My complaint with XG is that you could just hit your turbos and let go of the controllers and the walls would bounce you back to stay on course. I didn't find any fun due to that anymore. In Mario Kart for example, you'd be knocked into a pond or elsewhere and had to get picked up, I didn't feel the punishment in XG which killed the sense of a good course design.

Road Rash 64 is awesome. You can jam your weapon into the spokes of the opponents wheel and make them go flying. I never see people do it in their videos but I use to do it all the time just for laughs. If you do it with super bikes on the straight track, they would fly so damn far.

Excite Bike 64 is an amazing game. Once the SLIDE and TURBO mechanics are mastered, there is nothing you can't do with those bikes. Perfect landings off huge doubles and triples, even nail awesome short cuts by jumping high up and landing on a steel beam then riding across it and back down to the track. Best arcade motocross game ever.
Road Rash 64 is a classic. Playing with 4 players is prob a top 10 N64 multiplayer setup. That OST is awesome too. I had never heard of The Mermen before this game but when i checked out their 2000 album it blew me away!

Sweeping each others front wheels was always fun until my gf gave me a dead leg if she'd been doing particularly well 😂
Cool video! Not much of a biker myself, but I did enjoy Excitebike 64 as a kid, though not my favorite racing game. Something I've been meaning to ask you Glenn: where do you buy your Nintendo 64 games? I've tried using Ebay or Amazon but the prices are really inflated, plus way to many Chinese knock offs.
@@n64glennplant ah, did not know that, Ebay is what I use as well. I know you like to play on original hardware, so I was unsure if you had a complete N64 collection of every game
I’ve owned every game at some point but not all at the same time. I lost interest in collecting when prices got silly a while back even for the most basic games
I really enjoyed Road Rash 64 as a kid. Still enjoy it today, but only on an emulator that can force the frame rate to a consistent 60 fps. It's much more enjoyable with the performance issues ironed out. The gameplay still cracks me up sometimes lol EDIT: Forgot to mention that Extreme-G's performance can be vastly improved as well. As far as I know, there are no gliches that occur in Road Rash 64 and Extreme-G due to the frame rate setting of the emulator, unlike Conker's Bad Fur Day... There's a nasty glitch somewhere on the "great mighty poo" part.
That's okay if you don't use emulators. There are definitely pros and cons to them. Hopefully someday there won't be any cons. If that day comes, I suppose it would be a cool idea to make some content involving N64 emulation? That'd be interesting to see.
@@summersetbanjo7440 I got a GameCube on launch day and love the console, I just have way more interest and nostalgi for n64 so maybe a select few GameCube titles I’d cover

Glenn your take over Road Rash reminds me that game received an High Resolution Texture Pack. Off course this would not run on original hardware, but I ask myself If playing with these Graphic improments makes the experience better overall. Did you consider make a series about these homebrew "improvment packs" for N64 games. My computer was not strong enought for playing these games with High res Textures (and I admit playing N64 with anything but a N64 Joystick is always a mission) but maybe is not the case for you. Have you tried them? Obs: we saw MSU mods for SNES and Mega Drive for playing cartridge games with cd quality soundtrack. I Hope some Genius Discover How to do the same with N64, Can you imagine Zelda or Mario with cd arranged soundtracks?
@@n64glennplant oh Boy, looks like we're on the same boat. I don't know If you use everdrive 64, but maybe some homebrews become intersting content. Its always Fun thinking Of stuff Else we could play on our original hardware.

