Been a fan for 35yrs now...it never dies just gets better...sad I've only seen them live one time...Portland,Oregon LALUNA
I lost my mind that night...great show..
This is what life sounds like. We don't make these sounds on the radio or television but this is life and it's beautiful.
Thats a great point
One of the most underrated albums of the decade.
One of my favorites by them, no doubt.
7 ads in 20 minutes .. time to pull out the cd.
Masterpiece..
I can't believe some people thought this was slightly weaker than usual. If that's the case then they are the best goddamn band to have graced this planet! Cos this is perfect. It has slightly more optimistic and melodic moments than most of their others, but still with the Neurosis intensity. Noah Landis' role is highlighted on this even more so, really adds an intriguing element to the band.
This was my first Neurosis album and started a long love of this band
This album is the perfect Neurosis album. And it's absolutely a "grower," just like all their other albums. It's a shame people listen to an album once or twice and then pass final judgement. Albums like this need time to fully absorb.
So true.
so true!
This album is a masterpiece, composed by one of the best bands ever! All said!
Listened to this like 3 months in a row. Still room for progress in understanding.
For me, it's the same story like with Cult Of Luna. Their music grows on you, it was never about any soppy ballads, 3 minute long radio "hits", flashy guitar solos, pub sing-a-longs... you listen to it from A to Z or not at all.
Definitely more of the optimistic post-rock influence in this. Definitely some Godspeed. My Heart for Deliverance is one of their best songs I think.
i simply love this album
Casting of the ages!!! And all the rest !!!
It's awesome how they put Nordic symbology on a lot of their albums. Here the arrows make a Mannaz rune, and the Irminsul is on the cover of Sovereign. Neurosis never disappoints musically.
this one is a sneaky one. it's secretly really good and you either get the vibe or you don't
A sun that never sets is still #1 after hearing this. I haven't really heard neurosis for about a decade. Now i remember why i liked them.
The music is so epic, I tremble before their presence..
First time critically listening to this.
masterpice
This one blows them all out of the water on its own level

When I first heard SHRINEBUILDER I became an immediate Scott Kelly fan
Guest vocals for several Mastodon songs as well!
24:15 is just absolute magic
An unpopular opinion but it's my favorite album of them
You are not alone, I think this is the most complete album sounds wise, it has light, it has darkness, dissonance and melody, pain and shimmering of hope, they meshed together into transcendental whole. But none of it feels polarized or fragmented, it just feels like a marriage of these polar elements into one otherworldly force. This album, saying this at the risk of sounding spiritual, really feels like the universe reaching into our beings.
@@Macxermillio Exactly. I think for most of the listeners this album is too slow and mellow but as a huge fan of doom metal and atmospheric stuff this one really touches me
This and Sovereign for me. By far their best work in my opinion, took me a while to warm up to both, but they're incredible.
spurqz i think that is what is happening too. That is was very perceptive of you, it has always boggled me a bit but it makes sense now that you point that out.
It just wasn't in the vicinity of what people expect from the band while still being Neurosis-like in form and moments here and there. A plodding juggernaut of a masterpiece though.
bouncingczechs A lot of people forget Sovereign in these discussions, good pick.
Excellent!!!
14 thumbs down are from the people looking for "Neutron Dance" by the Pointer Sisters...
That's also good!
Likes. Remember those
Génial :)
