I had an expired Thai license which meant I had to to the whole process again - reflex/colour test, five hours of videos, online knowledge test ) 49/50 and then came back the next day for a riding test - Cost - B120 for two years.

ok so how did you not have to go to the DLT to have your health test and have your photo taken for the licence? also whay did you pay so much? at the DLT its about 600B for a renewal and takes about 90 minutes start to finish
I don't know how they get around the health checks As for the costs I decided to use an agent because I had a previous booking at the test centre and missed the appointment for some reason The centre is a bit out of the way and at the time I didn't have my own transport Also I'd have had to sort immigration and the health checks So even though I knew the process was easy it was still going to be a pain So that's why I used an agent
@@cheapdavetravels problem being that according to the DLT (does not matter what the agent says) if you dont apply in person the licence is not legal. had a lot of these agents advertising on Facebook and instagram and the DLT are trying to shut them down. as for appointments? most offices here in Bangkok dont do appointments. you just go in first thing with your QR code from the online test. from there it takes about 90 minutes i think i paid 605B and now it does not matter what office you go to as unlike visas they are all connected via a central system. happened Dec 22nd. just dont want a fellow ferrang getting in the dung
I got international driving licence in England It cost £5 from the post office It was only for 1 year so that had expired I only had the old paper driving licence and the agent said she couldn't use tha I showed her the expired international licence and she said that would be ok The cost for me to get car and bike licence was 5000 baht If I had used a plastic UK licence tje cost would have been 6000 baht
Also, my understanding is that even with an IDL, if you are staying in the country for three months or more, the Thais prefer you to have a local license.
Ok misunderstanding If you have a driving licence from your home country first you have to go to test centre to book appointment a few days before you have to go to immigration and gat proof of residence then to most chemist that will give you driving licence medical On the day you have to watch 2 hour video emergency stop and traffic lights test then a short ride around circuit and your done Better to hire an agent They do all immigration and medical stuff they pick up and drop off to test centre and hotel makes the whole process very easy
I’ve done most of that already to get my Thai car licence, would like to know what to do to add m/c lic as well .I’ve never had a m/c licence before in any country .

No need for proof of residence any more. I got mine on a 90 day tourist visa and my Thai partners home address.
You might have got lucky as there still asking for it here in Pattaya

Do you have to be perm resident?
You need proof of residence from immigration medical and thats about it

In England I think you can apply for motorbike licence 16 years and over to ride up to 125cc
If you want a bigger bike then you have to take a test
