    I’ve just used the Walldogs with metal clips inside mini trunking on a project. Found that drilling a 4mm hole instead of the recommended 5mm worked best. Really fast when you get the hang of it.

    Have you tried the d-line conduit clips? They are great bits of kit, not only are they fire safe but they are almost invisible when fitted. So another more aesthetically pleasing than saddles.

    You could use all round band

    Does 18th edition also apply to data/comms cable and are these included to premature collapse? I’d guess it does but can not fine anything to confirm that cat5/6/7 fibre or ADSL cables cover this.
    Thanks in advance

    Do you think the cable clipped to the truss would not just fall onto the plasterboard ceiling?

      @efixx  4 роки тому

      There was no plasterboard, open trusses.

    i watched an ex fireman/electrician on sparky ninja, and he made an interesting comment, he said upon entering a room with a suspended ceiling, they automatically pulled it down. That is a complete metal structure, well the frame, so even if there were cables resting on the ceiling they should be ok. And its hardly premature if they are pulling it down.

      in Australia at least, it is forbidden to lay any cables (mains, cat, fibre, or coax) across a drop ceiling, they must be securely independently supported and the supports can not be attached to the same support for the drop ceiling itself. But I also dont think they pull the drop ceiling down here

    I wouldn't use the spring clips personally, as I wouldn't say they are the best out there and they don't sit central in the trunking. So you can't stick quite a few cables or a couple of large cable in there, like a bit of 10mm T&E or large singles.

    1st one when you used the Schneider clips, could of used the Dewalt Electrician Stapler got the spacing on it etc

    I like the cable-safes, but then that's probably an age thing, cant beat the plastic coated strap band for other areas or the dewalt stapler .. but then that's pricey if not used much

    Could you not use all round band to clip the group of existing cables

    Yep dewalt wall dogs are dreadful and expensive. I have used allround band in mini trunking and on walls and ceilings were the f clips get used works as well as what was shown in the video.

    As a construction warrior of 54 years, in this time I have witnessed a fatality (Electrical sub station) a few near misses with some very serious flash burns. Listening and looking at this video I just wonder are we loosing the plot when it come to risk assessments, ie, with tangling cables that could effect the performance of the fire service. Love to here comments. BR Valentine Shanley. PS is the Woke brigade creeping into construction ?

    simply use all round band instead of having to constantly stock up on all these clips.. One reel would last ages

    • @efixx
      @efixx  3 роки тому

      Lasts ages but takes longer

    The dewalts are shite I’ve only found they work well in concrete and even then over tighten them slightly and they strip the thread they’ve cut in the material. I still have a box from 2yrs ago kicking around the van 😂

      I use wall dogs all the time and once you get the knack very little can touch them for the application.
