Tragedy was watching this great Daytona video for the 2nd time with a click bait title and no tragedy info
I thought it was clickbait too but it’s real. An internet search for “Dodge Daytona Florida Hurricane” will turn up a Motor Trend article telling all about it. The car was turned upside down by water, both were completely submerged.
@@MrJeffcoley1Yes, but absolutely nothing in this video talks about that... NOTHING! So why is it in the title? That's the very definition of click bait.
@@williamsteele It is, but I thought the thumbnail was Photoshopped. It isn’t. I agree it was a shitty trick, not even so much as a text intro or link to the article in the description
@@MrJeffcoley1It wasn't even this car. It was two of the couple's other winged cars.
The ending with Mark and the interview cracked me up! LOL
Mark. You are a really funny guy. I love watching your show. Every single episode. Hilarious. And it goes without saying, i am a Mopar nut because of you and Graveyard Carz. I'm praying I get a chance to have you restore one for me one day. ❤️
I really appreciate that you all had a serious conversation about keeping it unrestored. That proves your love of these cars is genuine and not just about the money. so glad you put slots on it. Nice car great color combo. Great acting too, your a funny guy.✌️
Should have been unrestored much more cooler the history is gone now
Gotta call bull$hit. SO lame they restored this rare car. Probably even the most original in the world. Or was.
Storing classic cars at sea level on a beach during a hurricane. Brilliant!
Is called an opportunity lol
I know
So easy to say “brilliant”
The original owner had over 2 cars in his collection He moved over 5plus cars to a safe place and had no time to move theses 2 cars .So he left them on the lift No one thought the hurricane would be this bad. What really is brilliant is your comment be nice to see your car collection and the fact that you think this is one of the hurricane cars. What about the owner of the P1 is he also brilliant
@JK maybe find out the back story before running your mouth like a fool.....
Yes Mark we feel sorry for you having a rough start in life but it made you determined and successful and you wouldn't be where you're at today if you had not had that adversity you are the man right there underneath the dagostino she still have something to strive for it's okay buddy we're all proud of where you are it doesn't matter where you came from if you're actually still alive
thats not true he could of had bigger and better things not struggle so much life don't have to be hard to be a good person he could of got his start sooner he could of got a house sooner he could have had a better life at a younger age so much good can come from a good start in life think about it family's that have good money give their kids the step up they need to get going in life cosign for a new car and put them on credit cards help with the down payment on a house start their credit and help with the biggest start in life now you take people who don't get that spend more of their life struggling maxing out starter cards trying to get credit renting hole in the wall places just to have a roof over their head driving junk cars just to get to work with a low paying job and when they finely think they can afford a decent car the job lays them off and they get a repo plus go belly up on the starter cards and now credit is trash now you have to find a new crap low paying job so your not on the streets and now you have no car and take the bus or bum rides when you can you barely make enough to pay rent and can't buy a car now that you have a repo and no way to save for a downpayment and no way to save for buying a beater and no help up so hell yeah its okay to be bitter when you see people throwing money around like it just grows on trees the cars they are talking about are 100,000-200,000 cars and they own 4 and are going to buy 3 more for their kids like its nothing i would be pissed to
@@tunercars3 You sound like a real immature bundle of joy. Being bitter is never ok. Make the best of it and move on. Leave the past in the past and stop being such a materialistic child.
Well this is great. The guy has three more winged cars and Mark won't get to do any of them. Instead of Mark being happy for the family he wants to drive into oncoming traffic. Spending the kind of money to restore a car like this is an emotional experience. Needless to say I don't think they will want to go through that again after seeing Marks reaction to their story.
Mark's reaction to the backstory was frickin hilarious, especially because I feel the same as Mark!
Nothing of the kind. Highly inappropriate as a business owner, and offensive on a personal level. Enough of the pity party already. Mark is not the only one with some difficulties in his life. It is a small person who has to tear down anyone more fortunate than him. Was it the owner's fault he had a well-to-do father?
