I don't know if you found a problem but normally this is a air lock because car heating not on after fluid drained to make sure all air has been purged. Hope thats all it was. Had my tt 7 years no problem's after replacing most plastics.😆
One time, I took my TT into the mountains, and was pretty deep when suddenly the coolant warning came on, and immediately after, steam started escaping from the hood. What happened was the radiator mounts decided to give up so the radiator was leaning back toward the engine, and the fan had rubbed a hole through the upper radiator hose. It was extremely scary because I had no cell service so I had to limp the car down the mountain and then walk several miles to the nearest parts store that had the hose, which was a challenge because it’s a rare part only for the TT 225. The car made it home with a stick I found on the side of the road wedged between the radiator and the fan shroud, zip-tied to a bunch of things so it wouldn’t fall out. Don’t reuse your radiator mounts!!
oh Jeeze, that sounds like a really stressful situation. I am glad to hear the car made it back! I will add checking those mounts to my list of things to check during diagnosis. Thank you for the suggestion and the support.
@@HunterDirection Ya it’s just cuz I’ve had to take my front end off so many times and, just like anything that uses self-tapping fasteners into plastic, they’re going to lose their integrity after so many tightening cycles, no matter how hard I tried to use the same threads and not cut new ones!! So that’s the main problem with the mounts, the actual rubber resilience bushings seem to hold up fairly well, although any rubber can deteriorate as well.
If your water level hasn't drop it could just be the sensor in the reservoir. I know they were a common problem on the vw's and could be the same part. Could also be attributed the altitude change which could have caused an increase in pressure in the system. I see you might be having a lcd display replacement vlog coming up. It doesn't look like a big task to take on. Enjoying the vlogs you are putting out and I'm on the lookout for a mk1 myself. Good luck.
It absolutely could be the pressure. The level did seem low when we were up there, but once I shut the car off to cool and released the pressure it did seem to rise a bit. I had this issue after replacing the reservoir. The sensor wire plug was not fiting as it should. Pushing it hard and problem solved. Hope it’s only this issue for you . It is a cheap reservoir but so white 🤩 ! 😅 Good looking.
You could use the climate control codes to check the coolant temp to double check the actual temp of the engine or coolant. But like some have said the sensor could be acting up.

Love to see the TT videos comin in consistently! I've just recently had my '01 180 roadster totaled in a rear ending. Hoping its a blessing in disguise as im lookin to pick up a 225 quattro soon, but it's hard out here in Eastern WA to find nice examples! Any suggestions on testing out the Haldex system before I pick one up?
Eastern Washington for the win! I completely agree. Not many options out here for a decent price. Finding a 225 would be an awesome deal though. As far as testing the haldex, Depending on the mileage you can see if it's ever been serviced. You should also be able to scan the haldex computer with a nice obd2 scanner to see if that is working as well. If AWD is really gone, then you will notice it spins it's front wheels while test driving haha. Thank you for the support!

How you can rate the improvement on these end link upgrades? And the locking pin that you used @ 2:35 is something you need to purchase or is it in the car already?
I really like your videos and can get ideas from them. I have a golf mk 4, so basically the same car. Like said the coolant sensor can go bad, should be it, if you have enough water in the system. If not, check the thermostat housing, mine was cracked after overheating (reaching 120 °C or 250 °F) due to broken fans.
its hard to see in the vid, but looks like there is no fluid in the reservoir? somebody mentioned that it could be due to the high altitude? How was the coolant level when you got back home? Good video, I can see you are putting a lot of effor in to improving the quality of videos. You have coma a long way since the early episodes. Keep it up :)

Sounds like the "lowest bidding vender" that Audi used for their dash gauges strikes again. I've been told that my pod in my 02 TT is non-repairable because it falls within a problematic serial # group. A new one is $1300. These gauge pods are so bad that there should have been a class action against Audi. Almost criminal in poor quality. It's amazing that the engineering and style design is so good, while the presence of ridiculous plastic cooling flanges, dishonest dash gauges, and the inability to unlock the Haldex so that the car can be towed ( and it will be towed) are just a few of the glaring failures of the bean-counters who took a good design and chipped it down to this crap happening. Sorry, I had to vent.

That sensor could probably be bad mine usually acted up upon start up in cold weather, TT’s are super weird 😂

So how was the actual upgrade?
Try talking with Cluster Modz Co about your dash. He does repairs and replacing the screen. Not sure about TT's but I know he does them for b5s!
