    If you're just blurring the background you can just add the blur effect to the main clip and add the magnetic mask to the effect, no need to duplicate.

    Thank you for the film showing one production idea made possible using the magnetic mask. As a part of a blurred background idea perhaps it would be an idea to include the chair within the mask. It is very close to you in terms of distance from the camera,, and so, even with a manufactured shallower depth of field, the chair would not have been as out of focus as the far wall and furniture. I realise that you were demonstrating the technicalities of the use of the mask, rather than concentrating on an ideal image. You were also showing the edge feathering, so having a blurred background and sharp text behind was the real point. The FCP logo could have gone behind the chair rather than between you and the chair.

    Instead of dropping the magnetic mask effect on the timeline, drag it to the viewer and hover over yourself (ie. Hover the effect over the subject you want to select rather than just dropping it on the timeline). This saves you extra the step of using the plus and minus to fine tune the selection.

    You should be using the magnetic mask on the blur itself. The method you're using you're blurring your image behind your masked image so you're seeing a lot of of the colors of yourself on the edges. If you apply the mask to the blur itself then it will only blur what is the masked

    • @EmberdynFX

      I believe you can select the frames where the mask didn’t get saved and use the dropper or the brush tool to select the mask for those frames. Hope that helps!

    🔥 M1 is, like you say, way faster-that would take about 15 seconds! Great video! My only feedback is that the 'final product' just places the 'C' in the small heading behind the head, which doesn’t make much sense here 😂. I get the point, though, and this will probably kick off a headings-behind-the-head mania for the rest of the year, just because it’s now possible 🤔😂.

      Yeah in reality it took like 10 minutes in my machine. Hoping to upgrade to a better machine in the near future. Good call on the letters behind the subject. I think a better example of using this would be in a shot where the text passes behind the subject but then ultimately you see the full text. Thanks so much for the feedback and for watching. ❤️

  • @mymonfort
    @mymonfort Місяць тому

      Awesome. Yeah that’s definitely faster than my intel core machine it took like 10 minutes to analyze this clip.
