Fun fact: I literally went through the same thing with my family but the hive was 4 feet above my bed. They are very loud and can in fact sound spooky, especially at night. When the beekeeper came up to remove the hive, I was vindicated for how much I complained about the loud noise because I had 100lbs of beehive above my head.
