- Ubuntu comes with additional settings to enable to disable updates and choose when to install them in Software And Updates. Linux Mint also comes with this but has Software Sources which is it's own software and updates settings manager. On Debian this is not installed automatically but here is how you can install and enable this. Here is more about Unattended Upgrades:

I like the mouse click sounds, it reminds me my childhood
Good video Andrea. Nice to see you explaining things so well for the viewers.
So nice to see you back on UA-cam!
You are the best Andrea, and use Mate. A match made in heaven❤
You will not belive, but I just asked myself how to enable automatic updates and got this video, thanks!
The package is called Unattended Upgrades which is already installed on Ubuntu and Linux Mint but not on Debian. I still don't know how to enable the third setting in Updates which is greyed out. Maybe Debian only enables security updates in case people accidentally install the unstable updated from Debian Sid. Which would break the stable version.
@@AndreaBorman Thank you!❤
@@AndreaBorman if you set the updates to NEVER check, then there will be nothing to DISPLAY. You are mixing maually and automatically...which does not work. You need to check for updates weekly, monthly, (anything EXCEPT never) then whatever updates are found will be DISPLAYED.
@@shellz831 I don't think that is the reason why the third setting is greyed out. The first two settings is the one that asks how often you want to check for updates. The second setting asks about if or not you want to download or install security updates and the third settings which is the greyed out one is for software updates. Why that is greyed out I don't know. I don't want automatic updates because it will download the updates while I might be working on my computer. So I just want to be notified of updates but I want to chose when to install them. When I was using Windows 7 it had the same settings. So if it was set to automatic updates Windows would install them without even asking. I don't know if it's the same on Linux or not.
Excellent video.
keep it up mam
i dont even use debian, or any debian based distros, but i love your videos, Youre an icon. I also saw u had 0ad installed so i looked at the game and im playing it with a friend, as soon as its finished installing ;3

thank you for the great videos
So relaxing
Yo no actualizo Debian ni android por mucho tiempo, no entiendo para qué actualizan tan rápido (excepto cuando es una actualización de seguridad).
Speak about the aptitude, interface apt command line...
Both Debian and Ubuntu come with Apt and also Aptitude installed. They are both very similar and terminal based. Though Apt has Synaptic as it's graphical package manager. You can also use both in the terminal to install updates with the "sudo apt or sudo aptitude command." One thing I have found is that Aptitude is faster at downloading and installing updates than Apt. So use it sometimes when I update using the terminal.
I doesn't matter if you don't have ubuntu this is synaptic so it is default software manage on debian, debian based distros ,ubuntu and ubuntu based distros.
I know but it's not included in Ubuntu when your first install. Ubuntu comes with Gnome Software Center but you have to install Synaptic yourself. That is easy to do.
non linux related question. can you be my nan?
