Congrats on the car bro, ive got an S5, I didn't know fake exhaust tips existed for S cars. I'm looking to get a 19 used x3 m40i. What is maintenance like in Canada? Anything you don't like about the car?
@@Madnesschannel100 thanks a lot. Mine is a 22 model which came with 3 years free maintenance so I have no idea about the upkeep just yet. I have owned mine for 5 months with almost 5000kms on it, so far I like everything. The only annoying thing is that the contactless autolocking function can sometimes be a bit too sensitive. It can auto lock even while I was just walking around to get my son out from the rear passenger side.
I chose a 2023 X3 M40i over the Audi. The interior quality of the BMW is far superior, as are the external lines. The fake Audi exhausts are a joke. My only BMW negatives are the marginal stock speaker I made the mistake of specifying and the faux rear brake vents. What was BMW thinking with those faux vents? The BMW has great power and still gets 30 mpg on long highway trips.
Bimmer hands down. Audi Q5 feels cheap, BMW much higher quality - very racy feel and pull up game is far superior !! Inline 6, real exhaust, true racing machine !!
I am purchasing the M40. I have driven both. The inside of the Audi minus the virtual gauge is very dated..the iPad plopped on the top is a no go. The M40 handles better on the corners and is a bullet.
Nice choice! I just ordered a X3M40i black , with jet black high performance wheels, red interior, M sport diff, etc. its going to take a while for them to have it build ugh but I’ll have it by Jan or feb. I hope! When did you receive yours?
The BMW is quicker by 1/2 second. In the US, the Audi is more expensive in either regular or sportback. Audi also charges $1500 for navigation, which is ridiculous at this price point.
One very important factor that does not come through in any review such as this is the longer-term reliability. I've owned both and currently own the Audi SQ5 (2021). Many issues with it. Numerous recalls. Numerous repairs needed - within the first 13k miles. So many random occurring electronic / software-related glitches with the Audi. Never any issues with the BMW.
By comparison, I've had my '18 SQ5 for 5 years and 40k miles, and never had a single issue. Recalls were done during scheduled maintenance intervals. I did get a flat tire once, but that's not on Audi.
I have owned a Q5 2.0 for the past 4 years, really loved it overall. Now stepping up to a performance version and just ordered the M40i which hands down wins it overall. The SQ5 is nice but a far second compared with the X3. I drove both several times. The X3 inline 6 is not only a beast, it’s butter smooth and sound great. When adjusting my seating position I have a little more legroom in the X3. The cargo is definitely more spacious in the X3. Looking forward to feel the X3 long term. The Audi comfort and seats are great, never had any pain after long trips, let’s see how the X3 compares long term. I’m going to miss one feature, ventilated seats.
in market for new SUV and been condering between x3 and Q5, test drove both, X3 felt so much sporty and engaging than Q5 and enjoyed it more. Q5 you get more tech/ features for the money, but SQ5 vs X3 M40i, BMW wins hands down.
@@kildli some thoughts for you, with the 2.0 engine the Audi is much more refined with a quieter more luxurious ride, it’s also peppier and comes with mild hybrid, which is handy for in town driving, and has standard all wheel drive, which in the snow and rain drives like on rails and comes with leather seats. If you don’t care about all these extras and don’t mind the louder less refined X3 drive and prefer everyday sportiness then the X3 it’s the way to go.
I prefer the user friendly infotainment system and comfortable seat because I enjoy long drives. Plus, the Audi is VERY tuning friendly, have a spare tire tire, no heavy run flat tires, not a staggered setup tires between front and back, less cost for repairs, tons of aftermarket and performance parts available and easier DIY friendly vehicle due to the large community support
Those settings like the AC and functions can be changed using the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant which you never highlighted in your review. No more need for touching and removing your eyes from the road.
Nice review! I personally picked the Audi specifically for the supreme drive quality. It wasn’t even a competition in terms of that! I also preferred the Audi interior, but again, that was my preference. Whichever you choose though, you’re going to be a very happy driver! 😃
@@vk2jmv Most definitely. The SQ5 is geared toward luxury, and the BMW toward handling. It’s no contest that the BMW is a corner carver. The SQ5 cannot compete there at all. It is however extremely comfortable to ride in. And that’s what I liked about it.
Ive got an S5 of this generation and love it, i'm looking to get an SUV and the BMW looks better and more fun to drive, but i'm not sure if it would be a mistake over the sq5 due to the better seats, tech, quattro, and comfort on the sq5.
@@Madnesschannel100 You really need to go on a test drive to decide for yourself. But they’re really both amazing cars 😃 Just remember that the SQ5 has the same engine as your S5. So it will feel slower. The BMW will be faster than your S5.
As an s Audi owner and a previous bmw rear wheel drive inline 6 owner the bmw driveline and ride wins hands down for me. The Audi won on price as it was significantly less for the cars I was comparing.
What a joke - This review is so biased against BMW - They didn't even mention about Audi's control buttons and swivel wheel removal - Now everything is relying on the touch screen whilst criticising BMW had no AC on / off button! What Audi SQ5 offered isn't on the same level compare to the LCI X3, interior design, material used, driving experience, technology and most importantly the speed. BMW M40i's famous inline 6 is miles ahead than the Audi's single turbo V6
I have and Audi SQ5 2022 prestige special edition and I love it! If you are going on a long road trip then the Audi is the vehicle!! But if you are looking for a bit more exhaust sound and a very small increase in handling then the BMW is for you. The Audi gauge cluster and navigation system is the best of the best, in my opinion. The BMW is $5.000.00 more so if you 😊have money to throw around get the BMW. Happy driving
Why these cars cant be compared with LANDROVER DISCOVERY 110 ? Difender will stand tall if you compare and is more all rounder for the exact same price of these cars. .
I don't think this video is a real comparison. it is more like a spec voicing. The weirdest staff - the cargo capacity of Audi is poorer than X3 due to its shape. I can easily fit 3xCHECK-IN bags into X3 but Audi is a big BIG question.
I think these two clueless dudes need to go back to their day jobs. An SUV that does 0 to 60 in 4.4 is definitely a performance car. All black interiors are cool, you two are just so square.
Had just chosen the 22 X3 M40i over the SQ5 myself. Two deal breakers for Audi: no remote engine start and fake exhaust.
I paid a bit extra to get the real quad-pipe exhaust, so it clearly isn't a deal breaker. :)
@@jfpinero good for you, but most people don’t fancy the idea having to pay $1,800 CAD just to get rid of those fake ones.
Great choice. I love what BMW did with the refreshed X3.

Good point. But my question was why mess with turning on and off A/C in the first place? It’s auto climate is so good, why ever mess with it?
What suspension is in BMW? Sport or adaptive M?
I really like the very well balanced review that you give. Very fintuned pros and cons. 👏👍😀

You may as well have bought a Q5 45 (regular 2.0T) then haha, would've saved on money and gas mileage

Low 4s 0-60 and runs 12s 1/4 mile

Idk about everyone else but the M40i is cheaper than SQ5 and the audi is not selling as well.

BMW has climate control. LOL. No need to turn off A/C. It will maintain the desired temp you put and turn the A/C on and off accordingly.