Mark! Be quiet! Let the owners tell THEIR story. We know you had hard times but it’s their turn to talk!,, 😅
The "rare" Osgood-Schlatter - this isn't some life-ending disease Mark. It does mean you likely couldn't do school sports, but that's it. This isn't about you, it's about the car and their owners. Keep the ego in check.
Wish my brother still had his 68 R R . Mark, we love ya & all you do for Mopar brother!
Loved Mark's commentary and expressions during the car owner's history interview. He really is an entertainer and a good actor. Funny but I can also relate to his high school years and being on the have-not side but that just means we appreciate our accomplishments even more.
it also means we spend way to much of life getting the accomplishments and less time enjoying them
I love the bitter life experiance comments! Sorry buddy, but guess what, those hard experiences made you the success you are today! Way to go! Awesome show!
Every time I see Mark's old Charger I always wonder why the front right wheel is so Cattywhumpus.
Because the original wheel was stolen and he then stole the wheel that you see in the picture off of a caddywack.
Mark you did very well with your hard start in life. Stop complaining about it, we heard it so many times you are driving viewers away. Your life turned out pretty dam good.
Favorite channel on UA-cam and I think I've finally learned how to zone out Mark's whining about his childhood or how he gets a new catch phrase and runs it in to the ground by over using it. M.O.O.N. spells dead as in that horse is dead you rode it to death.
Mark I also @ 15 carried my dad's casket 1978 and again @ 18 for my mother and baby sister 1982 separate accidents both caused by drunk drivers. It molded the rest of my life especially during holidays so I know what you feel. My dad had a 1970 road runner 383/4 speed car ( goose neck shifter ) with the air grabber scoop bucket seats non console . My favorite memories but he sold the car in 1977 to Charlie Yates in Manassas Virginia a year before his death, I'm amazed that guys name came to me 48 years later however I love your show and the love you have for your childhood memories good/bad just know that you're not the only one and I hope you never change for anyone, as they say until you've walked a mile in my shoes.
40:00 Ha! I kinda started feeling the same. In 1999, 17 years old, I bought for $500 a 1987 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z. I worked on that car all year. Spending what savings I had, all my money from the job I had (I was emancipated and graduated early, long story) and by the end of the year there wasn't a single part on that car I hadn't touched, removed and re-added. In 2008, I hit a dip in the road pretty hard (Las Vegas roads can be real crappy in some places) and put a hole in the oil pan. I didn't know that, until I left an intersection, went into second gear and THUNK The whole car lurched forward. I had enough momentum to get on a side street and the engine completely died. Threw a rod and a piston seized. I was not doing too well financially, so my father let me keep the car at his house as I gathered the money and started sourcing a replacement block. Eight months later I finally got my hands on one and me and my buddy got it loaded in his truck and went to my father's house to repair it. The car was gone. I thought it was stolen somehow. No. My stepmother convinced my dad to let some dude take it, for free, for his son to work on. A month before I showed up with the replacement block. It still had stuff I was going to pull off of it, but oh well. I left it in his driveway and went home. Didn't speak to him until about 2017. I still don't speak to my stepmother.
Mark, your audio should have been muted! This was supposed to be their history about the car.
Love the “Stand” quotes SK, Moon that spells everything lol.
Love your videos and I hate to say that I like the slots and my favorite tire is the white letter t/as I have several cars and I bought several sets of slots and tires and have them stored so now that I'm retired I have all the parts to restore my cars because I knew that someday we won't be able to find the parts any way I love watching you and your crue keep up the good work thanks
Interesting how even with all of Mark's success and recognition as a top Mopar restoration expert he still falls right into self pity when talking about his childhood. His reflections are both uncomfortable and distracting during the episodes along with remaining a powerful force in his life - one that did not diminish with his success.
