Sex and gender are one and the same, and we've known this for a long time now. It's the very reason the roles we're expected to play based on our biological sex are called "gender roles" to begin with. And when people say that gender refers to the social and cultural differences between males and females, they're really just confusing gender itself with gender roles and norms.
As for your definition of "gender: how you feel about your gender", this is also incoherent, as none of us have a basis for that comparison. We've each only been just the one gender, so we'd have no way of knowing the difference between "feeling like" a man vs. "feeling like" a woman, or indeed if such a difference exists at all.
This is exactly why it is important to establish the definitions we're using in this class. There are many folks who disagree with the definitions I am using. I'm confident in the biological accuracy of the definitions I've chosen and am really glad to take the time to ensure clear communication by stating them up front.
@@wendy-riggs Did you read the comment? I'm pointing out that the definitions offered to try and make "sex" and "gender" different things don't work.
Sex is not assigned at birth, it’s been observed by doctors
Everything is not on a spectrum.
