I like him because he gets right to it, he doesn't make you listen to a bunch of intro-music, and he doesn't waste time talking about his garden-cred. He just jumps in, and you immediately start learning, which is what I like.

you should do airlayering mr. garden man especially in the hot climate you live in. it prevents both the mother plant and the cutting from any side effects from the stress of cutting. I've also noticed a lot of plants, even if they successfully root from cutting will wilt, lose all of their leaves and take weeks just to get to the point where they're starting to recover. airlayering allows it to grow normally and root at the same time, and if you use a long section of branch to form roots, you can create a plant that has the ability to grow even faster than a p lant that's been in the ground since seedling, because it has a huge root system and can devote 100 percent of it to a very small amount of vegatation above ground. if you've ever cut down a large plant or tree and left one or two buds on it, you've probobly seen that it grows like crazy.

The Brazilian Red Cloak (Megaskepasma erythrochlamys) is ALSO VERY EASY to propagate from cuttings. I received a small cutting in the spring of 2012 and planted the 8 inch Red Cloak in Simi Shade Memorial Day. Grew to a large bush 6 feet high by October and had beautiful red flowers end of October thru early April. A Beautiful addition to my Fort Myers garden. I just started cuttings this spring to give to friends and plant in other areas of my yard.

Supplementing with rooting hormones and honey is usually just for softwood cuttings as they're rather delicate. But many people apply powder hormone incorrectly anyway... The honey trick is one I haven't tested but probably makes use of honey's ability to draw moisture from the air. Without roots a cutting's ability to draw up a steady amount of moisture would be impared so the honey may help with that....Also the plumeria/frangipanii would probably appreciate being treated as a succulent cutting rather than a hard-wood cutting..... btw, I think you're adorable.

An organic way to go instead of rooting compounds for those hard to root plants is finding someone with a weeping willow tree, cut a small branch off and throw it in a bowl of water(cut the branch into 1" to 2" pieces and let it sit for 24 hours or longer). Take your branch or cutting and lt sit in the water for about a week to a week and a half, after noticing some roots Then do as Greg has adviced and you should be able to root just about any plant.