I'm guilty of that as well, sorry to say. What can happen during a person's childhood all too often can 'cripple' said person 20 years later.
yep when we get in a relationship we pick a mom or a dad figure and we put all our stuff that they put on us on too our partner and if you can’t work it out and let it go. You won’t evolve as a human.
I will agree 100% . Unfortunately these are classic signs of a narcissist as well as someone who suffers with depression as well. To many highs (happy) and lows (angry) when someone does not listen to him. Love the work the team does on these cars, love the show, but not his emotional roller coaster rides, constant berate-meant to his employees and the all about me attitude.
It never goes away.
freakin annoying and check out 31:00 him saying everything works great but the headlights work like shit lol
I’m with you Mark. I ain’t no fortunate son. My Father died when I was 9 years old. He was a disabled WW2 veteran. I worked my ass off at after school jobs to buy my first car. It was a 1969 Firebird 350 ,3 speed in 1975 ($900). I couldn’t afford nice tires and rims or any upgrades. I barely had gas and insurance money. That guy had a new Daytona at 16 ? He didn’t even look happy when he picked up the Daytona. I would have been out of my mind over joyed. I would have cried with joy. All I can say is, it must be nice to hand out Superbirds like Birthday cake.
"Did a brodie in the old lady's front yard!"😂😂❤
EPIC!!!!🤣🤣🤣
topaz 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂another mark pure gold moment great channel big fan
Absolutely beautiful work
I love marks humour segments throughout the show so good
Wow, that was some amazingly petty bullshit with Mark continually complaining about his childhood. I appreciate the restoration skills but not enough to outweigh that childishness.
I'm so dyslexic that I thought the title of the video said hurricane car was just destroyed by graveyard cars lol
the two cars showed in an interview with this owner after the hurricane show a 70 vitamin C orange superbird currently being restored and tor red 69 daytona with a white stripe.
This car and another car were trailered away before Hurricane Ian hit, the Two remaining cars were left on a double car lift on the upper level Hoping the storm surge would not reach that high. also the family remained behind and was living in the second story of the house , there was no time to remove the two cars that got damaged. The title on this video is blatantly misleading, this car was never damaged during Hurricane Ian here in Florida, it was not even located at the property.
@@KnighteWulf So this video wasn't about the flood cars from hurricane, going by the deceptive title.....
Mark, how you’ve dealt with where you’ve been and what you’ve lived is what makes you who you are. The fact that you’ve overcome so much should give you confidence and self assurance. Those can’t be bought.
One thing I would do on EVERY car ....putting in a 3 point seatbelt. Great show BTW. Greetz from Belgium.
@ 30:50 - got a bit of a Bell's Palsy going with the left headlight not opening fully there....always a last detail lol. Such a gorgeous car!
Ditto!
Very cool Daytona tale, fabulous effort.
Great Daytona restoration!
👍👍💪💪👏👏
Amazing this family has 4 wing cars, for Mom & Dad & 2 sons. Great story how this Dad related how it all started at 16.
Saw the preview shot at the beginning - 1 Superbird upside down, a different Daytona with no rear glass (not the one in this video? - tires & rims are different). In Florida! - probably when the last hurricane bypassed south FL and came inland in north FL. And I see the damage to their home too. So sorry to see this.
But with hurricanes in FL for so many decades now (I live in so FL, and always spend hours and hours to protect the home), why was their home so unprepared, and also the cars were not protected?
I hope they had enough home insurance AND classic car insurance!
Mark your commentary and looks was priceless while you watched the couple talk about all their winged warriors. Lmao.
His wife is a keeper for sure. A real mopar woman.
original body work too?
For a woman her age, she definitely filled those jeans out in all the right places in all the right ways....
We had just made it through Ian. We took the eye wall at 140 for about 8 hours. We felt blessed and lucky that the only damage we took was several shingle tabs. A couple of days later; still running on generator power, I saw the story and the picture of this car on it's roofin front of their house. I cried my eyes out. I could never have a car like that and am happy for those that can. I am ecstatic that it was restored. I saw it a couple of weeks later going up 75 on a roll back and was scared to death it was going to the insurance yard to be junked.