I'm an absolute fan of XG-2, the drum & bass soundtrack and the speed sensation when you manage to race without hitting the borders. With VeloFire you can break the sound barrier in many tracks without using turbos. Excitebike 64 was gold as well, I remember making long straights with a big jump in the track editor so that the cpu would always fly off the track. I think N64 mag said Excitebike 64 was the only moto x game worth buying, and I always just trusted their reviews to save money so I never even bothered with any others but I don't think they were wrong to do so in that regard, and it's still a game I occasionally go back to. Sweeping each others front wheels was always fun until my gf gave me a dead leg if she'd been doing particularly well 😂
Yeah like many good Nintendo games there’s a great deal of replay ability with excite bike 64
I still love Road Rash 64 and the OST
You look like a young Chuck Norris
I always got a laugh out of the motorcycle riding skeletons from castlevania 64.
Very good shout!
Great video man!
Thnks Ivo 💪🏼
Will you make a N64 collection video, of stuff and games you have? 🙋🏽♂️
I did years ago when I was a collector
The best bike racing games here are def Excitebike, Top Gear Hyperbike and Road Rash 64
Amen to that
I don’t collect anymore but eBay would always be my go to
@@n64glennplant ah, did not know that, Ebay is what I use as well. I know you like to play on original hardware, so I was unsure if you had a complete N64 collection of every game
I’ve owned every game at some point but not all at the same time. I lost interest in collecting when prices got silly a while back even for the most basic games
@@n64glennplant I agree, I don't blame ya, prices are ridiculous, that's why I'm not a collector lol. Really enjoy your videos!
Luckily the 3do Road Rush got a SS and PS1 release as well..il get extreme g next month...fantastic racer..best of the series probably
Yeah I think so too, took a dive like most acclaim franchises on GameCube
@@n64glennplant and ps2 xD
I really enjoyed Road Rash 64 as a kid. Still enjoy it today, but only on an emulator that can force the frame rate to a consistent 60 fps. It's much more enjoyable with the performance issues ironed out. The gameplay still cracks me up sometimes lol
EDIT: Forgot to mention that Extreme-G's performance can be vastly improved as well. As far as I know, there are no gliches that occur in Road Rash 64 and Extreme-G due to the frame rate setting of the emulator, unlike Conker's Bad Fur Day... There's a nasty glitch somewhere on the "great mighty poo" part.
Interesting, I don’t use emulators myself but sure someone will find that useful here in the comments
That's okay if you don't use emulators. There are definitely pros and cons to them. Hopefully someday there won't be any cons. If that day comes, I suppose it would be a cool idea to make some content involving N64 emulation? That'd be interesting to see.
Extreme G really fun game I remember renting the game in blockbuster
How much was it at your local to hire it?
When you finish covering all the N64 stuff, will you move onto GameCube or SNES??
Probably not but never say never
@@n64glennplant Fair enough but personally I would love to see you cover the gamecube and it's library sometime.
@@summersetbanjo7440 I got a GameCube on launch day and love the console, I just have way more interest and nostalgi for n64 so maybe a select few GameCube titles I’d cover
I really like the track desing on original Extreme G, even though XG3 on GameCibe is only a million times better game on every way.
See fir me that’s the weakest of the series
I'm easy. If it's N64 related the chances are pretty high I'll click on it. Do the people that grew up on Atari feel the same way?
Their grandkids have to click on it for them.
Haha maybe that could be true!
😂😂😂😂😂 savage but I love it
@@n64glennplant couldn’t help myself 😁😂
@@n64glennplant
Nah, that's our Pong loving parents.
Those of us who grew up on Atari are still younger than Ant-Man and Aunt May.
Driving the tank in GoldenEye.
That’s a cool level
I’ve got an interesting idea for a new video: a games wish-list for a hypothetical N64 Classic Mini.
It’s a good idea but the realistic view is that without being able to put rare titles on the mini console it would leave it with pretty much a ton of first party games and a couple of some third party ones but missing the rare titles everyone would want
That’s an idea maybe fir the future but I never use emulators so would need to figure it out first
@@n64glennplant oh Boy, looks like we're on the same boat.
