I bought 1st generation LED's for my 1999 SC2. The rings went bad and I couldn't find a local mechanic to tear down the engine and do the repair. With 272,845 on the odometer I sadly sold my 1999 SC2 to a junkyard. I now have a 2001 SC2 replacement. Your video here of how to remove the dash and remove the instrument cluster has given inspiration to perform the same and replace the incandescent with LED's.
Hey I know this is a long shot, I am new to cars and recently got a Saturn, I don’t understand all the terminology in the owners manual, which fuse is for the dashlights? Mine went out last night and I freaked out for a bit
Thanks Chris for the helpful video. I replace all my bulbs today after a little difficulty with the top of the dashboard, and also, which bulbs go for which part of the instrument cluster. The top of the "U" shape in the center: the very top two are turn signal indicators. The two below that are the inside part of the instrument cluster (high-end speedometer and low end RPM's). The bulb at the bottom of the "U" is the high-beam indicator, which is blue automatically, so I just left a white bulb in there. The two bulbs at the very top, and the two outer center bulbs on the right and left side are also for the instrument cluster. The top right one, below the very top, is the daytime running light indicator, and the one below that is for the fuel gauge. The one below that and to the left (near the very bottom) is for the odometer. The bulb on the far left (when looking at the back) is for the water temperature gauge.
I added annotations indicating just that, but I guess they aren't working. I ended up replacing 4 bulbs....I actually switched clusters with a 2006 Pontiac Torrent. It is plug and play, and looks way better..I transferred the LEDs to it.
No sir, I did not see any annotations--but they would have made all the difference, just like when I found the diagram mapping out which of the ten bulbs go for which component.
I used part number B8.5D-RHP at www.superbrightleds.com , but I had to modify the connections a bit to make them work. I did not actually replace all that I showed in video. I may to a follow up video....I only replaced a few. (in video #4, 10, and Odometer)
UCN Conversions I chatted with superbright and they were telling me to order the B8.4Ds. But you put in 5ds. It's possible they were wrong. What do you think?
So I didn't do a video of the Plastidip, but here are a couple of photos of what I did... s9.postimg.org/gpm5lqo0v/After_LEDs.jpg; s22.postimg.org/sphymk3m9/Dash.jpg

Tip: Using a 6mm socket is perfect to remove the factory bulbs. No wrench needed, just turn by hand.
Looks good. What's the part number of the LED's? I'm thinking about replacing the bulbs in my 02' Saturn.
Thanks for sharing. Great job.
What size bulbs did you get for the cluster? And the odometer one, smd, what size?
There bulb selector is telling me that this part# will not fit a 2001 sl2. Ordered them any way. Just installed them. They work.
