    Coach, your english got much better over the years. We all love the french accent. Continue the good work. I pick up a lot of great tips and tricks i never learned in my German TT education, although it was a good one. ie. hold the racket loose, accelerate when hitting the ball, just simple stuff like this that still at my old age inspire me to try them out and incorporate.

    The Chinese team is very minimalistic in their approach. (training and techniques)
    Focus on mastery of few skills instead of spending time experimenting with less effective-improvised techniques.
    And the "high detail" is a simple break down of each involved body part and movement.
    Which is pretty significant to communicating the technique to the player.
    Something I think the Chinese do far better than most European coaches. Not necessarily much better than the Japanese though.
    That + their discipline.. and let's not forget the numbers also... ^^

    What Coach Em Rat Thich conveniently forgot to tell everyone is this. In order to be a Chinese National Team Coach. He or she needs to have a minimum of 3 qualifications. 1. Must be a former National Chinese Team Member. 2. Must win the World Championship. 3. Must be an Olympic Champion.
    Has anyone notice anything familiar over those criteria? That's right, one thing. It is your ability to win under any circumstances. No excuses of whether you are at your top game or not. You will need to find a way to beat your opponent. Now how can you do that?
    All those coaches have lots of professional experiences. They go through lots of game tapes of their upcoming opponents to studying both of the strong and weak points.
    As well, imagine you have your own World and Olympic Champion coaching as your own personal coach, wouldn't you improve right away? And the team is stacked. So what are the chances of the other teams around the world to compete?
    This is the sport where you have the best players and coaches combined. They will always have something new, like a new serve, new strategies, new techniques, and covering for all bases. Honestly, which country has a chance to have a whole team competing against them? The Swedish team in the 1990s back then had a strong 1-2-3 with Waldner, Applegren and Persson. But they could barely squeaked by the Chinese Team, who were not as strong as them. However, the younger waves of Wang Hao, Wang Li Qin, Ma Lin and others who were technically much stronger. With the shorter format of Best of 7 at 11, really using their 'power from the ground loop to loop game' to exploit the weakness of the other teams.
    Most of the other countries these days rarely has a strong 1-2. Let alone a coach can do the 'Marvellous 12' of the best 12 every year and they are not all that far off. China has the deepest developing system ladder for table tennis. That's why Harimoto with his talent would barely make it to the top provincial team or even the Chinese 'C' team had his parents remained there. Heck, even Fan Zhendong wasn't even on the radar until he was 15 years old.
    Can the Chinese team be beaten? Absolutely. But chances are long, simply you need to have enough players into the feeder system of development to get the top players and have those top players continue developing. With that you must have all the right coaches along the way. The youngest Chinese players started playing competitively when they are 5 years old, they are sent away to the table tennis oriented training schools. How many countries can say they are willing to do just that?

    Yeah China can have best of everything as you said, but the fundamental factor of those reasons is TT is their national sport played by so many of their people. This popularity attracts many talented people to play and later coach. This also attracts capital / financial support to the sport like national league with good financial rewards, corporate sponsors and government funding, etc.
    The reason western countries in general are not so good in TT (at least comparatively against Asian giants like China, Korea and Japan) is because the sport is not that popular among the people there. In USA, their national sports are basketball with their famous NBA and maybe softball and football coming as 2nd and 3rd most popular sports that attracts players, viewers and corporate sponsors. In Europe maybe soccer is most popular and they're best in this sport.
    The irony is of course the fact that TT was supposed to be invented in England, not an Asian country. I believe incentives always work, so if money flows to TT in USA like they flow to NBA, probably USA can catch-up with Asian giants sooner than later. Same thing also if same money flows to TT like they flow to big soccer clubs in Europe, I would not be surprised that European players in the future will get better and compete more effectively against Chinese players.

    Thanks Coach but you misunderstood the word Watch! and See!! Watch something is when you wouldlike to find some details and mistakes! but see something is vice versa! when a coach does train He or She should watch the details! not just to see!{“See” means to notice or become aware of someone or something by using your eyes. “Look” means to direct your eyes in a particular direction. “Watch” means to look at someone or something for an amount of time and pay attention to what is happening}.

    • @apellonziaddy9622
      @apellonziaddy9622 4 роки тому +2

      Nope i think coach is right in this scenario. You can watch someone train but you may not SEE his flaws.