I don't know If you use everdrive 64, but maybe some homebrews become intersting content. I'd seem a folk puting some emulators running on the N64. One Of them is an dos box or something like. Sure there must be huge limitations for doing such things with the N64 hardware but ... Its always Fun thinking Of stuff Else we could play on our original hardware.
Check out the n64 beta project 👍
yeah friday evening and a new video wohooo🎉🎉😃😃
I’ll try and get more ones during weekdays in the future too
@@n64glennplant you made a good job Glenn and I feel happy to see every friday after my work, a new video 😃
Road rash 64 looked so much better as a kid lol
I know right
It always looked like smeared @#$& (blurry and cartoony/sparsely detailed). I grew-up playing Road Rash 2 on the MD and was a n64 owner. However, I was really impressed by one of the two PSX Road Rash games.
wow i just finished my bike tour
Where did you go?
Extreme G was my fav :D
What did you make of the sequels ?
@@n64glennplant I thought something similar to you, the second one was much more "kart racer/twisted metal" style with the gameplay, but I loved them all :D
extreme G. Hands down.
What's the racing game at 0:10 with the loop? I'm not familiar enough with N64 games to recognize it,
Hot wheels turbo racing
@@n64glennplant Thank you. :)
I like that it stays behind the car the entire time through the loop. I hate when games switch to an upside-down front view at the top.
I like rush 2 extreme racing
I think this is the first one of these videos where I've played less than half of the games.
XGIII is tops
You think? I always felt that was the weakest
Thanks glenn!!!
And thank you for watching
Games that make me wish I was a biker lol
Haha true!
The 3do road rash was released on ps1 if that matters
I'm an absolute fan of XG-2, the drum & bass soundtrack and the speed sensation when you manage to race without hitting the borders. With VeloFire you can break the sound barrier in many tracks without using turbos.
Excitebike 64 was gold as well, I remember making long straights with a big jump in the track editor so that the cpu would always fly off the track. I also remember the frustration of later difficulties and cups.
The original Extreme G was so much better than the sequels
Xg3 went really down hill imho
@@n64glennplant Yeah, absolutely.
I tried to play XG but jesus did it give me insane Simulation Sickness like no tomorrow...
XG2 was better on the eyes and sanity
Glen Plant 64 are you going to review Hercules?
Who put the G in gladiator - Hercules (and Glenn) 💪🏼
@@n64glennplant you're reviews are the best! My ritual is to listen to GP64 when making breakfast lol
What are the names of those games you showed at the start of the video? That's what I want to know.
Hot wheels, hydro thunder and mickeys speedway
Was Excitebike 64 the last game in that series?
I can’t think that they’ve done one since but I guess maybe excite truck on wii would be classed as the sequel
@@n64glennplant I would argue it's more of a so-called Spiritual Successor, similar to how Perfect Dark was to Goldeneye 007.
@@Nutty151 exactly
Mario kart is awesome
Yup but not a motorcycle game unless you mean the more modern iterations which included them
@@n64glennplant that is exactly what I mean
extreme-g , never played part 2 alltough
Worth playing but skip 3 IMO
@@n64glennplant part 3 on ps2/gc? I liked it back in the day but never played it since
0:00 What's the title of this game? Thanks!
Hot wheels
All N64 games should be on Switch
Maybe one day
Carmageddon N64
🤮
@@n64glennplant Why does everyone think is that bad? I know Superman 64 is a junk and a piece of shit game. But Carmageddon n64 isn't really that bad. Just because one reviewer said it was horrendous the rest joined in the bandwagon.
@@Leny1777 it got bad reviews even when it was released if you’re interested in seeing opinions for the time you can check out n64 magazine or NOM magazine scans online at the archive 👍
@@n64glennplant People say Quest 64 was bad as well and many reviews saud it was bad. I think these critics are wrong. But I know when to spot a bad game. John Romwros Daikatana and Superman 64 are indeed horrendous.
Why don't you do video reviews of new nintendo games. That would be brilliant.
Maybe if I get a switch one time
Glenn - Please don't limit yourself to N64 - Racing games on all platforms!!!!
No the 3do one is missing so much compared to the PlayStation one. I own them both and I think the people like the 3do one better cause it’s missing half the hazards and makes it so much easier. The sega one has the best music not that trash rock or whatever it is
Probably should of added that it’s about road rash but watch them side by side you’ll see what I’m saying