The winged cars should be classified as art and Mark Wormer and his team considered MOPAR Michelangelos. When I was 14 years old I remember sitting in the stands of Dover Downs in Delaware..."The Monster Mile". On that day Richard Petty drove to victory lane in a Plymouth Superbird. Also in the race were Buddy Baker in a Dodge Daytona (driving for Petty Enterprises), Bobby Isaac and several others who drove winged cars. I loved those cars and still do. A side note: A few years ago my brother told me that during the 1960s, while spending the summer with relatives at their home in Michigan, my uncle, a Chrysler Executive, had one of the Chrysler Turbine cars at his house for evaluation. To my understanding, there were only 52 of the Turbine concept cars that were ever built making it even more rare than the winged Daytonas & Superbirds.
Why a show about restoring a classic car keeps getting interrupted by the hosts personal sob story??
In 1980 a friend of mine had traded in his 340 Duster for a 1970 Charger. Out of the blue he showed up in front of my house with the Charger and waved me out to the car. The very first thing I noticed was on the hood scoop 440 Magnum! Never heard of that but the name sounded wicked. Once I got in for the test drive he said put your seatbelt on.. I laughed and said "uh huh", then he repeated put your seatbelt on! So I did, and when he punched it I thought I was going to end up in the back seat as it took my breath away. That was the fastest car I'd ever been in... what a great memory. Also had what they called back then a His and Her Automatic shifter. One side auto and the other side with shift. (Slapstick)
Your charger picture, what happened to the front passenger wheel? You guys do a great job! I learn so much from watching your show, you go into details that many would miss.
You guys did an amazing job on this car!! The 2 winged cars that were in the hurricane belong to the same owner. The orange Super Bird went for a swim, not the Daytona in this video.
I saw the video of the Super Bird taken apart, didn't look like the kind of job Graveyard Carz would put out.
the Superbird is still being restored at it being restored a Magnum Auto Restoration in Chicago The Daytona is still in the shape it is Both cars were on display at Mecaum both cars were sold to Tony S. Sorry but this is not the hurricane cars nor is graveyards cars involved in the restoration It take longer then 2 month to restore the cars
@@jcerullo5015 I was only pointing out the completely misleading title of the video! The title states: Hurricane Daytona was just restored by Graveyard Carz. IT WAS NOT, the cars on the thumbnail were not in this video, only the owners and they talked about them. It makes no difference who owns them now or where they are, the title is just wrong and misleading!
I'll be following the restoration of the Super Bird and I think it'll be as nice as any out there. That shop just doesn't have a network backing.
@@DarellEby 100% with you Darell. I get that allot of what gets put out is for show, but this episode was played before with at least a couple of other titles and mebbe a little different editing but mostly the same material.
I WOULD have thought that some mention of the hurricane cars would have been part of this post,,, but,, Mark's getting more like Tony I guess.
@@jcerullo5015there not in Chicago actually we are about 2-1/2 hours from Chicago in La Salle, Illinois. I don’t know the guys but I did run parts to them while I worked for Oreilly’s back in 2017.
@@BrandonSchumacher9519 I was just about to make the same comment until I saw yours. Yes, the La Salle-Peru area is where the real wing-car restoration specialists operate, out in the beautiful midwest's farmlands.
All you have to do is mention "Illinois" and most people immediately think of the big city with all the idiotic crime.
The petty jealousy and pity party part of the story I can really do without. That's why I watch other shows before graveyard cars. At some point the annoying part that's supposed to be self deprecating, really is annoying.
Yeah, this is my first time and last time watching this channel. He must be a real blast at a party.
@@jimbeller7948 woooosh
Its called irony....
No shit, that guy is totally full of himself but lacks genuine confidence and modesty, along with his victim narrative paints a picture of a grandiose narcissist. I won't be watching any more of this toxic dynamic.
