Very nice video, but I was not certain how to make the measurements you mean by 'back or shoulder'. I opted to measure my shoulder width across my back, but now my pattern does not have enough fabric width to gather at the top. I will add 2 inches to the top width by placing the pattern 2 inches away from the fold of the fabric for the front piece, but I don't know how this will impact the overall width of the whole garment. I am just beginning learning sewing and your explanation is generally in the right level, but knowing where the tapemeasure should go on one's body would be helpful. :-) Thank you!
