- Happy Saturday, Artists! I'm doing a bit of show and tell of what's in the pencil case I use for sketching and travel: My favorite colored pencils to sketch with (yes, you read that right), charcoal, and graphite to sketch with! You'll see some familiar pencils from Faber Castell, Prismacolor, Derwent, and more! My pencil case is loaded with goodies because I can't decide on just a few pencils, so of course it's overflowing!

Pen haul??? Yes!!! 💖
Your drawings are so expressive!
Oh shucks! ☺️Thank you, Lindsay! That means a lot to me 🎨♥️
Oh that is every artist's dream pencil case. Very nice selection.
If you tear out the velcro pencil inserts and just lay them inside unattached you will have more room in the case. Also, random, but i like the koh i noor eraser pencil(white with gold top), they are a softer consistency than the faber castell , but still firm and is easier on your paper. They are super expensive on Amazon but easy to find anywhere else.
Loved going through your pencil case. Since I’ve been so isolated this past year I miss sharing and seeing other people’s supplies in person. This made me feel like I was almost there with you. Thanks for sharing! Your drawings are also very inspiring and your eye makeup is fantastic. 👁 💄 😊
Wow, everyone! I’m so sorry for the shotty editing towards the end! During the end of my editing journey, I got a phone call that lasted 2 hours, and then thought carelessly “yeah, I was pretty much done”. Hit upload, and now watching it, realizing how choppy it was a few times. My apologies, this is why I’m normally going back over things several times before I release it publicly. I’m sick of my own videos even before you even see them 😂 Please forgive me this time!
I didn't think so, but I'm also with you on being sick of myself by the time I'm done editing!
My love is watercolor then colored pencil. Seeing your awesome drawings makes me want to focus on drawing to get really good like you. And it is probably the one thing i can do being in bed all the time. I was thinking about Matt the drawing guy has a website i should join. Tfs
I still have an original set of the coal erase by Eagle eye belief from 1988 when I won first place in my art class. I have not use them I keep them as a special keepsake from the teacher that I want them from. She died a few liters from brain cancer so they’re very special to me.
That’s amazing and I’m sorry to hear that she passed. It’s sweet that you keep them and have a special place in your heart for her and keep her memory alive.
Loved this video! My sketching stuff is all over the place, i should collect them in a case like this 😁. I use and like the Col-erease, the Derwent black and white and Lyra and Conte oily charcoal pencils a lot. I need to check out your Pilot Eno video. I think I'll like those.
Hi! So happy you loved the video! I love Lyra too. They are a fantastic and an interesting brand. Their aqua color crayons are amazing, and I used to have to a set of their pencils and loved them. The oily charcoal was something I just recently found out about and I was like “this is a game changer. How have I not known about this?”
Your art is as beautiful as you! And...your eyes are STUNNING!
Oh shucks! ☺️ thank you!
I can't sketch for crap. I do love coloring in coloring books. You're very entertaining and normal acting. Subbed.
You are so gifted Jane and so so fun!! Thank you for all you do to help us out. I know nothing and am very old for starting this endeavor. Love you❤️👍
Woop woop, bring on the colerase demo. I look at your pencil bag and think yes I must add a little more flavor to my collection.🤣 There is still room for more in my box.
Yes I would be interested in seeing an eye demo. By the way your eye make is gorgeous darling fabulous.
Thank you so much!! 😄😄😄 noted a col-erase demo!
Girl, I had to split up my pencil case because it was just too darn full. So now I have 3 main ones, my everything bag, my inking bag, and then my tombow and colerase bag mainly because the tombow and colerase aren't short enough to fit in my main bag. However, it has a cat on it, that looks like my cat, and it is one of those pop up bags. It is just so cute and fun I had to get them lol. I would love to see your pen haul, see you sketch or draw with anything you want lol. I will watch it. 💖💖💖
Oh I’d love to see that bag! And you just gave me ideas on splitting up things into several cases! 😂 I would love to see a video or photos of your different pencils, pens, etc!
@@ArtistJane I will share a link to them in discord in the morning. 😉 I have 3 with 3 different cats on them and I love them. Maybe I will film a what's in my pencil case soon. Been doing spring cleaning, starting with my art room lol. I can't believe how much stuff I have and forgot I had. Out of out mind is so true.
I have almost the exact same over stuffed pencil case lol 😂 love your videos
1. your eyes are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
2. WORDS ARE HARD
3. you need a bigger pencil container
4. God bless
Words are hard! 😂 and Thank you on #1!! God bless you too!
@@ArtistJane you feeling better?
I like all FABER Castell 9000 pencils. Normal and Jumbo. As well as all Staedtler Mars Lumograph / *Black.
Also the FC soluble graphite pencils. The Conte black drawing pencils as well as the sanguine and sepia color of Conte drawing pencils. I also like the Paper Mate Clear Point colored mechanical pencils a lot. They are really comfortable in the hand. I also like the FC grip mechanical pencils.