S.Florida resident and I saw those cars and wanted to cry!!
What a beautiful car from the start!!!!!!
I would love to see Mark build a tribute to his old Charger. Something for himself and it was a cool car. Not a trailer queen, but a driver.
Love seeing my car on your show
3:53 first time around I read that as "Chrysler Farts..." thought the dna of this daytona might actually have included mopar fart spray for a sec haha
Probably one of the best episodes I've seen
I had a picture of one from the parking area out in front of the Daytona Speedway while my Father and I were at the 1970 Permatex 300. Tiny Lund = Winner. Got to watch the Superbirds test for the 500 after the 300. I wish I still had all those pics I took that day . I was 12 years old lol.
Those slotted mags are my favorite design of all the slots, they are the ET slotted mags, they are the 15x8.5 on rear and 15x7.5 on from, if you wet sand them with 600 grit and work your way up to 2000 grit and use mothers polish they will look like mirrors, and paint the holes black. I love the slotted mag wheel.
love the pictures of Mark's car with what looks like Michigan 76 flag (bicentennial) plates that I had on my car.
Mark I thought that was your favorite part was to hear how the owner got the car and where. And hey don't feel like the long Ranger all my high school friends were driving mustangs and camaros. I was driving a 62 black Impala in 1974
62 impala is a really nice car even back then and had lots of room for the babes
In my neighborhood as a kid in the 70,s there were so many muscles car with like no miles. They were bought by young men who went Vietnam and never came home there parent would hang on to them as a tribute to there sons.
Awesome restoration.
Love the hellcat platform = simply amazing ❤🎉😊
Great Video, excellent craftsmanship, funny comments and I drove a 75 Pontiac Astra in Highschool in Ontario Rotted out! Never had a girlfriend ... odd? LOL
31:01 Looks like that driver side lamp needs adjusting. Beautiful restoration.
One person who is quoted saying the "coffee can full of rocks" was Bobby Isaac, in literature put out by Chrysler to promote the Daytona at the time. It would have been in the literature from the dealer and, I believe, in some ads that Chrysler ran back in the day (explaining how it might have been in a magazine as well). Of course, the description is so good, others may have said it as well.
Not gonna lie, at the begging of the interview I was thinking " mark bro, I feel you with the tough times growing up, but let them talk" and by the end of their story I was thinking the exact same thing he was about the oncoming traffic.
I felt it pain Mark hearing their story. Imagine getting a brand new Daytona as your first car. Then later in life you have 4 kids so you by another Daytona and 2 superbirds to add to collection so they each get one when you die. I should be so lucky. Good for them though!
Fun fact: The airfoil on the Daytona was a Clark Y airfoil, the same as the Piper Cub. The Daytona's airfoil was upside down to create down force instead of lift.
You guys work good together!
Marks deadpan commentary is very funny, Like Kristin Wiig and Steve Carell at the golden globes.
The polished slots look killer on that.
He was the first person to go 200 mph on a closed course in any form of racing. Not just nascar.
Mark needs to limit his dead father talk. But I did enjoy the rest about the car.
Don't forget that Bobby Allison and Ralph Moody built the Coke Daytona Charger that gave them their first win at Atlanta in 1969 .
After you do a patch panel on a car and the body work is done what do you do with the inside of the repair patch and you dont have acsess to the rear of a panel,i see where you also use a pressure washer on the insides of the car to clean it, what do you do when the water gets in between panels that are spot welded together, you know as well as i do that the water will start the rusting process all over again, that is the only problem i have with the process of the restore, keep up the good work guys.
Why the hell do you have to use clickbait mark ? It's just hard to respect that !!!
I heard Marks little pitty party pissed them both off. I doubt GYC will be doing the hurricane rebuild. Serves you right Worman. Grow up.
