Want more Cedric and Patrick on Shuffle Up & Play? Watch them square off with classic Modern decks in Splinter Twin VS Birthing Pod way back in episode 2 here: ua-cam.com/video/eMcJe_VWUfU/v-deo.html
Profesor, is the one that wins two times the one that takes the victory at the end, try to explain it that way and more people would see the logic on your gamemode.
@@thirdcoast6513 I dunno if it's purely the luck of the draw but I literally cracked two foil Scalding Tarns from the last Modern Horizons 2 set box I opened up. If you're just looking for fetches it might be more ergonomic to buy them as singles but you can definitely find some that set if you want to just open packs.
This whole episode is a masterclass in trolling. I have learned so much, primarily the importance of updating ones life total after resolving a Polluted Delta.
35:58 Setup. Patrick explains how to manipulate a novice player and provides an example. 36:48 Very funny. 46:00 Payoff. Professor has the opportunity to surveil and leaves a card on top of his deck that he likes. Patrick, knowing that its a card he wants to keep, convinces the prof to surveil the card anyways with a boast so ridiculous that the prof falls for it and rids himself of a Flusterstorm. And it cost him nothing. Genius.
I reaaaaaally enjoy the matter of fact way of speaking when going about a normal game of magic they have. It's a perfect mix of extremely professional, and sarcastic banter that every magic player can follow. Would love for them to be another staple Shuffle Up & Play group. Like once every couple of months they come around and shoot the breeze with Prof (and maybe others.)
All Shuffle Up and Play have been great watches, but this one is definitely one of the very best. The chemistry and banter between Patrick and Cedric was absolutely hillarious, and the Professor an equally great job of bouncing them off each other, and acting as a go-between. Great stuff all around.
This "trio" lmfao. Excuse yourself. There is no trio, only the duo of legend. Two of these guys have an insanely long history of working together. Traveling together, living together and making content together. One guy is a friendly.guy with a large platform who invites them on to show off their goated dynamic
I hope these shuffle up and plays are doing well for you! I really like them! I mean I like all your stuff but I hav'nt played magic myself in a few years because I've seen the direction that the company has been going and I'm just not into that. But it's nice to see fun people play fun games without all the drama! Keep up the awesome work Prof!
Patrick and Cedric are pure gold. Thank you Prof for bringing us this episode and thank you Cedric and Patrick for coming on Prof's excellent game play show.
I’m not a Modern player, and I’ve only known Cedric and Patrick from the previous episodes (because I’m French 😅 🇫🇷), but they are probably my favorite guests I’ve ever seen on a Magic UA-cam channel... Your trio works so well with such energy and humor, I love it. Thanks to the three of you for lightening up my day ☀️
I haven't even finished watching this yet, in fact, I am 13:31 minutes in..... This is the best thing I have watched in my life! Thank you Professor, thank you Cedric, and thank you Patrick!
Patrick verbalizing every single step and phase of the turn just to get on Cedric’s nerves is hilarious 😂 I’m surprised he didn’t toss in a random “what color is your mongrel?” for no reason
The chemistry between Patrick and Cedric is what makes them my absolute favorite commentators for MTG of all time, the hilarious back and forth banter and sarcasm is wonderful! I loved seeing them play each other, so much fun
What a stupendous episode! I know the trope is "Prof loses a lot", but seeing him win was so enjoyable. Patrick and Cedric were phenomenal guests! Well done all around!
I've watched these guys on streams for a LONG time and have even played against them both a few times. I always fracking love the sarcasm laced commentary between them. The banter here very clearly shows these 2 have known each other a very, veeeery long time. The Prof hopping in on the banter train was cute too. Easily in my top 3 favorite episodes of SU&P.
These are two of the funniest most naturally charismatic magic players to ever enter the magic UA-cam-media plane. Thank you prof for bringing these two together again! Bring back the resleevables!
I was going through really rough time, and was coping by watching SCG tournaments (mostly Legacy). Patrick Sullivan and Cedric Phillips together releases so much feel good chemicals for me. Love seeing these guys together and actually playing Magic together, instead of just commenting (though I'd watch them commenting too)
Far and away my favorite episode of shuffle up and play. This kind of close teasing and joking is the perfect embodiment of the "Gathering" part of the game I've missed.
This is very quickly becoming one of my favorite series of yours prof :D Patrick Sullivan was my hero in Burn as I started dipping my toes into Legacy. Sullivan vs Merriam is one of the all time great moments in competitive magic history
I only realised the other day that this series was a result on the kickstarter - so glad that you got the support you needed to make this prof it is truly amazing!
So ironic that, in all his harping about the 1 life point from polluted delta, Patrick was never correctly referring to the effect. The polluted delta doesn't deal damage, it required Cedric to pay life! Totally different Patrick!
These are actually the only 2 modern decks I physically own, so I am quite familiar with them. Super cool episode with some hilarious personalities piloting some super cool decks!!
Oh man, I'm so looking forward to Gavin being on the show. I'm glad his Good Morning Magic is back as well, because, I just missed positive emotions around the game. So much has happened in the last six months, and I'm glad the happiest man in MTG has reappeared on The Tube.
Can I just take a moment to talk about what a legend that editor is? The animations are not only really cool, they do a great job showing on-screen what is happening in-game.
I like Patrick Sullivan's stories of magic of the old days, it's great to hear stories from the old days or development side of magic and would love to see stuff like that!
Haven't played since kamigawa, just got back into MTG for the past few months. Watching you and command center has been why I've been able to develop better strategies and win more often now
These are the best episodes, Patrick is my home town hero and Cedric is just awesome. Pro coverage isnt the same without these two. I miss the days of spending my weekend listening to them cover tourneys.

