The Xduoo XD-05 Pro maty be the one to purchase. It features swappable Op-Amps and 3 different DAC boards with an R2R board in the pipeline. The smallish form factor and versatility of modular components to significantly change the sound profile, makes this a compelling option.

a banger from xduoo. You're getting a lot of amp for $500. Nice smooth sound with good bass dynamics, great pairing with my lcd2 and verite c. Tube rolling to 12au7 mullards, I noticed better bass response and a bit warmer sound signature.

I got the TA 604, BUT I wonder if their other amps sound much different.
They sound exactly the same as any transparent solid state even stock tube rectifier and tube amplication.

Nice review. Having never heard a class a amp or a tube amp, and not even an r2r dac, I wonder if a unit like this is worth it for me with an arya organic to listen to metal and rock, if I should instead get an hd600 and a feliks audio amp and a gustard r26... Or just be happy with my good solid state stuff. It's hard having to blind buy items like these
I was with you until you said Feliks Audio. Pair that with a good dac and you're golden.
I find it amusing they used leds to mimic a 7 segment display. It looks nice but a bit weird with the tubes on one side and a giant metal box on the other.
Assuming the TA-22 you reviewed had been just as noiseless (maybe you got a bad sample), this or that one? I'd feed this one with a Mojo 2
Sadly, I don't have a Mojo to test with. To be honest, I prefer the ease of an all-in-one so I would probably choose the TA-22. But then I would miss that sweet VU meter. 😄
I know what you mean. Takes me back. Although I understand it's linked to the output so with very Insensitive headphones it may well be hitting the stop quite often and with sensitive headphones it might barely move at all. Hopefully works for most though. Thanks!
