Great video mate & quite a few I’m actually not that familiar with! I’ve never heard ‘Ahab’! I have heard ‘Firespawn’ & what I heard sounded brilliant… but I don’t own anything by them… yet! ‘False’ is a masterpiece… absolutely love that record! Always good to see a video from you chief!🤘🏻
Those were unusual picks for Ahab and Swallow The Sun favorites indeed. For me what comes to mind is one my favorite albums ever - Motorhead's second "Overkill"
The Ahab one was the first I ever heard by them and it's stuck ever since. Swallow the Sun, for me has their best songs on that album. Overkill is a brilliant album. Still a classic for me 🤘🍻💀
Awesome list Liam, glad to say I’ve a few of these..love the two Below albums, Gorefest are awesome Forgot I had that Gorephilia record, gonna spin it this morning Still haven’t any Mortician in my collection for some reason…Nathan sent me one of the Firespawn albums, it’s great, I need to get the other 2 Excellent video Mate , really enjoyed this one 🤘💀
False is a very special album for me, it was one of the first ‘underground’ death metal albums I bought back in late 1992, after being blown away by The Glorious Dead on the Death is Just the Beginning 2 comp. Hearing that song kick off the album immediately takes me back to that time! Good to see some love for Beyond Belief. Rave the Abyss just shades it over the debut for me, but I missed the accordion 😉
Excellent list here Liam. These are all collection worthy. Beyond Belief is defiantly underrated and over looked. Gorefest - False is outstanding. Saw them on this tour , still have the shirt and all these years later it still fits me. Here are some 10 sophomore releases that I also find essential. Slayer - Hell Awaits Entombed - Clandestine Autopsy - Mental Funeral Paradise Lost - Gothic Obituary - Cause Of Death Eternal Champion - Ravening Iron Hooded Menace - Never Cross The Dead Carcass - Symphonies Of Sickness Astral Doors - Evil Is Forever Bathory - The Return
That shirt must be worth a fair bit now haha. I see those old DM tour shirts go for silly money. Some top picks there mate. Love that Hooded Menace album, was originally in this list but went more obscure haha. Cheers for watching my friend 🤘🍻💀
Everytime you show one of those Firespawn albums I go on the hunt! Those things never surface on US distros. Same with the Beyond Belief stuff. The Below album art is impressive! I need to check those guys out. As always it is video that has me going back over my list. Always great to see you and I love this idea… I may follow your example and do one of my own. Cheers
I think you should do your own! Be great to see what you'd pick. Cheers for watching boss man. Next vinyl update from me has a big hefty stack courtesy if yourself 🤘🍻💀
Aye they're all great, debut is my fave and still one I need to get on vinyl. Was lucky enough to be on the bill of their last ever show. Proud moment to witness them live. Cheers for watching 🤘🍻💀
Killer picks mate. Ive been meaning to grab that Mortician album for years but never got round to it. Not familiar with Firespawn, if LG is involved then i definitely gonna have to give them a listen. Cheers mate 👍
Any video that shows Mortician rates highly in my mind. Some quality releases on show here, boss. I have the 3rd Firespawn album and definitely need the other two. The description of Beyond Belief has me intrigued. Gorephilia kick arse. Cool video, Liam 🤘
Haha I used to not get them at all but with old age comes wisdom and all that jazz... Beyond Belief is well worth having mate, you'll love them. Cheers for watching mate 🤘🍻💀
I loved your selection! I've learned a lot of bands I've never heared of either. And love that you mentioned Swallow the Sun, they are an excellent band.
I like to pull out the less mentioned bands as it makes it more fun for the viewer. Glad you found something new on here. Swallow the Sun are fantastic as well as the side projects they are in. 🤘🍻🤘
Great picks here mate. I was at that Damnation Festival that year. Missed Bolt Thrower as I had to get the train, but I also opted for Ahab over CC. Unbelievable band. Divinity of Oceans is outrageously underrated
Great stuff mate Morticians Chainsaw Dismemberment and Hacked up are absolute blasts to spin, Ahab also only have there debut at the moment. Awsome list man! 🍻🍻🍻🍻
Some stellar picks here Liam. I only have the first two Firespawn albums, never realised there was a third one, I'll have to hunt a copy down. Had that Gorephilia on my wantlist for aeons. Great cover art too. Classic Gorefest record too. Props for including Vallenfyre. Fucking loved those guys, caught them live once too. Great stuff as usual, Liam!!
