    If you have listen to Calypso 2 from JMJ cd albums and the beginning you hear this 2 sounds from Roland D-50 :)
    Roland PN-D50-04 "Marshy Zone" patch has been used in "Calypso Part 2" (Track 2) as the introduction special oceanic FX. It is then enhanced (0'07'') with the Metra Sound "Rubicon" patch

    It happend for some years ago before I bought a laptop, but it was that time I had a Stationary PC with Firefox Browser, which I had for some years ago. But I think it was in 2012 or 2013 or few years earlier, that I came across a French website contains Synth, Equipments etc, which was used in this track Calypso 2, which Synth, Keyboard this bubble effects was played from, that sound you can hear at 1:59 in this videoclip and you will noticed the fingers and hands to the person playing that part when he is boucinng on his Keyboard/Synth Keys :) I have not got any answer yet from JMJ or from the person, who is playing that bouncy part in Calypso 2, but I know he is playing from his Roland D-50, but I have watched this concert so many times and know and have noticed that person playing this bouncy part at 1:59 in this video is turning back to the equimpents he have behind him and I have noticed he had some Expanders there :) Maybe this bouncy sound you will hear at 1:59 in this video is from a Roland D-550 Expander :)

    Info
    Roland D-50
    This is the Roland D-50 or better known as "The Pad Machine". It came out in 1987 and is famous for its wonderful pads, but it can do bass and leads just as well. D-50 is an all-digital synthesizer, but still it sounds analog and dirty. The D-50 was the first ever digital linear synthesizer to hit the market, whatever "digital linear" means... It makes sound using short PCM samples combined with a digital analog synth generator. The keys are velocity sensitive with aftertouch. A downside with the D-50 is programmability. It's just about impossible to program sounds directly on it, you have to work your way thru endless amounts of menus. The rare PG-1000 is a dedicated D-50 programmer with lots of sliders - whish I had one! I make my sounds with a piece of software called D-50 Virtual Editor.
    Lots of music and movie soundtracks made in the late eighties and early nineties have D-50 all over it. For instance a couple of my favorite movies; Robocop and Peter Jackson's Bad Taste clearly have D-50 action going on.
    Audio samples
    Arco Strings If you're a fan of splatter movies, you may recognize this sound from Bad Taste.
    Digital Cello Bad Taste tension music.
    Future Pad And now some Bad Taste action music!
    Pizzagogo The pizzicato pad from Enya's Orinoco Flows.
    Nightmare This sound brings me back to the days when I played Alone In The Dark 3.
    Dense Forest Awesome jungle ambience factory preset.
    Devildom A creepy-cave kinda sound.
    Twilight Zone Excellent horror movie tension sound.
    Digital Native Dance A D-50 classic.
    Digital Atmosphere Very cool D-50 pad.
    Soundtrack Another D-50 classic sound.
    Spacious Sweep One of my favorite D-50 factory presets.
    Reso Release It's nice with velocity sensitive keys!
    Intruder FX Spacey sound effect.
    Star-Trek Voices A chord played with the superb Star-Trek Voices preset.
    Deep bass This one can blow your speakers!
    Oberheim sound Typical Oberheim fatness.
    Motor Orchestra Industrial Revolution intro.
    Clockworks Industrial Revolution Overture rhythm.
    Marshy Zone A D-50 preset Jean Michel Jarre used at the start of Calypso 2.
    Computer Weekend The main lead Jarre used in Computer Weekend.
    Alien Cam More D-50 in Computer Weekend.

    perkristian I found his website to have some sounds from different Synths and Keyboards used on some of JMJ cd albums :) Maybe I can find that strange sound you can hear at 2:00 on this video after JMJ pointed his fingers up :)

    This is what JMJ said to his visitors who were watching his Paris La Defense show after he and his aides had played Oxygene 4 : "Bonsoir à tous, ça nous fait très très plaisir que vous soyez venu aussi nombreux, on s'y attendait pas. on espère que vous allez passer une bonne soirée et que le concert vous plaira"

      But a woman I met on Facebook some years ago wrote the translation what JMJ said after he and his aids have played Oxygene 4 on JMJ concert Paris La Defense ☺ This is the translation in English : "Good evening to everyone, we are very glad that so many people came, we didn't expect that. We hope that you will enjoy your night and that you will like the concert" :)

    I have Waiting For Cousteau on songbook and the drummer on this concert play first some keys with snare drum, before he tramp on his bass drum follow by bass drum + low agogo, bass drum+snare drum etc :) That is because in my Waiting For Cousteau songbook there is Key to Percussion Notation in it :)

    Anyone care to guess what the sequence sound that starts at 1:59 might be coming from?

