The way he smiled and had glowing eyes while the army was kneeling was a great callback to the beginning with the god statue. Remember it smiled and had glowing eyes too when everyone was "worshipping" it.

The bonuses were because he actually defeated everyone and exceeded beating the challenge, when all the challenge was is to “survive as long as he can”. He would have been rated and classed according to how long he lasted.

Great catch about the chairman's dialogue & great interpretation of the ending. It's one that won't fully make sense until further in the story when more of the world is explained. Knowing what I know, as I have read the light novel, I find the ending brilliant and a great window into what's happening to Jin-Woo.

Yep not only did he get a hidden secret job he also unlocked the higher (Green Tier) upper version of the job (Shadow Monarch) since he not only survived a long time but killed all the guys he was just supposed to last as long as he could from.

Anime didn't show it clearly, but he actually used the bandage to tie his hand with the Knight Killer weapon so that it doesn't get knocked out of his hands like the Teleport Stone.

People are often confused about the meaning of the title "Solo Leveling". It doesn[t mean that he always fights alone. It means that he always LEVELS alone, because he is the only hunter with the ABILITY to level up his powers through combat. The most accurate translation of the title I have found is "Only I Level Up" which while not sounding nearly as cool, does give a much better explanation of the central theme of the story.

I remember when I was reading the manhwa and got to the Igris fight ... that was too much to ask of me to wait for one more week.

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but to add context why the ants evolving is so terrifying. The one thing protecting humans from the ants is a massive natural barrier known as the ocean. They are now evolving to fly. That barrier is no longer going to protect them. The ants that were stuck on the defensive because they couldn't cross the sea are now able to go on the offensive.
This also could mean the ants are going to be even stronger as well.
The prolouge is over, this is where Solo Leveling really starts!
S2 is where the real story begins, also Sung Jin Woo will glow up even more 😁
I know this comment is late, and someone else has probably commented this already, but you two should listen to the dub for this. The VA for SJW, Aleks Le, did a great job as Sung and put passion into his performance.
Necromancers are not undead. Only their minions are undead. Typically the only thing that makes necromancers look dark is their equipment. Nothing about their body looks undead most of the time.
But apparently he is an assassin build, but he doesnt look like a typical assassin either. (Idk why they say he is an assassin build. He is mostly strength. His only skill that is assassin is invisibility but he got that late into his build and didnt choose it.)