3rd one is a belter so well worth hunting down. I forget to spin that Gorephilia so often as I usually grab the one after or Gorefest as it's in the 'G' section haha. Aye love Vallenfyre, was on the bill for their last ever show so a special moment for me. Cheers for watching mate 🤘🍻💀
Haha it was on offer to me so I couldn't resist it. I got it more for the cover art work at the time haha! It's a fun album though that certainly grown on me over the years. Cheers for watching mate 🤘🍻💀
Great sophomore album picks Liam! I need to check out some Mortician, Evile did a covered them on Hell unleashed, that's where I first discovered them. Firespawn sounds cool, I should enjoy them. Same goes for Gorephilia, they sound right up my street! I have listened to bits of Gorefest, I think I've heard some songs from that album, I need to listen to them more. Anything with Halford on vocals is an instant NO for me! 😂😂 Great vid man 🤘🏻🤘🏻😊 Some great Metal sophomore albums for me include; Cavalera Conspiracy - Blunt Force Trauma Mastodon - Leviathan Cannibal Corpse - Butchered at Birth Testament - The New Order Obituary - Cause of Death
Cheers Josh, ah man Halford is the metal god! Wayyy better than old Bruce. Mastodon 2nd and Obituaries are great. Prefer the 1st Cavalera album, remember when that came out and it was all over the metal press. Even had front man from Gojira in it so think that helped.
@TheDeathDoomMetalHead You're welcome mate! Ah ok that's fair enough man, can't stand Halford honestly, hate his vocal style. I don't mind Bruce, but not my favourite either. Yes, the Mastodon and Obituary are awesome! That's fair enough man, I really like the first Cavalera album too! It's the first one I heard of theirs and it's got my favourite song Sanctuary on it! And yes, it has Joe from Gojira on it too! I just prefer Blunt Force Trauma as it's more Thrashy and groovy 😁😊🤘🏻

Great list, Liam! I recently shouted you out near the end of my latest video as an example of a UA-camr who can talk about problematic/controversial artists while fully being aware that the artists are terrible people. The video got a lot of views and was, uh, very heavily downvoted by NSBM fans. Beware of the comments I got on it if you get to watch it: it was a complete shitshow down in the comments section.
Yes i caught that video today as you may know now. Was an interesting topic. I think though i'd say it was a success even with the negativity as you certainly got the attention you wanted from it and it all helps your channels reach. 🤘🍻💀
I had heard the album 'Final Bloodbath Session' was one Roger Beaujard actually drums on. I was thinking out loud as that album has a lot of songs from Chainsaw Dismemberment on it.
Oh there's a boat load to choose from. This happened to be a stack of albums i had out so made a video as I enjoy them all. But you are right, you could easily make 3 or 4 lists haha. Cheers for watching 🤘🍻💀
Ah another expert 'metalhead' UA-camr who knows absolutely nothing about the bands he posts and 'likes'...Matte Modin, drummer in Deeds of Flesh?? and live drummer of Necrophobic??? Haha hilarious,um no and no....For starters Necrophobic have had the same drummer,Jockim, since day one mate..... Mortician ' maybe a drum machine on this album ' haha you mean on every album.. hilarious..keep up the good work...
Alright princess calm down, I didn't claim to be an expert, just a fan but you got me on Deeds of Flesh, I meant to say Defleshed so I'll let you have that one, but I'm fairly sure he's their live drummer when the other chap doesn't play. Cheers for watching though, I assume someone out there must appreciate you.. 🥰

Pretty sure all Mortician albums have programmed drums.
I had heard the album 'Final Bloodbath Session' was one Roger Beaujard actually drums on. I was thinking out loud as that album has a lot of songs from Chainsaw Dismemberment on it.
