vertical and go 250". I like how it stops right where it lands.
Future Video Idea.....Best disc selection for throwing on extreme downhill and Uphill.... I have heard throwing putters on 500ft down hills is better than a driver. Love you guys!
Love all of your videos (that I've seen), you guys do such a great job of covering a variety of skills and explaining them clearly. My mother recently got into the sport and your videos are some of her favourites for exactly those reasons. The experiment worked, I can't imagine Jonathan working for another disc golf company :D
Thank you for all these videos. I love what you have done and yours is the first channel I recommend to new golfers and you all have switched half of my bag to Latitude 64. I now bag Pure, Fuse, River, Explorers and Saints in multiple plastics. Once your royal line is easier to find I am really looking forward to the Trust and Grace! As far as video ideas I would like to see, I don't think you all have covered patent pending and step out forehands as afar as shots and I would like to see some tips on shots and putts with elevation changes. I'm a baseball player so tomahawk works great for me, even when throwing low shots hard and far. I've tried spike Hizer but nearly threw my back out, I'm 54.

Great vid. I love grenades! 🧨 protip: put your index finger inside the disc instead and then lock it in place with your thumb! It is very smooth AND doesnt hurt as much!👍
I've recorded myself disc golfing for an English language video I made, and I can throw 300ft or so in nearly a straight line using the hyzer flip. But I noticed my left arm is all floppy like a noodle when I throw. I think it should do something while righty does all the work. Maybe make a video about what your off hand is supposed to do when you throw backhand shots? Just a suggestion. Love you guys!
