When I was a kid, my family and our friends got a tour at a mosque in DC. The tour guide was polite and was trying to point out the similarities between Christianity and Islam. My dad asked, "Would you ever call God your Father?" The guide said, "No, never. That would be disrespectful."

They are very different, but some start to wilfully confuse them and say they're the same. Many of these don't really believe in either. I'm a Christian and completely sold on this thesis that we do not worship the same God as Muslims. However, I do have a doubt over one of your points. Wouldn't a fairer comparison with the verse that you mentioned about how those who believe in Allah would not love their fathers, sons, brothers etc if they didn't also love Allah, be Luke 14:26. This is where Jesus says, if anyone comes to be and does not hate their father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters-yes, even their own life-such a person cannot be my disciple.

I just feel there are better corrective measures than eternal torment for disbelievers from a loving God.
My current understanding is that hell was created for the angels that rebelled, not for humanity. However, the freedom consequent of both of our creation (Man and angel) means that we can never be actually destroyed. AKA, nonexistence is not possible. We are Spirit, Eternal.
We can spend Eternity singing Hallelujah! Halleujah! and the like by focusing on our relationship with our Creator, or we can be conceited, all about ourselves, and burn Eternally in hell because WE WANT TO. Jesus Christ himself could go down to hell 'every single day' and offer unlimited get out of hell free cards and every single soul would tell him to F off! Souls in hell are so twisted, Heaven would be hell to them.
IN SHORT, free will.
We can make our lifes on earth about God or about ourselves. That choice has Eternal consequences.
As creatures, we are by definition flawed. We are not God. We mess up. What matters is not the mistakes, but the returning back to God.
But in our nonperfection, we get stuck in hurts, misunderstandings, PRIDE. And that stuff is tempting. The world is tempting. And we are not God. We mess up. We do have free will though, and all we have to do is consent to God's good in our life.
Consent is everything. Most of us just say, "NO!" God can't violate our free will. That would not be Good. That would not be Love. More akin to slavery or a robot.
Our NO! is on us, not God. Say yes! 😊 However, we differ from angels. We use our free will constantly in the state of mostly ignorance. That is why we can sin and be forgiven. That is why hell is not for us, but for fallen angels. Their choice was at the 'beginning' of their creation. They were give full knowledge of their existence under God's will and given 'a one time choice': yes or no. Hell is for those who said no to God's will. Satan's only joy is tricking foolish human souls into saying No as well and sharing a fate they were never intended for.
(Gratitude is the attitude is all the shortcut anyone every really needs, fyi!)

I hope you won't reject Jesus Christ due simply to the mainstream belief that the Bible teaches Eternal Torment in the afterlife as a form of punishment.
The other 2 beliefs are well defended by the Bible and there are a few debates on UA-cam regarding the views.

For some reason when the concept of God comes up, they lose all rationality. Just because Islam and Christianity use the same name, (God), obviously doesn't mean that they are speaking about the same being. There are many Mikes in the world, but what separates the different Mikes is the character. The God in Islam and the God in Christianity have different characters, so they cannot be the same God. They only share the same common name. I think what these people mean when they say this is that, "Christians and Muslims are both wrong". They think they're just cultural beliefs that have no actual standing in reality. Just noble lies.

They don’t have the same name. God isn’t a name in the same way that your name isn’t “human”. That’s just what you are.
The God of Christianity has a name, it is YHWH. The god in Islam doesn’t have a name. “Allah” is simply the Arabic word for “God”.