this is not a link to the star city games draft open finals, prof. i am sorely disappointed.

@@VerrouSuo My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
Have you guys done one on the brothers war yet?
These cedric and patrick episodes are my favorite episodes of this series. Love your content in general, but these are hilarious.
This video is one of the most psychologically taxing exercises in malice and slander I've ever beheld. Bravo
It was like this with Arin too. All the guest players seem permanently pissed off
You may be joking but, to me this is such a sign of their friendship and chemistry. These games were so good.
They're all monsters, this is exactly the way my friends and I harass one another, only, we are 'slightly' less cordial 😆
I ship it
These dudes kinda act like they’ve had each other’s back in an actual fight before.
In this episode: Prof feels the power of a Modern tier 1 deck surge through his veins
You're telling me this is what it feels like not to play merfolk? The power...the power...
40:04 are they talking about modern horizons 2? Im lookin to pick up some fetch lands

Easily the greatest magic commentary duo ever, so glad to see P-sully and C-philly back at it
They're one of my favorite personalities within the magic community. Such cool, knowledgable, fun guys!
This is how you know Patrick and Cedric are true friends: when you can just casually throw shade at the other person and they're just like, "Yeah, OK"
This whole episode is a masterclass in trolling. I have learned so much, primarily the importance of updating ones life total after resolving a Polluted Delta.
The dynamic duo needs to return. Their banter is always top tier
Yeah they were great, and the prof really jumped on board at times as well. They all killed it. I'm still laughing.
By far one of the most - if not the most - entertaining and fun episode so far (imho).
That makes me so happy to hear! Thank you!
It was an absolute blast from start to finish. Loved it from the first seconds. The dynamic between those guys was very entertaining. 👏

The exchanges between Cedric and Patrick REALLY bring me back. The pausing in upkeep to ask how many cards in hand is legendary.

Arguably the greatest commentary duo in pro MTG history. I miss them in action so much!
"Well, he died." I bet he laughed at that from beyond the grave too hahaha
I could watch the Cedric vs Patrick matchups all day, keep em coming
The rapport/banter between this trio is unrivaled

When Cedric said "I tried to get one over on him" I died 🤣🤣💀💀
Such an iconic duo, had to watch the episode twice! Anything with Cedric and P Sully will always get my attention. Great episode!!

Patrick's face at 38:55 when the Prof bolts him. How he kept that reaction inside I will never know

I'm a simple man. I see PSulli and Cedric making content together, I watch it
these are the literal best guests, I miss them doing weekly open coverage so much, the greatest duo right here
Thanks so much for making this episode happen Prof. I've missed their podcast and this episode is a prime example of why they're great.
Whenever I see PSulli play burn, I remember that gutsy stellar play he made against Ross Merriam during a legacy tourney

When Cedric says "Resolves." to P.Sullivan playing sunbaked canyon, that got me good. This was great to watch.
Im living for cedric’s tootsie pop commercial reference at 23:30 even rolling the r like Mr. Owl. One of my favorite episodes!
For those of you who haven't, watch Patrick's Ravenous Chupacabra rant during SCG coverage. Its a really prophetic look at the state of the game now.
