    Really very much informative video. I just want to know that how much quantity of the charge is put in furnace at one time ? Is it almost completely filled upto about 80 feet height of the furnace or it is partially filled upto about 10- 15 feet at regular intervals ? Does all the charge fell down in the furnace in few seconds or it is made to come to the bottom from top of the furnace slowly ?

    Hi, the clip has a mistake T0:50 sec. The most abundant metal in earth´s crust is aluminum.
    One reference could be Wikipedia, but it is not the only one that shows aluminim like the most abundant metal in the earth´s crust.
    Reference
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abundance_of_the_chemical_elements#:~:text=The%20mass%2Dabundance%20of%20the,%25%2C%20and%20titanium%200.61%25.

    Sir after dressing and roasting of ore.. maximum of the impurities are removed out.. then why are we using limestone as flux for removing impurities? Does it means, there are some impurities which can be removed by limestone in the form of slag?

    • @phuturephunk
      @phuturephunk 3 роки тому +2

      Yes. Silicon dioxide is the primary unwanted material that comes with the ore charge. The calcium carbonate in the limestone reacts with the silicon dioxide that's mixed up with the ore to form calcium silicate. Since limestone is essentially calcium carbonate, it's an optimum material to get rid of the silicon dioxide.