Generally I prefer really wood pencils over plastic case pens however the Paper Mate clear point mechanical color pencils can be refilled. You can get them at Staples. We don't have a nice Art Supply store like St. LOUIS.
I also like the Staedtler Water soluble pencils. However they only come in 3 instead of the 5 like the ones from FC.
However anyone does not need to have a large selection. It's better to use what you have instead of collecting and not using them. Art supplies are for using not for looking at. I like using my stuff up till it dies not fit in the pencil extender anymore. Make the most of all your things. Without sounding cheap but my professor was right...you paid for all of it nit just half the pencils. And Art supplies are expensive. You all know that.
Love love love you. And the eye makeup in on point!
You’re so awesome! Thank you so much! 😄 I love eyeshadow just about as much as art supplies!
@@ArtistJane oh yeah I hear that!! Same haha
Love your drawings and you look amazing as always!!
Thank you! 😄
Yes, want to see your new pen haul.
Fantastic! I’m going to get it going!
Your works are awesome
Thank you so much!
Yes please do show your new pencils. Make demos with it please. So we can see how they perform in action.
I LOVE F A B E R C A S T E L L art supplies, especially Polychromos, and the 9000 series graphite pencils. But I have more than a dozen of their products and they are all great. It looks like you need a slightly bigger new pencil case. PLEASE show us more of your artwork, those glimpses of portraits looked amazing!
Thank you, and I will do an updated portfolio video soon!
i am ready for a pen haul! And demo anything my dear! i am, however, interested in a charcoal demo as that is something i have shied away from for many years even though i have some charcoal pencils (some of which are from my high school art classes in the 70s!!!!! --- i keep everything! LOL!)
I have shied away from heavy charcoal use but I do like to do small sized charcoal sketches, so I will do what I can! Maybe I can make some eye sketches in various mediums and demo them.
Pennnnnnns!!! I love pens. I just had to go through a box and toss a bunch of felt-tip pens that had dried out. 😫
If you’re ever in St. Louis, let me know! St Louis Art Supply have all kinds of fountain pens, specialty ink pens, etc and there’s a stationary store down the road from them that I’ve never been in (I’m afraid I might find too many things I like!) 😆 I’m so sorry to hear about your felt tip pens. What kind were they?
@@ArtistJane oh, absolutely! If you get back into soul sketches I 100% want to buy a session when we go! And absolutely would love a trip to buy pens. Mine were just a hella cheap set from Sam's Club. They were scented and I fell for it. 🤣
Always love your videos.. no matter what..
Thank you and I appreciate your support always ♥️
How where can I learn to sketch????
What's your opinion on Staedler colored pencils?
Hi Jane! Lindsay (The Frugal Crafter) recommended your channel, and I'm so glad she did! I admire your attitude regarding the pain you have to deal with, and I hope you have more good days than bad...In this video you mentioned one of the pencils being good for those with arthritis. Do you find colored pencils to be hard on your hands and if so, do you have any tips for that?
Hi Michele!! Thank you for checking my channel and videos out! Gotta love Lindsay - she’s the best! Oh yeah, after a while the hands, neck, and shoulders start to hurt with colored pencils after so long. Some more than others, but I did buy some compression gloves recently on Amazon for support (fashionable, right?!) and I have to take breaks. I’m planning on making a video about this subject so I can recommend what works for me and see what works for others too. Icy hot too!
@@ArtistJane I didn't see your reply until today--thank you, Jane! I look forward to a video on the topic and will check out the gloves.
Amazing drawings. Do you use a fixative?
Yes I do! I usually will use Krylon workable fixative and then Krylon's final fixative when I'm done.
Do the pen haul...do the pen haul....or did u do it already & I missed it? I’m always behind. 🙁
Haha! No I haven’t done the pen haul yet. I filmed it and it ended up being way too long (and boring in my opinion) so I’m going to have to revise and figure out a way to make it shorter and more entertaining.
So I am assuming you like the Blick Studio colored pencils? I purchased a set last year and ended up sending them back. I found them to be very waxy (almost like a crayola crayon) and not very good for blending. I have heard so many rave reviews about them I am starting to wonder if maybe I got a bad batch of them? I had no idea Faber Castell use to own the Col-Erase brand, interesting. I have been wanting to try the Pilot Color Eno pencils, love the way your drawings look with those blue's! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching! 😄 I like the Blick studios if I’m sketching and need an opague, quick layout of color. They are very waxy, so I’m not sure if I’ll be buying a big set but I thought the colors were pretty and just bought a few open stock to try out.
Can you tell me if the pencil case is large enough for tombow markers. ?
hmm...the ones I've shown here aren't going to cut it, but tomboy does make a custom plastic marker case. It's just expensive.
Has anything changed with your favorites since you made this video?
I’ll have to go through them again and give an update!
@@ArtistJane sounds great!
Why you don’t have black wing matte black
I haven’t gotten around to buying it. I like the black wing 602 so far though.
