FUCK, I knew that this was gonna be discussed in Anthrax's history, but the tragedy that was the death of Cliff Burton is something that always hits me hard & hurts....he was so beloved & loved by so many people...

Funny thing is, Roger Patterson of Atheist - who was also the bass player - died in almost exactly the same way but hardly anyone ever talks about that. Just pointing out how spookily similar the two events were.
I was lucky enough to see them on that tour in '86 with Metallica in the UK, a few weeks before we lost Cliff. They were both amazing and such a loss. Great they are humble about what it and what Cliff meant to us

Growing up on Long Island NY when skateboarding was LIFE, literally skated all day everyday 24/7 half pipe, quarter pipe, empty public pools, street sk8 you name it we lived it, all while blasting Among the living on tape on our portable boom box's ! Among The Living, Is 1 of the all time greatest thrash albums ever created.... Also was the first time for me seeing an Anthrax show in SoCal back in early 88' at the Pacific Amphitheater in Costa Mesa CA. and getting to meet Frank and Scott on the bus after the show in the parking lot was just killer! Scott was mellow and all smiles, Frank was, FRANK! They were both thankful, It was a great night....

God I loved Dark Angel. "Darkness Descends" made me pull out the thesaurus and encyclopedia when I was in 8th grade. They made me fall in love with lyrics.

I was lucky to see Cliff play with Metallica on Day on the green in Oakland CA. And when they opened up for Ozzy. I wish I could of seen Anthrax and Metallica tour together.

That band Panic he put together was probably why we're even discussing any of this today. I do often wonder, if Dave couldve gotten his ego and drinking in check, and Cliff still been around, how those two wouldve entertwined musically over decades. Probably a real loss for the scene IMO.

I'll never understand why so many people disregard Anthrax as a legit Thrash band. It's always, "replace Anthrax with (*insert random band) in the Big Four. Fistful Of Metal is one of the greatest albums of all time.

Same here man. I was in 8th grade gym class about to walk down the hall to the next class when my friend told me the news. I had to go to the restroom and cry. He was the first death I experienced. Watching this today brought that all back.

I still remember only a few days after their Edinburgh gig on that tour, I lay on my bed listening to Tommy Vance's Friday Rock Show on the BBC and he announced Cliff's tragic accident and death. Shocked me to the core. RIP Cliff Burton and RIP Tommy Vance.
Really touching memories of Cliff. I was lucky enough to see both bands at Newcastle Mayfair in September 1986 just a week before the tragedy. Still got vivid memories of the concert and I still have the ticket stub nearly 35 years later. Both bands were excellent that night and in the years after. Really enjoying this series thanks for posting
I'll never forget seeing Anthrax and Metal Church on the Among tour in my little North Dakota town. They brought it hard for the 400 or so of us that showed up. The venue was just EMPTY. It would have been easy to cancel the show or whatever, but they played and as Anthrax does they gave us the same show that 10,000 kids would have received, Metal Church did as well. Much respect. That made a gigantic impression on me.
Man...I didn't realize they toured with Cliff when he passed. Damn, this brought tears to my eyes hearing these stories. I was in Jr. High when I heard about Cliff. Great episode guys! Be blessed!

Each of The Big 4 had their own personality - Slayer was the fastest & heaviest, Megadeath was the most technical, Metallica's songs we're so brilliantly written they sometimes resembled symphonies, and Anthrax was just plain FUN! \m/
I look forward to each new video hugely! We're in week 3, so much more gold to come. Brilliant documentary series, and to echo the sentiments of many other posters, hopefully they release the full 33-part documentary with the live show on DVD!

I saw Charlie at a DAve Matthews gig, TOTALLY getting into it. It was cool, even musicians are fans feeling it grande & air drumming to Carters killer playing

This made me really miss Cliff - he was the Jimi Hendrix of bass.
