- Here is the remake to Sara's song "Return to the Sea". This time I used DVD footage and the Greek dub was added. This scene comes from episode 35.
The Serbian dub changed the song's title to "Duboko More"(Deep Sea). The Italian dub used a replacement song called "Assoluto Amore"
PS: My favorite version of this part of the song is the Serbian dub. I personally think the voice fit her age best and she kept up with the lyrics pretty well. And, of course, the Italian dub gets a special mention for their song. Despite the lyrics being pretty much the exact opposite of the original song, I love it and it's one of my personal favorite songs made for an anime dub.
It makes me laugh how in the japanese version Sara has such a high pitched voice and yet in almost every other version she's an alto XD

I love the "darkness"/"bitterness" of the Japanese version/lyrics. There is also nothing "sweet" or "soft" about her voice there. The words came out strong and sharp, almost "stabbing". For me, the Japanese version conveyed well how Sarah's perception of love became jaded and twisted after her lover "abandoned" her. A scorned woman, no doubt.

The Serbian dub will forever be my favorite, obviously It can't be everyone's since everyone grew up with their own versions! Just like me! This song and every other that was dubbed to my language made such an impact to my and my peers' childhoods. We knew every lyric to every song and would sing it at the top of our lungs on school trip bus rides and in the hallways of the school. Every girl and every guy, when it came to these songs no one had any shame busting their airways singing a high pitched love song! These memories are so precious, and in sure every single one of you has similar ones that make your version special to you!

I persobally think the greek one nailed it much better because she sounded more sorrowful and expressive and the voice overall suited her character perfectly.
For all the flaws this franchise may have, you have to admit the songs are rad (especially the antagonists because villains always have to have the best songs, lol)

Serbian is really the best. Not because it's my native language, cause the voice and words suits Sara's feelings. It describes how much she loved Taro and that their break up torn her apart and she doesn't want to love anymore. At the end she says: Kad bi, samo znao, da još bi sve sa tobom ja da delim... Only if you knew that i still want to share everything with you... Well, translation might not be the best, but you get it. Someone in comments typed the lyrics. I still adore Sara's song after all these years :)

Japanese is the best. I love also the Italian version, but the theme is very different.
Italian varsion sound good but the person Who voice acted her sound somehow too happy and voice is soft(is preety voice just is too difrent from her(personality) she is more upset and sad then happy)

Even if it's hated the Portuguese one is my favorite, it has a more mysterious and ghostly feel to it compared to the other versions. I also really liked the Japanese, Greek, Serbian and Italian( it feels too happy and out of place tho).

Honestly only Serbian Greek and Italian sound awesome to me. Hebrew is not THAT bad and all others are terrible to me. Sorry if you guys like them, but i hate all this singers expect Serbian,Greek and Italian.
My favorites are: Japanese (it's Original), Greek (like the language), Hebrew (like the voice), Serbian (it's my language so I understand what she says :) and it's a great voice for her) and Italian (it's unique and different). I don't like Portuguese (echo killed it) and French (It's beautiful language, but i just feel like it didn't fit with this song or they didn't try hard enough). Anyway, great video HikaYagami.

They did but nothing was done with it. So I don't know if they let the license expire or Toei didn't like how 4Kids was handling their other shows and took the rights away (Toei decided to dub it themselves with the help of Blue Water Studios).
BTW, there was an English dub of Mermaid Melody done by ADV but it was never released publicly (they said it was used for other countries to dub off of.).
Best is European Portuguese, I may be biased but to me it sounds the best by far

It is from Taiwan, some words are in Taiwanese. I grew up watching this show with my cousin, in Taiwan. It's also been broadcast on a Taiwanese channel....
It aired in Taiwan and it was dubbed there but it's Mandarin spoken in Taiwan (both languages are spoken there). I've seen plenty of Taiwanese and it doesn't sound like this.
Well technically the phrase" 歐巴桑 "is used in both Japanese and Taiwanese, but it is considered Taiwanese. It means "old lady"
Hmmm...it wasn't? Maybe just not in the original lyrics, but when I watched it, that phrase was used in the anime...I don't know. Why don't we just say it was dubbed in Mandarin and it aired in Taiwan.

@@giovannicarlo8190 l'Italia si è sempre arrangiata in tutti e per tutto, a differenza di questi che hanno pagato immagino una bella cifra per avere le canzoni originali, l'Italia ha almeno avuto il coraggio di fare qualcosa di diverso, I testi delle canzoni sono superiori alle originali, e ti posso dire che nel resto del mondo invidiano parecchio le canzoni italiane, così come qualunque altra sigla italiana di un'anime giapponese, fino agli 90 quei vergognosi dei Francesi, Spagnoli e Tedeschi, pagavano i diritti per avere alcune sigle italiane nei loro paesi, e non sempre destinate allo stesso anime, per fortuna poi Telecinco che collegava questi paesi anche all'italia hanno chiuso i battenti, quindi i sfigati hanno dovuto farsi il c**** da soli per fare delle canzoni proprie, oppure compravano le sigle americane, e ancora una volta poi a morire di invidia perché l'Italia con le sigle belle e loro uno schifo totale.
I'm not a huge fan of this anime but this song is really worth wile. My favourites would be Serbian and Hebrew, they all sound exactly the way I wound imagine Sara to sound and they both sound very emotional and touching. Especially the Hebrew one OMG, she really touched me here with how broken she sounds! Am I the only who thinks that her Japanese voice doesn't fit her? It's too high pitched for a character like her, if Junko Noda would have voiced her like she did with Zakuro from Tokyo mew mew, it would have been perfect. I also don't like Spanish and Portuguese. The Portuguese one has a very weird way of singing and the Spanish one has a very old, lifeless touch to it, as if she was a 75 year old grandmother saying her last words! Anyways, great video!

Yeah. The US division of PonyCanyon recently changed their copyrights for the videos. Those that were blocked are now changed to them being monetized. Whenever my internet connection becomes more stable, I'll re-upload the other videos.

I'm one year late, but it has to do with phonetic complexity (how easy the words can be pronounced) and how fast it takes to create a sentence.
Both Spanish and Japan are both on the same level in terms of how words are pronounced and how fast the language is spoken. As a result, the Spanish version mirrors the Japanese version quite well in terms of tempo.