    • @syzygy6769
      @syzygy6769 4 роки тому +1

      The coach is right. Seeing involves noticing, in macro as well as micro levels. People tend to miss one of the two levels. This applies to most situations in life in the world. Most people watch what's happening but don't see what's happening. In effect, they are blind to what's happening and are not ready for what's next. Karma is cause and effect. People are stuck in their situation because they don't see the cause of the effect. Essentially, people watch the effect but do not see the cause. And the effect is also the cause of what's next.
      A good coach is one with very keen eyes so s/he sees clearly what the player is doing and even thinking and feeling. Then s/he can adjust the player's techniques or mental state for improvements. A top Chinese coach to a top Chinese player, I forget which one, probably ZJK, said he knew how the player felt from looking at his back. The spectators only watch the game and do not see the many details in each moment.

    • @gab5012
      @gab5012 4 роки тому

      He meant watch as in to watch them train, and see is to see/ find the details, in this case their errors

    Dude, I love your videos...but you are missing lots of very important points here. Yes, the Chinese team have the best coach, amazing focus on details and a great learning program...but you are missing lots of MAJOR points:
    - Attractiveness: As opposed to China where It is a major sport, TT is a minor sport in Europe and US. Even today, a HUGE amount of people simply do not consider TT a sport. It is facing competition of other more prestigious sports both team sports (soccer, basketball, handball, etc) and single sports (tennis, badminton, etc).
    - Demographics: the whole US and European population combine is still small compared to China. Simple math.
    - Schools & tables availability: correct me if I am wrong, but tables are super easy to find in China for people to play and is massively proposed at school...which is perfect for high potential player detection. In Europe and US, TT is rarely proposed at School.
    - Economics : It is common to see in China major players at the cover of prestigious magazines...which says a lot about TT economics. People can live from TT, lots of them. In Europe and US, it is incredibly hard to make a living, even more for women. Lots of players have to think about a plan B soon and cannot go 100% in TT as early and confidently as Chinese players.
    - Training schedule : The Chinese TT league is very short in time and therefore give lots of time for players to play. Needless to say when a major event in coming, their schedule are free. Europe and US players do not have that much time because their leagues last nearly all year long and they get most of their income from their club...so they cannot stop playing in league for 2 months before any major events.
    Please add more or add feedbacks
    Cheers

      You are totally right.Europeans do not invest resources in table tennis as it's one of the worst sports for spectators and doesn't draw endorsements.It's not even a real sport,it's more of a fine motor control based game like learning to play the violin.It's respectable but not really a physical sport.

      I don't know much about the Europeans but I know more than I want about Americans. I live in New York City for 50 years. Dude, account to you a HUGE amount of people don't consider table tennis a sport. I don't know about HUGE, perhaps some people in the west. It's always the west, especially the Americans. When they are not involved in something they always thumb their snobby nose at it, however, those same folks consider the following as sports, listen to this: auto racing, equestrian, fishing, archery, pocket billiard, darts, just to name a few. Why do the above-mentioned activities are sports, but table tennis is not considered a sport by the HUGE amount of people? Simple, because the westerners are engaged with the activities, but not Table tennis, therefore, it's not considered a sport. That's your Western mentality.

    I think you should replace "secrets" with "reasons". None of those are secret to anyone following the scene. Also the perhaps only actual secret was conveniently left out, which is the equipment advantage. The top chinese players use non commercially available equipment while as others might use a finer tuned/adjusted version of a commercially available rubber/blade. Also considering you never seem to upload videos about how "non chinese pros" train I wonder if you actually compare training methods from top non chinese players or if you simply draw the conclusion that the chinese players must have the best training/coaches since they win the most.

    Coach, your english is ok. No problemo... But this 5 "secrets" ? Are you serious ? Nooo. China has the most elaborated system of finding talented players. But to created this system it took over 50 years since chairmen Mao declared ping pong a national China sport to became dominant. The world "best" coaches, best training system etc. gives just average if you do not have people with superior set of skills for just that sport. Why Mark Spitz won 7 gold medals in Munich in 1972 ? USA has the best coaches and training system in the world ? NO !! Mark Spitz was extremally talented swimmer. China starts with training of 20 million kids every year, they are bound (biology teaches us about rules of large genetic pools) to find 30-50 with extreme abilities for table tennis. And then the state put monies in them and produce champions. And this is the power and "secret" of Chinese success.
    Some say that Ma Long is the GOAT. let see, if he will dominate this sport for 20 years as Waldner did.
