The powerglide is an old washing machine with a wringer on the top of it. It would have been situated next to a sink, with the water being syphoned in and pumped out via a rubber pipe. There would have been an electric motor that moved the agitator back and forth that washed the clothes. You would rinse the clothes out in a sink with cold water before placing them in a spin dryer. I remember such a machine from 45+ years ago. 18:01 Bwooottt!
Definitely an old wringer washing machine. The rollers on top wring the water out. They are still available here in the US. Last one I saw was on a tug boat in New Orleans to wash the crews clothes.
19:12 It's an adding machine (mechanical calculator) - nothing to do with the bus, used in the office to add a load of values together at high speed before the invention of the computer / digital calculator in the 1970's.
Hello Guys from Worcester, Massachusetts USA. I think that tan colored square thing with the rollers is a washing machine. Love your videos. Have a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!!! Stay safe out there. Love to all, Ramona G.
8:47 that is a twin tub .....washer and spin dryer . Wash and when finished put through the mangle ( the bit with the rollers) and then into the spin dryer . Obviously the other half to to twin tub is missing .
I wondered if the powerglide was some kind of washer mangle item. The writing is so typical of its era! Loved this video, awesome seeing the remains of the cars 😍
If its the one I'm thinking of it was once a brilliant scrap yard spent hours down there getting bits with my dad for his cars the owner was a very good friend of the family but I haven't been in years so I'm not sure if it is the one
Split window VW beetles and Campers are the most sought after because they're the oldest ones, and there's less of them. The reason for the split was it was expensive to manufacture curved glass I believe.
... 10:15 ... i have seen little wringers for clothes before but there is no manual action nor a button ... usually clothes wringers are much larger and manual as we had in queensland when i was growing up ... i am wondering if it is not a metal presser for gold foil or silver foil as in mobile phone and computer parts ... i eat edible gold foil and edible silver foil as much as i can when i can afford to do so ... maybe an initial stage of pressing preparation because the bottom part needs to be affixed in order to work and is not manual but electric and maybe portable ...
In the mid 60's my Mum borrowed next door's new electric washing machine to have a go and it had a constantly turning mangle on the top and just an on/off button. Stupid stuck her fingers between the moving mangles when no one was home and rubbed most of my skin away and broke my finger. Still have scars and bent finger to this day. I met a kid in late high school (in Melbourne both from the UK). He'd got his forearm stuck and like me the skin just got rubbed away in the one spot. He needed grafts. Couldn't believe there were two stupid kids doing the same thing at about the same time.
Nice scrap yard boys! I think 🤔 the car in the pig pen looked like a 40 something Mercedes Benz. The other thing you were looking at was a old washing machine with a roller ( mangler) on top that squeezed the water out.
Great video. Apparently the history on this place is the guy who owned it one of the Medleys, accidentally electrocuted himself and died. His brother still lives near by and checks the site out now and again. There is also a small farm house with fire 1950's ish style fire engine too. Great place to explore!

there's a video of one of those powerglide things on youtube with the title "60 year old Service Powerglide Washing machine, still working. #GoBritish"
The mechanical thingamajig with all the rows of numbers was actually and old mechanical calculator from the 50's! I'm guessing it would have been used to calculate multiple fares or change etc. Or it could be nothing to do with that bus at all.
I love it when you said just needs a little WD 40! That's my go to at my house, that and Duck Tape and a Hammer if you can't fit it with that throw it out!
it's a mangle (not a washing machine). you put the bed sheets inside and feed them through the wooden roller and as the bed sheets come out the water get squeezed out - didn't you ever help your Nan?!

The Poweglide is the first ever Harley Davidson. It took its design cues from a beheaded seagull Harley found on his 9th birthday.

That Powerglide is an old ringer washing machine from the 1950's. My grandmother had one that she was still using when I was a kid!
The thing Norton is puzzled by on the coach with the knife/skyscraper logo is a hubcap for an Austin metro.
You missed half of it, loads more still around there in the woods.Good explore to wonder around 👍
The TV thingy is a washing machine. The top bit was a mangle to ring your clothes out. My mum had one in the early 60’s
Brilliant video lad's. In stitches everytime I watch your vids makes me day 👍
That slightly preserved car in the pig pen is a standard 10! I have one so it's kind of cool to see it ABIT naffed 🤣
