You're right! Peabo actually wrote all the songs on his first 4 albums and probably combined, 75% of the songs on his follow up albums until he started doing the duets. At some point it seems like the music label execs suggested he start singing other songwriter songs which did present him to bigger audiences (Pop listeners). I suppose, in his case, this worked out nicely. He is only one of a few singers that crossed over with ease. I personally prefer the songs he wrote/song from his earlier years. They're more Soulful. They're Peabo!
@@my_handle1999 Peabo can sing anything, but as far as I know, he never sings songs from this record in concert. He should add 'Just Another Day' for the homies tho.
This is a classic!.....this is the debute of Pebo Bryson.....the very album that put him on the music map! Congratulations to him & his long success!!!
There is something so chilly about this song. It brings back memories of walking through South Philly streets, at night, in the Fall so much in love....
I FOUND THE SONG I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR YEARS. MY OLDER BROTHER TURNED ME ON TO THIS SONG AND ARTIST!!! THANK YOU DARRYL GLENN ROGERS FOR EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE FOR ME YOUR BROTHER KEVIN MAURICE ROGERS........
My favorite Peabo record. This man is so fantastic. So Happy to post Peabo Bryson on Soul Sound Fusion. Classic. Kim Boutte'- The DJ Duchess of New Orleans.
If you have the album you'll notice on the back cover Peabo is being hugged by a beautiful woman.... That woman is the late Tamara Dobson... Lead Actress in the Cleopatra Jones movies of the 70s.
Over the years, I have forgotten the names of many songs, but this is one song that I never forgot no matter how many years ago it was! This song made such an impression on me that I never forgot it! Thanks for this post!!! Glad I was there in the beginning of all this great music!!!
I've loved Peabo since before Feel the Fire. I heard this one day on the radio and I've been hooked on him since. Many thought this was the Spinners or some other artist but I remember the DJ of WOWI in Tidewater, VA saying the name of the artist. I remembered the name and laughed because it was funny. Who had ever heard of Peabo!
Okay, why is this song now my favorite Peabo song and this album my favorite Peabo album? I just heard this tonight for the first time EVER...I'm SOLD!
1978 I was 3 years old., I remember my dad sending my brother to the record shop to get this album. Dad played it while we got ready for my oldest brother's funeral. Crazy what music can make you remember.
Nice story but tragic. I hate you lost your brother. Sound like you were young. Too young to have to process the loss of a sibling. I lost a sister at 55 and I thought it was gonna take me out. I cant imagine what you experienced as a young-un. Its def a different kind of pain than when you lose a parent. I hope this message finds you in a better place 💙
Thank you, Youngblood of KISS 104 in ATL (Saturdays 7-12 ET for great oldies and even better old school entertainment) for introducing me to this beautiful song many years ago, probably 20. I was so glad to finally find it on UA-cam some years back. I can’t believe I’m just thinking to make a comment.😳😳😳Peabo has made many beautiful songs, but there is something magical about this one. I absolutely love it.😊❤️❤️❤️
Wow this is one powerful song. Brings back so many great memories for me. I've always said this was his best song ever, hands down. I was engaged to a beautiful sister by the name of Anita Jemison and this was our Song. So many memories and this song just breaks my ❤ heart each time I hear it. Today especially because I just found out my Anita passed away last month. We never married but stayed friends since day one. Tearing me to pieces right now that I will never hear her voice, laughter, smile and silly things she would do to make me 😃 smile. She will always be in my ❤ heart and I will always 💘 Love her. Missing you Anita, hugs and kisses until we meet in another deminsion of life as we know it. Rest In Paradise. Peace and 💘 Love.
@2441883 I glad that I wasn't the only one that assumed that this was Phillippe Wynne. I was in my first year of high school when this hit the airways. I've love it ever since.
This was Peabo's very first hit. It was on a small label and was on Billboard's Hot 100 Soul Singles charts for weeks before Black Radio Stations picked on it. I recall Dennis W. Morgan on his "Black Experience In Sound" FM Radio Show playing it in the Northeast and soon afterwards other stations picked up on it. He played several songs from that album - All beautiful songs and I went out the next day and bought the album. I'm smiling at that album cover, as it's back when Peabo had hair.
THIS WAS THE FIRST SONG I HEARD BY PEOBO BRYSON. HAVE NOT HEARD IT SINCE 1976. SOUNDS A LOT LIKE "HOW COULD I LET YOU GET AWAY" BY THE SPINNERS." SAME BEAT, SAME TEMPO.
SO true! When this was released, I was working in a record shop. People were coming in asking for the new Spinners cut. That was such a wonderful time in my life. Amazing memories, good music.
"This is from his 1st album". His music and vocals were very tight. Quiet Storm played him everynight in Washington, DC., I remember because I was listening to Quiet Storm every night and still do!!!!!
Wow!! I was little. I would never remember this album but since it was played over and over and over and over from sun up to sun down I can't help to remember his first album named Peabo
I saw Peabo Last Oct at the Rehoboth Beach Jazz festival with Gerald Albright. He still on top of his game. He should Redo this album, introduce these songs yo new generation. nothing but a win win. I betcha
This sounds like the Spinners. I was never crazy about the Spinners. It makes sense that if they were popular in 76, a young Peabo wouldn't mind adapting their sound.
"Just Another Day" was on Peabo's self titled first album. I get choked up when I hear this song but I always thought it sounded familiar and one day I realized it reminded me of "How Could I Let You Get Away" by the Spinners lead by Phillippe Wynne. Peabo even threw in the "Well, Well" which is definitely a trademark of Phillippe Wynne, LOL. Hey, I'm not hating on Peabo, I figured he idolized the Spinners & Phillippe and decided to write and arrange his song like their song. Nevertheless, it's one of Peabo's best songs. 🤩
I’ve fallen in love with this song!! I sang with Peabo two weeks ago and this was one of the songs in his show. Love his vocal evolution throughout the years!
@@carmarbar3Wow, really?! That's great. Besides t"Just Another day" did he sing "Underground Music" and/or "I Want To Know"? These are my 3 favorite songs by him but Underground Music was on his first album so it's a little dated, LOL. I see Mr. Bryson is about to have a birthday next week too 🥳
@@my_handle1999 Yes, really! From his first album, “Just Another Day” is the only one. We sang “Reaching For The Sky”, “Crosswinds”, “Feel The Fire”, “Tonight, I Celebrate My Love” (my duet with him 🥰), “All She Wants To Do Is Me” (a newer song) and more hits, as well as, a couple of tribute songs to fellow great artists that he honored.
Peabo's vocals and the instrumentation is very reminiscent of The Spinners song How Could I Let You Get Away, led by the late great Phillipe Wynne. Take a listen to that song and you'll see. This song was out in 1976...How Could I Let You Get Away was released in 1972.
hey ztruth4u how you doing, what a great station in Tidewater WOWI just moved back to Va. Beach after many years in California. Hit me back and lets talk.
"Peabo" is actually the best album he ever recorded. He wrote all the songs. Only real Peabo fans are hip to this though
I was bout 6 yrs old when my daddy bought this album and we had just moved in our 2nd new house
Just Another Day and God Is On Your Side are my gems 💕
True that !!!!!!!!