    • @MoodMan35
      @MoodMan35 7 років тому

      I'm wondering the same :) It's Frederick Rousseau one of JMJ aides, who is playing that part, when he is bouncing with is finger on his keyboar/synth keys :) For 9-10 years ago I found and came across a French website with sounds and effects used on Calypso 2, but that website doesn't exist anymore :( I have ask lots of my common JMJ fans, who can play his tracks too, but they doesn't know what sequence sound it is :( I have noticed many time before Frederick Rousseau is turning around back where his sound racks is and he is chosing that bouncy sound there :)

    • @MoodMan35
      @MoodMan35 7 років тому

      It can come from a Roland D-50, but I'm not sure :)

      I have ask the musician, who are playing that sequence sound that starts at 1:59 on this concert :) It's Frederick Rousseau one of JMJ aides playing that part and I have asked him about that sound on Facebook this evening, so I have to wait maybe tomorrow or some days a replay from him, when not others who are JMJ fan can help me and not even websites with synths/keyboards etc there this sounds playing from :)

    Here are some facts about Calypso 2 from this concert, which was taken away :)
    Calypso part 2 (Starts with underwater sounds of Calypso 1.
    Jarre tried to use the LaserHarp(TM) for the main
    melody... The MIDI-system didn't work.) Someone mention to me that the laserharp on this concert fell down :) It was something wrong with the midi system instead :/

    La lutte pour la liberté est aussi, à mon avis, la lutte pour l'environnement ... et ... Je pense aujourd'hui pour quelqu'un que j'aime beaucoup, qui s'appelle le commandant Cousteau, qui aurait dû être avec nous ce soir, [mais] qui a quitté début de Juillet en Extrême-Orient. Et je voudrais lui dédier la prochaine partie du concert, dont le nom est Calypso

    • @MoodMan35
      @MoodMan35 4 роки тому

      The fight for freedom is also, in my opinion, the fight for the environment ... and ... I think today for someone I love very much, who is called Major Cousteau, who would have had to be with us tonight, [but] who left early July in the Far East. And I would like to dedicate the next part of the concert to him, whose name is Calypso

    Here is 2 question I ask on vintage synth forum about some sounds, which was used on 2 of JMJ Tracklist from Paris La Defense, which was Revolutions and Calypso 2 and here is the answer I got :
    The Revolutions has been done to death: that's D-50, there's a bank floating on the net that contains all the programs JMJ used there (and Calypso).
    As for the Calypso sound, can you provide an example? UA-cam video?
    --OK, found La Defense on YT, you mean that S&H arpeggio-like sound? It's either Synthex, or D-50 again - from "nasal" resonance I'd bet on the latter.

    Guess what folks? If you are wondering, who is playing this Bouncy Sequence sound when you are seeing the jellyfish at the beginning, after Jean Michel Jarre is pointing both is finger up it's Frederic Rousseau :D I think it is him :D

  • @MoodMan35
    @MoodMan35 15 років тому

    If ya are wondering what sound JMJ are playing on his Laser Harp on Calypso 2 it's a Voice sound I know, but that sound at the begining when ya notice that jellyfish on the Skyscrapers and when JMJ is pointing 2 fingers up it's kind of a bouncing sound ya tell me hehe :) and it's Frederick Rousseau who is playing that bouncy sound on Calypso 2 :D

      If you can tell me when did you hear that springy lead on this videoclip and what time did you hear that sound? Was it when these jelly fish was showing on the skyscrapers you are prefering too and that sound which is strange one? It is this guy/man which playing thay part : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederick_Rousseau I don't know what kind of Keyboard or Synth he played on the upper level, when he play that part, but I have watched Paris La Defense many times and have noticed he is turning back to chose something behind him and I think it much be his Expander to his keyboard or synth he transfer his sound to his keyboard or synth :) I was some years ago lucky I did found out what that kind of Springy lead was, when Frederick Rousseau is bounching his fingers on his Keyboard/Synth keys :)
