  • What was originally planned to be a short visit to Korea has now turned into 3 years. It's ironic as I came from Thailand which was also originally supposed to have been a short visit that lasted for 7 years. Life is full of unexpected twists and turns but nothing is really forcing me to stay in Korea... or is there a reason I can't leave? In this video I give you an update on what I've been doing here the last year, why I haven't posted as many videos on my channel, what Goryo Chungja in Gangjin is about, and what Korean Jung has to do with all of this

Enjoyed your vlog Ethan. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Korea. Always nice to have a place you want to get back to, no matter where you are. Spirit of jung.

It's true, I have been here for 15 years and I have never heard any expats, immigrants, even online forums and social, say that they feel like foreigners in Korea. Korea is very welcoming and loving. Everybody is treated like family. Because everyone in Korea believes everyone must work together. They call it "we" or "us" culture ("woori" or "oori" spirit/culture). Awesome video as always, thx so much!!! Keep 'em coming!

I'm glad you returned because I grew attached to this city too. I don't necessarily need the busy city.

Yeah there’s something about this city. I mean I wanna keep working and taking on lots of projects for now but maybe in my older years I’d wanna live in a place like this

I would love to retire here. Hopefully Korea changes there retirement visa options to make it easier and less expensive to settle down in this beautiful country.

It could be virtually free if you’re younger since you just gotta work for about 3 years but yes no retirement visas

@@livetravelasia Wait really? You just have to work in Korea for 3 years and then you can stay? I need to look more into this. Im sure there is some testing involved to see your korean language proficiency and stuff like that, but that would be no issue.

Ethan do you have an International driver's license? Did you buy or rent your motorbike? I see one guy bought a brand new 2022 Honda Beat for only $1200 at the Honda dealer in the Philippines. I'm thinking it would be a lot cheaper to drive myself to work in Cambodia each day, rather than hiring a tuk tuk each way for $5 to $7.50 at the school.

Yeah I own all my scooters and I save a lot of money. I bought a used one here for 1400 but it’s cheaper in Thailand cause Honda manufactures these in Thailand. Prob the same for Cambodia