The most prolific balladiers in R&B history and a great Gentleman!
This cut is the JAM....couldn't remember that Peabo made this...been looking for this song forever!!!! Smiles in my spirit.......This is my BOY!!!!!!
Hey Alicia, like you I love this jam, brings back so many good memories. Her name was Anita.
This man sounds exactly like Philippe Wynn lead singer of the Spinners!!!!! Uncanny!!!! Still listening October 29 2022 in the ATL.
I will FOREVER love this song
Nobody could sing and move emotions, like Peabo. His legacy still true to beautiful love music
He has a remarkable voice. ❤️

Listen closely, and you can hear Luther Vandross and Cissy Houston in the background. Real music. Love Peabo!
I hear Luther, Cissy's voice imo, isn't distinctive enough to pick her out of a bunch. I know she's there tho.
..."I hear you Luther"!!
Awesome memories❣️thank you Peabo❤️

this song went to #27 on the R&B charts in 1977!!!
This beautiful song demonstrated that Peabo Bryson was a powerful and serious singer and producer of future hits.
Just Another Day that makes you stop and pay attention because it takes you to that place...Another Place and Time.....Peace and Love

Song is very similar to How Could I Let You Get Away and Peabo sounds a lot like Phillipe Wynne. This was released in 1977
The part from 2:57 up until the song ends, can bring tears to ones eyes.

I've been searching for this song for a while. Peabo Bryson said this is a young Luther Vandross singing with him during his backup vocal days.

Great Song 👌
That is a beautiful, BAAD, voice add-on at 3:10, and 3:11. It can be heard again at 3:20, and at 3:29, if you listen closely.-Beautiful

Yes I hear both - Luther very clearly☺️
Oh Yes!
This tune is an epidemic
Nice
I hear Luther up in there .
well I'm leaving it all up to you do what you got to do hey girl
Does anyone know where I can find this album/cd if was ever on a cd ?
Nope, nope, nope; not just you! I felt the same way. Perhaps the songwriter was doing double duty; worth an inquiry!
Thom Bell was and is a beast songwriter.
Linda Creed and Thom Bell wrote How Could I Let You Get Away. Peabo himself wrote Just Another Day.
just another day by peobo and how could i let you get away by the spinners.had to be written by the same person.
Totally agree
That's interestin, they are two great songs.
No. How Could I Let You Get Away was written by Linda Creed and Thom Bell. Just Another Day was written by Peabo Bryson.