Sackup, your not the only one to quit school for your family. It's life
Mark smells like Irish Spring☘
The stance is perfect
not a comment but a question I own a 1970 dodge challenger 440 the steering feels loose any thing I can check or do to make it where it doesn't feel so loose thanks
31:00 him saying everything works great but the headlights work like shit lol
I am trying to understand the context here. He builds cars that back in the 70's were relatively cheap to own but now worth, in many cases, hundreds of thousands of dollars. We did not all grow up like the couple that own this car, I know I certainly did not, but to watch the commentary from the builder of this car was very unsettling. I don't understand what he is trying to acheive here. Don't think I want to subscribe if this is what I have to listen to.
Just when I think my 2021 Challenger 345 Hemi is a big car.
Did you pickle inside of that Wing to stop the corrosion ? I know it is an aircraft process, but it stops aluminum corrosion.
I've really enjoyed the "Graveyard Carz" videos up to this point (I've been watching the episodes in a random, hit-and-miss order). Mark's cloying self-pity in this one, though, was really off-putting -- annoying to the point where it will be some time before I come back to this series. Y'know, Mark, you're not the only person who lost a parent in your high school years, you're not the only person who wasn't a "spooner," you're not the only person who had to struggle with adult emotions as an adolescent. But we don't use a nationally syndicated television program along with a You Tube channel and a Facebook page to piss and moan about it. Nor do we resent, forty years later, that back in the day some people had it better than we did. Time to grow up, Mark. I'll be back when you do....
OH NO!!! Problems for extremely rich people with FANTASTIC insurance.....yeah, this is not relatable.
Very nice!
Click bait or what? Where's the tragedy? Nice car got restored, and the video ends.
Daytona on the beach is red with a white stripe. Daytona in video is orange with a black stripe. Nice misleading title.
to think they were restored in 2 month yet some people think theses are the real cars in the hurricane There being restored in Chicago by the new owner
That is the same guy that was at Marks. The Hemi orange Daytona that Mark did for him and his other Superbird were not there at the time, it / they survived. A little misleading but not completely.
God bless all hopefully all are ok
Mark is funny and dang smart , don't change sir , btw , 70 Sport Satelite 383 hp loaded , some day
The difference between the journeyman painter and the true master lies in the ability to see, define, match and scratch build complex glamour colors on todays cars . An understanding that far surpasses the perils of the tamorism affect.
For example : the journeyman knows the color he mixed by formula doesn't match. It has 7 toners, including a green. But when he tries to fix it by using the formula toners it fails.
BUT the master knows that the actual car was painted in the EU using a formula that contains 13 toners.. Where a blue and a yellow was used instead of a green.
So he adds the proper yellow to the journeyman's color and then it matches.
When the paint company say's to never deviate from the formula, they are referring to the 95% of journeymen, not the master.
I'm pretty sure Mark wants a pity party
He's a complete pity party all by himself. His reaction in this episode has put me off of the entire series....
Hello, I was told by a great friend of mine that the rubber between the car and nose on a Superbird was not put on at the factory. He said if you ever see one at a car show and it has the rubber gasket. It is not an original car. Can you look up and verify this for me? Thanks, Jeff
MARKS NOSE STICKS OUT MORE THAN THE SUPERCHICKENS !.
where is the Daytona that was flipped in Florida?
"Bamf Bamf Bamf! yea MOPAR baby! Fun stuff!"
was the replaced nose cone still a factory OEM part?
I once saw one of these bohemiths on a farm for sale for 5k and i passed it up. I was too busy looking to buy their 1970 El Camino Lol.
The fact that the owners have four explains a little why two of them where left outside during a hurricane. Still....
Watching Mark listen to their story cracked me up.
Mark topaz was also a mercury product. Topaz was the same as a ford tempo. So either name would be great name
What happened to George? the guy that did most of the RxR of the rusted out panels,he did a super job with whatever he worked on.
The Super Bird was at MCACN this past november.
Put Mark I would love to know why you did over talk them was this a joke? Did they totally do something wrong to you or what exactly happened there? I know you couldn’t just do that because you didn’t like them, so what’s the story?
