It is an extremely tough journey also in Italy. Once I was told by a veteran camera operator from Rome that he is the only one, out of a bunch of other film school students, who eventually made his way into the industry and a stable income. Everyone else is doing some other jobs. It was quite telling example. Thanks for sharing and good luck.

Hey ruibrai. Yeah it's the sad reality of how hard the film industry is. I graduated from film school in 2014 with 80ish students in my class, and I'd say there's less than 10 people now who are still working in the industry. The rest just realised it wasn't the career path for them to pursue long term.

I want to create a series, the script is nearly done, the audiencs speaks, if you’ve filmed your film/series and create a fuss about it thru social media could that help it onto tv?

It really is 😔 Unless you can build up contacts in different areas of your country. But that in itself takes a bunch of extra time and effort to do. And you’ll be travelling a lot away from home which may become more annoying than enjoyable to do.

Excellent message. Excellent production. One point I would add are the new diversity/inclusion directives from the streaming gatekeepers. If you don’t have an X or a Y in your shoot, you don’t get considered. That puts an even heavier burden on independent/low budget productions. Then again, I could see why this might not be a topic to include in your video :)

Thanks Kfir. And yeah interesting point to bring up. As someone who falls under the 'BAME' category, (Black, Asian, and minority ethnic; for context I'm mixed race), I would feel uncomfortable getting selected to work on a production for any reason other than because of my skillset as a filmmaker and person.
Anyone feel free to chime in if you agree or disagree; curious to hear other perspectives about this topic.
