    Incredible player. No one talks about him. His problem was not his skill set. He wasn’t well liked , and alienated himself from A lot of the players , and the fans. He was blunt . Later on I think he had some regret for some of the things he said. He is among the elite , all time greats , and no one mentions him anymore.

    One player alone, Rick Barry, has ever held the top scoring positions in the NCAA, NBA, and ABA. Consider that for a player no one knows and who has essentially been forgotten-which is absurd considering the man had to ball out to achieve such an incredible feat.

    Rick Barry did so many things at a high level - from the triple threat position he could beat defenders by going around them to the hoop, he could face up and hit a jumper, and Barry was a great passer. Rick Barry is one of the best forwards of all-time.

    Other than Larry Bird, Rick Barry is the best passing forward I ever saw. All of the footage of Rick in his prime usually doesn't show his incredible passing skills. I swear the man had eyes in the back of his head and he was just brilliant as a playmaker from the small forward position, but often times he made passes from the top of the key due to his shooting range and I wish more highlights of his passing were available. Rick had unlimited range shooting and could score from anywhere on the floor and was the best free throw shooter of his era. Rick also was among the league leaders in steals throughout his career and was a very heady player. Rick Barry could beat a team in many ways and I'm glad I had the privilege to watch him play because he is one of the best of all-time. Rick was NBA finals MVP when the Warriors swept a really great Bullets team in 1975. A true legend.

    • @Amick44
      @Amick44 4 місяці тому

      I truly think of his passing first when I think of his game. Yeah, he took a lot of shots, scored a lot of points and was a solid, underrated defender. Play remember the passing more than anything. Maybe because it stood out more with him playing the forward position.

      That's funny. I was a Washington Bullets fan growing up in the Wash., DC area but had huge respect for Rick Barry. I used to practice his underhand toss. My friends did too. I never got the knack of it. I could hit 80+% consistently using the traditional style. We also used to imitate Wilt shooting his free throws from about 3 feet behind the line (off center). My friends and I had a huge respect for Rick Barry especially after the Warriors humiliated the Bullets in the finals 4-0.

      My favorite team was the Washington Bullets also and I thought they might sweep the Warriors, but unfortunately the Warriors swept the Bullets. Rick Barry was brilliant in the finals and was MVP. After the Bullets beat the Braves and the Celtics in 1975 they were huge favorites to win the title, but the Warriors were not to be denied. Rick Barry was among the best to ever play in the NBA and had a long and distinguished career.

    I saw him hit a fade-away jumper at half-court, all net. He would produce whether the team was in contention or not. No sloughing off. He was so self-critical that teammates thought he meant them! 20 years after he retired, he signed 3 photos of him and his comment was, "What was I doing that for?" He was critical of his pre-warmup! An excellent player.
